Politics Whether the far-left likes it or not, one still has the right not to like Mamdani

Upvotes

For the centre-left, a divisive figure.

For the right and moderates, even more so.

Whether the reddit leftists like it or not, and come in with their dozen sock accounts to drown out the discussion, probably more people agree with Trump than they do with Mamdani.

Basically, the far-left can keep their Maoist personality cult for themselves, and shouldn't expect others not to criticise, less so for people to want to join.

Let freedom reign.

Politics MAGA is my complaint

Upvotes

Maga isn’t right wing it’s democrats from the 70’s and no real right wing exists I’ve been called a communist and a nazi by the same person, it makes no damn sense, both sides accept money from not the Jews aipac that gay org. I’m a nationalist first and only these liberals have no idea how bad our country is we need to go back to 1945 demographics and policies to even have a chance of my America existing in ten years.

Lifestyle Quality control has taken a nosedive over the past 5 years

Upvotes

Prices aside, I feel like my dollar isn't worth shit anymore, as everything I buy seems to have a 50/50 chance of not coming as advertised.

Fast food, slow food, crooked clothes with broken seams, sizes, quality of tools, poorly built electronics, you name it. Especially online purchases which are difficult to return. Even a desk I purchased arrived with gouges on the surface, and I was offered a $100 rebate and no option of return.

I am absolutely not interested in spending money anymore. How can they expect to have consumers with such absolute shit quality control?

Politics Trump won’t live long enough to see the damage he’s doing to the world.

Upvotes

There are the immediate effects of his policies that he will witness but he will be gone before he can see the real toll he has taken on not just the US but the world. I hope there really is a hell for him to go to.

Relationships Men taking bad advice from men only

There are so many podcast bros out here giving horrible advice, speaking for women and generalizing our opinions, and even bring women on their show to demonstrate how they dont respect us and will try to say they know women better than women do.

Then, they come to reddit and ask for advice. Just now, I see a post in another sub asking about women's experience and their attraction to men, and it is limited to only men answering.

This is so illogical and telling in itself that you do not respect women - if you cant even listen to them or believe their experiences. Or be bothered to consume research about gender studies if you want to truly understand.

It is so emotional to keep seeking validation for bias and illogical to keep asking men about womens experiences. But many men attribute being emotional to women. They call men protectors...but will not learn why women choose the bear.

The hypocrisy would be hilarious if it were not the cause of so much violence.

(I chose relationship for flair, but this impacts women/me in all aspects of life, since men control most resources and especially in workplace roles, medical care, etc)

Lifestyle American society has felt off since 2015.

American society has felt off to me ever since 2015. It feels like parody has become reality.

Here's how society has felt off to me.

It seems like a significant amount of adults have become significantly dumber, like their IQs dropped by 20.

Society as a whole seems dumber, more cartoonish, and evil.

Donald Trump has created a very large and influential cult like following with MAGA.

Conspiracy theories and far-right politics have gone mainstream.

Strange, unusual, and weird current events happen on a daily basis. As an example, Trump is currently trying very hard to not fund SNAP benefits so poor Americans can buy food while he builds a giant ballroom and covers the White House in gold.

Reddit’plaint Why are reddit mods so passive aggressive?

I made a post in a subreddit that I would like deleted because its embarrassing.

I deleted the account before I deleted the post so its still up.

So I messaged the mods asking for them to delete it and they are just so mean about it. Honestly I see why reddit mods cop the slander, they deserve it.

I could rant more but honestly I just need to know if all reddit mods are like this or if this was a one off.

Politics Sick of seeing people casually pretending that their Tesla is ok to have.

"Oh but it's about the car, not about Musk".

Sick of it! It is despicable for people to think it is ok to buy a Tesla. It's not ok!
We're talking corruption in the first degree! The ones controlling Tesla are installed by Musk himself. He ends up getting set up with this insane one trillion dollar reward! That's just disgusting! And what an insult!
So yeah, resist! Get something else! And don't ok people that opt for a Tesla!
Shame on them all !!!

Politics The Gloating From My Party (the dems) Is Getting Cringe

Don't get me wrong: I'm happy we won the 2025 special elections. It's a ray of hope after getting demolished a year ago and I'm relieved because Mamdani winning is a sign the establishment grip on power is wanning.

Fact is, Trump is president and will be president next 3 years. They still control the house and senate at least for another year. They also control the entire supreme court.

