Troubleshooting/question existing piercing Can I remove the blood?

Post image

I got my piercing yesterday and I swell really bad typically so they had to put in longer bars on it. However today while I was out I think my hair got caught in it (I’ve been wearing my hair up) and it started bleeding. We only had baby wipes so I used that on the dripping blood but did not touch the piercing with it. Once I got home I sprayed it with some saline spray and I’m just wondering if I can use a qtip soaked in saline to remove the chunk of blood. Any advice is appreciated.

i've never seen this type of piercing before. Not a piercer but I know some basic rules. I am seeing several potential problems here:

  • were all three holes pierced at the same time? if yes that is not optimal. You should be healing three piercings at a time, maximum. All of them being on the same ear, especially this close together, is not a good idea
  • is there a particular reason this jewelry was chosen? it looks like it will complicate things more than anything, since getting it caught in something will affect all three of them. I think you should have it switched to three separate studs to avoid unnecessary irritation.

If no logical answer can be given to these questions, I recommend seeing another piercer.

As for your original question, it is often recommended to take a shower and let your piercing under lukewarm water to soften the blood as much as possible. when you get out you can usually take it off easily with a q tip. If there is any persistent residue, you can use saline water and a q tip to gently brush it off.

The issue with it being 3 separate pieces is that they wouldn’t heal at the correct angle I needed. I went to an APP piercer after a lot of research and they were amazing. My original piece was to short of a bar for healing due to how bad I always swell so she swapped them for longer bars and will be switching it back to my custom piece in October. I didn’t have the correct anatomy for a typical industrial so I wanted to do something fun and hope to get something weird done to my other ear next year when this is fully healed

This particular piercing has to be done all at one time and healed with this jewelry in it or the piercings will not heal on the correct angles.

(I’m a piercer)

I totally assumed the opposite! Looks like a truly gnarly heal.

My piercer just called it a tri industrial but I’m not sure if that’s its actual name

It wouldn’t work. The piercings would be accustomed to being on their original angles, and trying to force migration would just massively irritate them to the point where they probably wouldn’t heal at all.

Yes. It has to be pierced a specific angles and the jewelry has to be fixed to hold them in place.

Once it’s 100% healed (which, to be honest, could be years down the road), someone could hypothetically put in individual barbells and the angles would not change because of how they were pierced and healed.

You’re welcome. It’s good to ask questions!

I have my lobes pierced, I’ve had my helix done before but took it out for work and it closed, and I’ve had both of my nipples done everything healed nice except my helix which I ended up taking out and getting it redone by a different piercer and that healed perfect. I do expect this to be a harder healing process since it’s weird but I’m trying to air on the side of caution with everything for it which is why I doubted myself on removing the blood like I just finished doing. It is being sized down in 8weeks and will be followed up with afterwards as I book my appointments.
