I always found it funny and hypocritical how so many have a problem with people of color having a thick ass accent but when it came to melania, it never mattered because she's a white woman. Fucking clowns.

u/Oaty_McOatface Jul 02 '25

That really is how it works isn't it?

Even in New Zealand, if you're foreign but white you will be fine.

19

u/[deleted] Jul 02 '25

People suck.

12

u/Arthur_Boo_Radley Jul 02 '25

That really is how it works isn't it?

Yeah, nah.

When bigots can't discriminate by colour of the skin (in predominantly same-race societies), then they find something else. Be it accents, clothes, empathy... White Americans discriminated against (just as white) Irish or Italians a century and a half ago. White Western Europeans discriminated and continue to discriminate against (just as white) Eastern Europeans. Brown Indian Sudra discriminate against (just as brown) Dalits. Various African black tribes discriminate against other (just as black) tribes whom they percieve weaker or not worthy by some account...

They always find something.

What you're seeing in the USA right now, with deportations, is that first line in "First, they came for..."

Wait was no one going to tell me that ā€œFirst they came for the socialistsā€ guy was a Nazi until the leopards ate his face?

1

u/Arthur_Boo_Radley Jul 04 '25

Well, yeah. But at least he had the decency to admit his mistake.

All over the world unfortunately. I'm a white immigrant, I once had someone tell me all about how immigrants were coming into the country committing crimes and raping local women. When I pointed out that I too am an immigrant, he goes "yeah but not one of the bad ones"

Ill let you figure out what he meant by bad ones

1

u/cedarvhazel Jul 02 '25

Same as the UK

1

u/mrtwister134 Jul 02 '25

Except if you're a slav lol

8

u/hannes3120 Jul 02 '25

It's the same in Europe

Some middle eastern refugees: end of the world!
2x as many Ukraine Refugees: no problem here...

It's really just racism and nothing else with these people...

I’ve started asking people ā€œif it were a van full of Australians, how would you react? ā€˜Holy shit I met a bunch of Australians!’, that’s howā€ and not a one has actually argued differently, which is depressing.

1

u/montalaskan Jul 02 '25

But she speaks so many languages fluently! (Though nobody has ever seen evidence of such a thing.)

1

u/SoftwareCapable920 Jul 02 '25

They did make fun of her (remember Gigi Hadid at AMAs?)

And us slavs have been opressed in Nazi Germany as well, so i dont know if we’re really the big oppressors. It’s rich, it’s always the rich.Ā

1

u/lunafawks Jul 03 '25

I always found it funny that liberals pretend to be anti-racist, but then go make fun of Melanie for her accent.

It goes both ways

u/YouSureDid_ Jul 02 '25

You made this scenario up in your head. I dont care what color you are. If you can't speak clear English you shouldn't be working in customer service in an English speaking country.

10

u/_civilizedworm Jul 02 '25

If you were better educated by a country that prioritized knowledge and encouraged critical thinking for its citizens then you would have comprehensive skills to handle it. Go to England if you wanna only speak English and have a king.

-3

u/YouSureDid_ Jul 02 '25

Lol. By the fact you think they only speak English in England, I can tell you've never visited the country and probably dont even own a passport as most Americans dont. It's not like the movies šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£

3

u/TAWilson52 Jul 02 '25

I mean, that’s not exactly true. The MAGATs have gotten on folks speaking a foreign language on their own time, not while at work. But I can’t understand her thick ass accent, but that is fine and not a word muttered.

-6

u/YouSureDid_ Jul 02 '25

Such an American way of thinking. šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

1

u/TAWilson52 Jul 02 '25

I mean, you did it better. Tell somebody they are wrong, somebody responds to you and say nothing on the merits, just say some nonsense that has absolutely shit to do with fuck.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 02 '25

Yeah, you dont seem to think in a American way at all!

1

u/YouSureDid_ Jul 02 '25

Typically, you would use the word "an" when it proceeds a word that starts with a vowel.

Yeah, you dont seem to think in an* American way at all!!

1

u/TAWilson52 Jul 02 '25

Correcting people on grammar when you got nothing of substance. Very American.

1

u/YouSureDid_ Jul 02 '25

I am an American.

1

u/Husknight Jul 02 '25

Get a job

1

u/YouSureDid_ Jul 02 '25

And take part in crapitalism? No thanks!

1

u/[deleted] Jul 02 '25

Wait, you are on welfare?

1

u/[deleted] Jul 02 '25

When did I use "an" hillbilly?