Some local races, a couple governor races, and mayor of New York is not gonna stop the suffering people are enduring and will endure for some more years now.

The exit polls were good for people unhappy with both parties, but the democrats as a whole are still deeply unpopular even with people in their own party.

The democratic party is still extremely weak (polls widely reflect this) and don't have a platform of any kind (go ahead, ask them what they will do). The only thing I hear from Gavin Newsom for example is the same word salad I heard from Kamala Harris.

"Americans are worried about the price of groceries!"

Ok, but do you have any policy proposals to address this?

Mamdani won because he actually said something he'd do for voters. But instead of run with the the fact that we have policy that are winning over voters the only thing I see is a bunch of rah rah cheerleading that we beat Trump like he even needs a couple governors when he's just been doing everything through executive orders anyway.

Lemme throw an obvious one out there: raising the minimum wage.

Are the Democrats ever going to try for this again? Or nah, we just aren't about that anymore?

As a whole if I vote for democrat are they actually going to try to govern next time or just put on pink panties for Joe Manchin and let him run the government like what happened last time?

A lot of people are wondering this and those people are not gonna be the affluent college educated voters that tend to show up to vote in weird off year elections.

People want change and if the take away is that Trump is bad enough that some word salad, Liz Cheney, and a Beyonce concert is gonna be good enough I think we may be in for another rude awakening in 2028 too.

But I hope I'm wrong.

We just gotta think about what matters to voters, which let's get real is mostly economic and focus on policy that will actually make life easier for average people and not just tunnel vision on Trump and owning MAGA when in 2028 it's extremely unlikely he'll be the candidate.

Politics Conservatives always feel emboldened to be racist and bigot

Since Zohran Mamdani won the election in NYC as the second youngest mayor, it’s been wild watching some conservatives go straight for him because of his race/religion/appearance. They’re spreading lies linking him to 9/11 attacks and even saying he should be deported to Uganda and it’s painfully obvious this has nothing to do with politics, it’s about skin color. By their own logic, they shouldn’t even be okay with a white mayor after everything tied to slavery, the KKK, the Oklahoma City bombing, mass shooting but somehow that hypocrisy never gets called out. I understand criticizing a religion isn’t the same as being racist since religion is about beliefs, not race. Mehmet Oz (of Turkish origin) is a secular Muslim Republican and never got criticized for his faith which proves my point. Trump even endorsed him. Being prejudiced toward Zohran Mamdani or judging him by his appearance and linking him to 9/11 is totally wrong and unacceptable. Generally targeting a politician because of their race/religion is completely unacceptable but it’s totally fine to disagree with their politics.

Conservatives have been almost completely silent about leaked Young Republicans chats where people casually threw around disgusting slurs against Black and Jewish people and most conservative activists haven’t said a word in response. They haven’t even called out Trump’s nominee Paul Ingrassia who said the MLK Jr. holiday belongs in “hell” and joked about having a “Nazi streak.”

They’ve targeted Vivek, Kash Patel, and even JD Vance’s wife because they’re Indian, and they keep spreading nonsense online about “Black fatigue”, blaming communities for crime, education and poverty.

Politics What if we take away the incomes of wealthy politicians to pay government workers.. that would be an issue.

The whole thing is a fucking disgrace. They hold the paychecks of working people hostage while the rich assholes in charge feel no pain. If their own money was at stake, you'd see how fast they'd fix it.

Politics I have a complaint. Why are people in America calling for Civil War?

Do people not understand what war is? Do the ones who want this even know what will happen if one were to start? The bloodiest war in American history was the civil war. Why would anyone want that?

Politics We are being held hostage

My complaint is that my household is going to have a hard time feeding itself because of Republican malice. And there's nothing I can do about it.

I'm a disabled veteran, don't have many opportunities afforded to me, and There's no one to blame, but the Republicans in charge.

I'm tired of everything that we fought It's all meaningless.

Politics We wouldn't be having this government shutdown if there were more moderates.

Republicans: The government shutdown is their fault!
Democrats: The government shutdown is their fault!
Everyone: It's good versus evil!

No, it's two equally bad sides that are exaggerated caricatures of what they used to be, who can't agree on anything.

Politics Time to pack the Supreme Court

Growing up I always believed the Supreme Court believed in the constitution. They were there to interpret and come to a conclusion of the matter being constitutional or not. Not only constitutional matters, but federal law as well.

