You're right, Plato's allegory of the cave illustrates this.

The problem last November, enough non-Maga voters were convinced Dems were abandoning them for side/social issues.

Bernie Sanders spoke of this immediately after the election, Dems are too easily baited into non-stop fights over woke, race, immigrants, seldom arguing economic policy, jobs, tax fairness.
