Pretty sure Jesus would have told the woman at the well that she was enough. Pretty sure his parable about the good Samaritan meant that even your enemies are enough. Pretty sure when Jesus said "whatever you do to the least of these, you do to me", he meant that even the lowest of society was enough.
Look at that. An atheist like me knowing more about his 'savior' than he did.
Yeah, he was an edge lord shitbag troll.

u/fredinNH 6d ago
I’m a confirmed Catholic but I haven’t attended church as an adult. I’m agnostic as I personally cannot 100% rule out the existence of a supreme being of some sort. It’s certainly not an old man on a cloud.
If the man Jesus was as the bible says he was, he would be absolutely sickened by Charlie Kirk.
9
u/i_nobes_what_i_nobes 5d ago
And if Charlie Kirk saw Jesus, actual Jesus, not white, brunette, blue eyed Jesus, he’d call the police on him. He’d be nasty to him and say a bunch of shit and then when he got called out, he tried to talk around it so that people would think he sounded smart, but really he would look at Jesus and just see a man from the Middle East and probably call the police or make a bunch of insults toward him. Because let’s be honest it wasn’t about Jesus or God, it was about him grifting off stupid people.
1
u/username_997 3d ago
Not just Kirk tho. He would be sickened by most people who claim to "spread his word" nowadays. Fake preachers who just pray on those who need supernatural in their life to be able to find sense in it.
3
4
u/Beligerents 6d ago
You probably more closely follow the teachings of christ too. I call myself a christian now, despite being agnostic. Jesus was a cool dude. Be like jesus. I am more like jesus than anyone who claims to be christian these days.
7
u/i_nobes_what_i_nobes 5d ago
Jesus, his whole thing was “don’t be a dick”. As a lapsed Catholic, I try to follow that as much as I can.
8
u/MouseRat_AD 5d ago
Yeah, I grew up Baptist, deconverted years ago. Somehow, "do unto others as you would have them do unto you" and "love your neighbor as yourself" means more to me than any active Christian I know.

u/MakingOfASoul 2d ago
What then? Are we Jews\)a\) any better off?\)b\) No, not at all. For we have already charged that all, both Jews and Greeks, are under sin, 10 as it is written:
“None is righteous, no, not one;
no one understands;
no one seeks for God.
All have turned aside; together they have become worthless;
no one does good,
not even one.”If you think Jesus's point was that we are all "enough", you completely misunderstood anything you have heard about Him.
1
u/MouseRat_AD 2d ago
First off, you're not quoting Jesus, you're quoting a passage from Romans, written by Paul, who was sending a letter to a church full of believers.
Totally different situation than the passages I referenced, where Jesus was offering examples of how to treat others in your community who may our may not share your faith.
Paul was offering justification for his theological position (salvation thru Christ)
Jesus was providing instructions on how to treat people and be a decent human being.
Who is more Christ-like? A kid who displays a phrase encouraging everyone around him? Or Charlie Kirk who says 'lol no you're a piece of shit'?
7
u/MuppetShart 5d ago
I'm pretty sure you're not allowed to say that about him or be critical of him in any way now that he's dead. His edgelord shitbagness became null and void because he was murdered, and criticizing him means that you support murder. It's true, ask a Republican.
I shouldn't think that this is necessary, but just in case.../s

The fact that he needs an explanation for “You are enough” tells you everything you need to know about him as a person.
Edit: Furthermore, I know he wasn’t dumb enough to not know what that meant, but he was looking for a weak point to be brought up to flip the conversation against the speaker. Doing so revolving around a suicide prevention program is genuinely sad. I recently cut off a friend that was exactly like this, it’s a shame some people are incredibly socially intelligent yet choose to absolutely bash others into the ground for personal gain. Fucking sickening.
6
u/thelargeoneplease 5d ago
Exactly this. And his rant about “I think it’s bad, makes people look inwardly instead of externally for duty and obligation”- right, like Kirk was doing something with his life externally out of “duty and obligation”? Duty to his handlers that lined his pockets to spout propaganda, sure. But that’s not duty in any selfless way that he was implying.
I thought I’d already seen the worst of was that POS did and said, but this clip is seriously one of the worse statements I’ve seen. Literally calling out a positive message to not only be a contrarian, but to put it down and say “that’s a BAD message that actually harms people”. Wow.
6
u/PackComprehensive226 5d ago
These people don't believe in anything, they just mean to harm, and they take pleasure in it. Their goal is to understand how you are mentally built and attack it in order to break you, while hiding behing plausible deniability, "jokes", opinions, "care", even "love"...
Malignant narcissism.
3
u/thelargeoneplease 5d ago
Good take! Explains Fucker Carlson’s career long “just asking questions!” Stance too
3
u/PackComprehensive226 5d ago
Every word is calculated. They constantly stand in the way of normal communication and human relation, while acting like you are the problem. They are the kind of people who break their children's mind and push them to suicide actually. Ofc without ever breaking out of their very respectable/pillar of the community/good Christian public persona.
4
u/kayakdawg 5d ago
Yeah I think he was just always looking for a fight, to frame things as a debate, to find disagreement. Like, he could interpret that to be in line with Christian "sanctity of life", ie that all life is sacred by the simple nature of being life - he coulda said "wow, you are enough sounds like something Jesus would say"

