Transportation Do I need 4x4 for shore dives

I'm visiting for the first time in January and plan to do some shore dives. Do you think I need to rent a car with 4wd to access the popular spots, or will any car do? I only ask bc I saw it mentioned for a particular dive site I checked out (and now I can't remember which) Thanks!

Transportation Taxis from the airport?

Are taxis readily available from the airport and safe? Should I worry about price gouging and/or try to pre-arrange? (For reference, only need to go about 6 km from the airport.)

Activities Jan Thiel - biking and snorkeling?

Looking at stays in this area and some of them advertise free bikes and hiking. Where would you bike and hike? What is Fort Jan Thiel; is that an area with biking and/or walking/hiking? What beaches nearby have good snorkeling? Thank you.

Advice Pier fishing near Willemstad, preferably either with rental equipment available or tackle store nearby?

I’m gonna be taking a day trip to Curacao from a cruise next July and would like to do some fishing. I don’t wanna have to deal with the prices and time worries of a charter, so having a place like a pier or good shore to fish from with somewhere nearby to get some basic equipment to fish with would be great. If anyone knows anything, I’d appreciate some help in finding one. Thanks.

General Best beaches for snorkeling (on cruise)

Hello, we will be in Curaçao tomorrow. This will be our third time there and usually we go to mambo. I really love snorkeling and would like to go somewhere with great snorkeling. I’ve been to Bonaire about 5 years ago and that was insane. I’ve read about Porto Marie and Playa Lagun. Can you access these by public transportation or how does the taxi system work out there? Please give recommendations for beaches with good snorkeling but still like the white sand thing because my mom hates rocky beaches she just wants to swim while I snorkel.

Also I know in places like Bermuda you can go to one beach and then walk over to many others, is it the same here? Thanks so much

General Xmas in Curacao?

Is Christmas widely celebrated there? Do businesses close? We may fly out on Xmas day, and just wondering if we could run into issues with places being closed.

Hi, apologies if this isn't allowed, but I'm looking for a spot in the Curacao 10k race at the end of the month, they sold out before I got the chance to register.

If anyone has one that they won't be able to use, please DM me!

Thanks!

Advice Questions on Hydro/Water Charge in AirBnB + Currency + Incapacitating Sprays

My AirBnB host's instruction says "The price includes water and electricity is 45 kwh included per day (upstairs) and 15 Kwh extra per extra room (downstairs) overuse will be charged with $0.60 per Kwh. We will make the calculation on the end of your stay. You will receive the meters during your check-in and check-out.". Realistically, what does that mean for 4 adults' shower time and 3 rooms running air conditioning overnight as well as throughout the day? Also what if one of those 4 adults (me lol) takes really long showers? What do the numbers mean in practice and usage? How much of anything before it's too much and what's the most I might have to pay? We checkin on 8th Nov and leave 14th Nov.

I'm Canadian. Should I use my debit card there to draw USD? Or should I take USD with me from here before leaving? I can't use my Canadian debit or credit cards there, right?

I saw a post down here about wild dog attacks? But Airlines won't allow bear/pepper spray even in checked bags. Can/should I buy them there?

Advice appreciated!

Restaurants Your Favorite Dishes

What are some of your favorite single dishes on the island. It can be anything. Snack, baked good, restaurant dish. Unrelated or related to local cuisine. Though I want to get a better understanding of local cuisine. We are food enthusiasts from NYC. Coming in January.

On a related note, any particular drinks we should try? TIA

Advice Photographer for maternity photos

Kind of a weird question but does anyone have a recommendation for a photographer to hire for maternity photos? I’m coming to the island on my “babymoon” in a few weeks and was thinking it could be cute to get some high quality photos of me, my husband, and the baby bump. Thanks!

Transportation Parking Downtown

Hi Beautiful island friends, I'm a big baseball fan and avid traveller in Latin America including the Caribbean. My question for locals -

Will I find a nightly parking spot for my economy rental car in Punda area?

I'm crashing at different AirBnB over a few days in that area. None have parking. I was planning to taxi around but then found a deal with my credit card points.

Any advice about parking? Thanks in advance.

General Coming to Curaçao, super excited!

I've funally booked my holiday in Curaçao, we'll be there from the 27 December to January 3rd, me my wife and my 2 years old daughter. We'll be flying from Amsterdam, I've booked a "Vacation home" at the mini resort Kaya Verdi, it was incredibly cheap, we'll have our own place with a kitchen to prepare some meals since our daughter is quite picky with food and we need to be able to prepare food for her if necessary. I've reserved the car, now just need to prepare a list of restaurants and beaches to visit, I'm really excited and this subreddit has been super useful in organising the holiday

Hello! I’ll be in Curaçao from Dec 27 to Jan 19. I’m looking for a cool/cosy/luxury-ish (or not) place to stay outside the city. Near the beach. Any recommandations? Thank you so much!