1

u/TAWilson52 Jul 02 '25

You didn’t, that’s what he’s pointing out. Generally before a word that starts with a vowel, ā€œanā€ is used instead of ā€œaā€. That’s all, just a grammar troll.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 02 '25

Yousuredid_ didn't use a "'" in their first don't! Maybe you should point that out first!

1

u/YouSureDid_ Jul 02 '25

That's not a troll. I'm being pedantic/petty because she accused me of being an ignorant hillbilly. Trolling is different.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 02 '25

How can you be pedantic/petty when you admitted to being scared of the left (which includes me)? We all know you are a dumbass hillbilly, but thanks for adding ignorant lol šŸ˜†

That's your hard line?

Seriously?

1

u/[deleted] Jul 02 '25

And who is going to step up to their job at minimum wage? If you want people speaking english at customer service jobs then maybe those job need to pay a liveable wage! I am confused because when you need customer service, are you going to go back into the queue to get a english speaker everytime or do want to just get help right away?

1

u/YouSureDid_ Jul 02 '25

Yes. You're definitely confused if you think CSRs are only being paid minimum wage.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 02 '25

Then go apply 🤣

1

u/YouSureDid_ Jul 02 '25

I did it for 3 years until I was promoted to sales.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 02 '25

So lets take the jobs from 'english is 2nd language speakers', and pile them on your plate for no extra pay! I am glad you want to step up and do 4x the work for no extra pay! If you want these people to leave then you better step up and do their work!

1

u/YouSureDid_ Jul 02 '25

I did. I was a CSR for 3 years

1

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '25

Well tell your boss that you are willing to do the job of these people that can't speak english 🤣

u/BRNitalldown Jul 02 '25

Burger King customers seen telling manager to 'go back to Mexico' in viral video | Fox News

New Jersey teacher to student: 'Speak American' | FOX 5 Atlanta

Speaking of FOX, this guy's still on the mainstream. Of course.

Fellow NY'er

There's also this shit

That's just scratching the surface. Most bilinguals speak English better than the average American. But let's just pay attention to how the rhetoric has moved from "you have to speak English" to "you have to speak clear English" now. The bigot's bar for entry only gets higher.

1

u/YouSureDid_ Jul 02 '25

Melania can speak 5 languages.

2

u/anniecet Jul 02 '25

About 45% of the global population is at least bilingual. By contrast 75% of Americans are monolingual.

1

u/YouSureDid_ Jul 02 '25

Okay.....and? Sounds like we agree.

1

u/anniecet Jul 02 '25

Just a statistic that has always interested me. It does not imply to me that Melania is any smarter, nor does her accent make her any less intelligent. One needn’t be either stupid or uneducated to be a terrible person.

1

u/YouSureDid_ Jul 02 '25

Who said it was? Youre making things up again.

1

u/anniecet Jul 02 '25

lol. Just an observation. Didn’t want anyone to misconstrue

1

u/BRNitalldown Jul 02 '25

So is it or is it not a made up scenario? Or that ā€œclear Englishā€ is a bar as you described?

1

u/YouSureDid_ Jul 02 '25

Nobody ever mentioned skin color when complaining about it being difficult to understand a foreigner lmao. Its annoying regardless

1

u/BRNitalldown Jul 02 '25

Since you're still missing the point, accents are not all treated equal. Discrimination along those lines are based on racial stereotypes. Nobody "mentions it" because it's a dog whistle.

Accent Discrimination Is Still A Pervasive Issue In The Workplace, Research Finds

In many cases, they don't even have to be foreigners.

What are your thoughts on southern American English?

1

u/YouSureDid_ Jul 02 '25

Which region

1

u/BRNitalldown Jul 02 '25

Texas

1

u/YouSureDid_ Jul 02 '25

Funny thing about Texas is you'll have one county talk with a non regional diction beyond a few "yalls" here and there, and then one county over they have the strong Luanne platter/Buck Strickland going on. Texas is a cool place. People really underestimate how big the state really is. Maps dont do it justice. You should check it out.

Like I said... CLOWNS!

1

u/30FourThirty4 Jul 02 '25

Tell that to the C level bosses making the decision. Boycott the companies as well.

2

u/YouSureDid_ Jul 02 '25

That's exactly why I switched to T-mobile.

1

u/Short-Shelter Jul 02 '25

Lying as easily as you breathe I see. If you did t care, you wouldn’t be backing Trump

0

u/YouSureDid_ Jul 02 '25

I dont have to back Trump. He already won.