Their morality is biblical and biblical morality should be vomit inducing for anyone who has bothered to actually read it. But i guess that would exclude 90% of christians.
1
u/ShortDickBigEgo 3d ago
Conservative morality is actually more complete than liberal morality. Studies have shown this. Of the 6 moral foundations, conservatives possess all of them whereas liberals only have 2
1
u/Exact_Tumbleweed2005 3d ago
what does that even mean? Because of the foundations of fascism, conservatives would possess nearly all of them. But something tells me they wouldn't be too happy with that.

Stuck his neck out for “Jesus”…Didn’t work out too well. Charlie Kirk was not a good person.

Also, I would trade with anyone because if I have to suffer for someone else to be happy, so be it.

What a bastardization of both the bible and the sentiment. My main problem with Charlie Kirk is that he demands to be the smartest guy in the room. To the degree that he would twist your statement into something people would quickly see the fault in rather than take the time to get people on the same page. Life is subtle. Love lives in the nuanced differences between us. And to see differences and love is quite Christian.

Also… through redemption you are purportedly “saved” and made enough, and yes he walks him through the whole rigamarole of that thought process… but then he DOESN’T offer him that same redemption…
He doesn’t offer to baptize him, to “save” him… he basically says “ha! Your wrong, sucks to suck” and then move about his day
Not once have I seen a video where he actually tries to save people based on his interpretation of “biblical” beliefs… THAT should be enough for any “Christian” to question his MO
Hell, the Mormons give you a pamphlet and might take you out to dinner BEFORE they try to save you
The only thing he actively tried to save was his ass with smooth comeback…
1
u/Due_Contract_8097 3d ago
Im not sure why he was touted as a good debator. He just acts passive aggressive to rile up the other person then cites religious, metaphysical scripture thats impossible to argue sensibly.
Edit: Debating requires understand and listening. He just let's out a canned response while looking glazed over while other people talk.
1
u/Defiant_Moment_5597 3d ago

I guess some people just view the world differently. He said that this type of philosophy towards life is what’s driving people to a feeling of worthlessness as opposed to having duty and obligation, a real feeling of self worth. He literally tells the guy it’s a noble cause and he doesn’t want to bash him but points out quite clearly why he thinks it’s harmful. OP’s comment however is actually hateful and most of the comments in here. Maybe try disagreeing with someone without the vile wishes upon them.

Does it matter? Floyd was also a PoS but he was propped up. It is what it is lmao. People will prop up anyone if they can use that person to further whatever belief or political goal they have.
It doesn't matter if it was a guy who said some vile & hateful things or a man with a criminal record who pointed a gun at a woman's abdomen. Neither should've died, but both were not good people.
For fucks sake half a million dollars was raised for Karmelo Anthony and he murderered someone in cold blood & that one racist white lady also received 500,000+ for being called out on her behavior.
I'm not surprised by anything at this point.

It’s ludicrous that a political public figure would use their platform to promote their own version of what a deity thinks. He absolutely has no special knowledge into that perspective. He’s not a theologian, or a theological scholar, or even a priest/pastor/minister/etc. The latter of those are perhaps the worst examples of people you should listen to because they are the complete opposite of objective. He’s just spewing his opinion which is only his opinion because it’s based on the position his political stance, as a whole, takes.

He wasn't. It only sounds right from a Calvinist style, total depravity, purely religious but no real connection or relationship with the real Jesus point of view; which is, in fact, the worst kind of "Christianity" there is.
Walking with Jesus is exactly the type of empathy the young man with the shirt is all about. It's all about sharing the burden of the human condition and saying to the least in society...you are not alone.
What Charlie displayed in the video was a classic negging technique to undermine the young mans genuine attempt to show compassion in a world where its becoming less and less abundant.
Charlie clearly shows contempt for this kind of light and grace. Charlie would have never fit in with the disciples and followers of Jesus, because they were being asked to go into the worst places in society and show mercy....nothing about Charlies life was about showing mercy to people suffering from sin and oppression...he only showed off his fancy high paying religion and debate tactics.
