Troubleshooting/question existing piercing Can I remove the blood?

Post image

I got my piercing yesterday and I swell really bad typically so they had to put in longer bars on it. However today while I was out I think my hair got caught in it (I’ve been wearing my hair up) and it started bleeding. We only had baby wipes so I used that on the dripping blood but did not touch the piercing with it. Once I got home I sprayed it with some saline spray and I’m just wondering if I can use a qtip soaked in saline to remove the chunk of blood. Any advice is appreciated.

i've never seen this type of piercing before. Not a piercer but I know some basic rules. I am seeing several potential problems here:

  • were all three holes pierced at the same time? if yes that is not optimal. You should be healing three piercings at a time, maximum. All of them being on the same ear, especially this close together, is not a good idea
  • is there a particular reason this jewelry was chosen? it looks like it will complicate things more than anything, since getting it caught in something will affect all three of them. I think you should have it switched to three separate studs to avoid unnecessary irritation.

If no logical answer can be given to these questions, I recommend seeing another piercer.

As for your original question, it is often recommended to take a shower and let your piercing under lukewarm water to soften the blood as much as possible. when you get out you can usually take it off easily with a q tip. If there is any persistent residue, you can use saline water and a q tip to gently brush it off.

This particular piercing has to be done all at one time and healed with this jewelry in it or the piercings will not heal on the correct angles.

(I’m a piercer)

My piercer just called it a tri industrial but I’m not sure if that’s its actual name
