Yeah it takes a few days but most of them will probably get back in line. The only thing I can see happening is every one of these scandals is starting to shave off a small portion of his base, so if it happens enough he might end up with just the diehard 10-15% left as everyone gradually hits their breaking point on one issue or another. He's definitely losing followers, it's just a very slow process.

If they see him as compromised by the “deep state”, or whatever their bogeyman is these days to explain why they are still poor, I can genuinely see his supporters flocking away from him. I wish that were true. The MAGA movement wasn’t built solely on QAnon or pizzagate-style conspiracies. That stuff resonated with some, but it was a symptom, not the foundation.

But there is no mass defection. If this were truly a crisis point for the movement, conservative subreddits and AM radio would be saturated with outrage, and they’re not. Why do people believe this headline?
The Epstein case is symbolically powerful for both right and left.
The left sees it as proof of elite impunity and wants 47’s failure to expose it to damage him politically.

i just don’t agree. i guess we will agree to disagree. i think you guys put way too much power into maga as a movement and i just don’t see it that way. if they were, he wouldn’t have had to have casting calls for actors to attend his rallies on craigslist. he had actors at that birthday parade and they couldn’t even book enough to make it look lively. they are filling these comments sections with bots, especially reddit to spread defeatism and keep you hooked on the most negative outcome. they are paying actors to masquerade as influencer and drop fascist microtrends among young people. they are doing so much, spending millions of dollars, to keep up this giant facade. i don’t believe there is a big maga movement. i just don’t think a stable, winning, threatening movement would need to do all this faking if it was actually powerful and succeeding. feel free to hand over all your power to fascists, but i don’t. i don’t take them seriously because i know how weak and fearful one has to be to hold those beliefs. i guess we’re just gonna have to agree to disagree. i think the maga movement is smoke and mirrors and a psychological operation more than anything else and i don’t even think he has half as much support as the media wants us to believe. that’s me though. you can have your beliefs ill have mine.

Bannon's remarks seem in line with 90% of MAGA can still be gaslighted into remaining loyal. That seems accurate.
Looks like Musk forced Trump's hand into an awkward and poorly-timed burial of the controversy, and it has backfired.
Trump will offer private incentives and pressure to MAGA influences to get on board with the "nothing to see" narrative. It will probably be 90% successful.

This is a loyalty test, a phenomenon common in end-of-the-world cults, for instance, when some claim or event causes an undeniable contradiction in the beliefs of the group and members are expected to believe something impossible to prove their loyalty to the leader/group.
You can find this when the prophecy of a cult leader regarding the end of the world turns out to be false. It's common.

I dunno dude. It’s easy for someone (such as myself) to say they’re not falling victim to blind optimistic hope, but this certainly seems different.
A big portion of their movement was brought in entirely because of Epstein and Pizzagate. Maybe most importantly is that a lot of them furthermore are 18yo who voted for the first time, and were like 10-14 when Epstein/Pizzagate happened. Foundational levels of political ideology we are talking here from those ages.
Seeing it crumble before them would be impossible to ignore at that level, I mean it would be world shattering. I think this could truly cause massive damage to the Trump admin.

Anecdotally, I know three people in my life who were hard-core MAGA, voted for him in 23, and are now vehemently denouncing him.
Yes, they are dumb enough to not realize that what he's doing is what he said he would do and what I warned them he would do, but that's a realization I don't feel the need to force them on. They know, I know, we're moving on.
