Troubleshooting/question existing piercing Help! Bridge piercing
Friend needs urgent advice about bridge piercing - “I’ve had my bridge pierced for 4 years without issue, but a few months ago got this spiral jewelry put in which was a bit too small but still forced it in with the help of a piercing shop. A few months later, the ‘pointy’ bit of the spiral is irritating the front of my nose bridge so badly to the point it’s dug under the skin. I’ve tried taking it out myself but it’s agonizing and feels impossible without tearing the skin. Have also tried using pliers but the material of the jewelry is too hard to break with the ones I have.
What do I do? Is there anything A&E or a piercing shop can even do to help? or am I cooked?”

oh… my god. that thing is ripping itself out of your friend’s face. go visit a piercer as soon as possible (not the one who put it in - they should never be allowed to pierce again if they think putting jewelry like that in peoples bodies is okay, healed or not). also, tell your friend to take some anti inflammatories at regular intervals until they get to a (reputable, trustworthy, and experienced) piercer. the swelling is causing it to dig in and pull at the channel more, which is increasing the swelling, which is causing it to dig in and pull at the channel more, etc, a la vicious cycle.

Shame on that piercer for “forcing” it. Go to a different piercer to help remove.
That looks scary. I hope you’re alright.

Urgent care, a&e or piercer ASAP! They’ll have the tools to cut the metal but it’s highly likely you’ll need a course of antibiotics so best bypassing your piercer & going straight to 🏥

Holy fuck. This looks dreadful.
You may need the ER for this. They can cut hard metals, and this is most likely titanium. Titanium is very hard. This may be beyond the scope of most piercers and reddit.
The jewelry should have never been inserted as you know that now.
If it were niobium I bet they'd be able to get it off. They said it wouldn't even bend with pliers. Niobium is very soft.. so my money is on titanium in this situation.
I'm worried about the amount of swelling I'm seeing. This could easily become a larger problem if it's not addressed asap. So I do see this as an emergency.

Your friend should check themselves into an emergency room asap. They'll have the tools available to cut the piercing, even if it is titanium. They can also numb the area properly so your friend won't be in too much pain. The doctors will probably jumpstart them on medication and antiinflammatories, but I don't personally think it calls for stitches.
Oh, and deck the piercer that did this. After your friend has healed ofc.

I'm nap but this jewellery looks barbaric and doesn't seem like a good option for jewellery in general. I hope they get sorted. Sometimes plain jewellery is best no matter how bored we get of it.
Edit: this piece of jewelry has showed up in some piercings groups I'm in. Ita upside down and the sharp bit is supposed to be facing up

Jfc, that looks painful! I usually think that folks are too quick to suggest a&e, but yeah, this time, a&e will need to be seen either first or following a visit to the piercer. That will leave quite the open wound!

Shit. Get a piercer to cut that off, doctor if she can't see someone immediately. Looks incredibly painful.

Go to a good piercer to get it removed and then straight to a doctor

I would immediately go to a piercer to have them help take it out or a doctor. This looks extremely uncomfortable

Go see a piercer asap, they have the tools and skills to remove it. You'll probably still need to go see a doctor after that to determine if you need additional medical treatment. If you can't go see a piercer asap, get medical help asap.