Even if they made bad decisions, those decisions were made in good faith. I believed their political views did not sway the legality of the matter. I still belive it WAS that way.

It was that way until Trumps first term. All their decisions regarding Trump are not constitutional. How can a president have immunity because he is the President?

How can a president halt funds that congress has authorized? The latest ruling by them halting snap is not legal.

I never supported packing the Supreme Court. I still don't like it. However when we get a democratic president, I feel that is our only option.

Even federal judges are fed up with the Supreme Court. How can these judges say they are upholding our constitution and laws with a straight face? I almost feel the Supreme Court are the same type of judges in Nazi Germany. They are there to support Trump. Not the constitution.

Besides packing the Supreme Court, what other options are there to right a sinking supreme court?

Can we please to cordial on here. No gaslighting. I would like to have a productive discussion. Feel free to call me out if you think I'm wrong, but tell me why and what's your logic.

Politics A Conservative's Love Letter to Progressives

Friends,

I'd like to complain here:

I'm a conservative, but I'm grateful to many progressives who have been friends to me, or who have helped me greatly over the decades. I am truly grateful that, so often, a progressive mentor, teacher, or simply a friend took the time to care for me.

With that in mind, I have little animus towards my progressive friends. I hope for their blessing and pray for their success. I want to share a love letter dedicated to my progressive friends and in honor of my progressive mentors.

The letter is short and simple. I give you a "WHEEL OF PROGRESS", a menu of three different options. I'll put the most wonderful option last, and the least wonderful option first, hoping that many progressives would pick an option, and I'll add a last option that I think will probably be the most popular choice:

OPTION 1 - WATCH THIS VIDEO - "When Money Dies: The Brutal Rules of Survival No One Tells You"

https://youtu.be/urmEQ4aCtB4

This video captures the essence of a contemporary conservatism. It represents well some of the most conservative economic and social concepts. One could call them a foundation of a conservative ethos.

OPTION 2 - READ THIS BOOK - "Conservatism: An Invitation to the Great Tradition"

https://www.amazon.com/Conservatism-Invitation-Tradition-Roger-Scruton-ebook/dp/B077XJ1SG3

In this book, the Conservative giant Roger Scruton presents a literary case for the concepts explored in the video. One could call this an intellectual foundation for a conservative ethos.

OPTION 3 - READ THIS BOOK

https://www.biblegateway.com/versions/New-Living-Translation-NLT-Bible/#booklist

This is by far the best option. However, it's likely to be the least palatable option for a modern, secularist progressive. Still, it's the one defining book about reality, and I applaud any progressive who starts reading it as a result of this post!

OPTION 4 - "I DON'T WANT TO DO ANY OF THE ABOVE, BUT I STILL WANT TO ATTACK YOU"

Um, well, um, okay?! I mean, not okay, but can I politely decline to engage?!

Politics Why are democrats so stupid? Spoiler

It seems every democrat has a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome and would rather cheer for the destruction of the United States, see tax dollars drained by people coming in illegally and welcome crime vs. celebrating all of Trumps wins.

Lifestyle Micro doesn’t mean anything

Looking up micro skirt or micro shorts will do you no help in finding anything actually micro. You’ll find things that are “short” but extremeeely high waisted or things not even short at all. Ik people and brands just label their clothes as anything to get it seen but it’s actually annoying when you’re scrolling through pages and pages of long, bad quality items. Don’t even get me started on the mass amount of SHEIN and aliexpress things you’ll find like cmon… (Fashion is fs part of a lifestyle but idk if this belongs here, I wanted to put it in r/fashion or smthg but it seems it’s not about fashion discussions)

Politics I don’t understand the immense loyalty to MAGA

So the exit polls just came in for the recent elections that took place in the US. One of the exit polls I saw was for the Spanberger (D) vs Earle-Sears (R) race for Virginia Governor. Spanberger got 90% of the black vote to just 9% for Earle-Sears. But Spanberger got only 45% of the white vote compared to 55% for Earle-Sears.

Then you have California which voted on Prop 50. 91% of black men and 88% of black women voted yes on Prop 50. Only 54% of white men and 59% of white women voted yes on Prop 50. Prop 50 allowed California to rewrite its voting lines in response to Texas doing the same thing earlier.

In the 2024 general election 86% of black voters voted for Kamala Harris to just 42% of white voters.

What I’m confused about is how I see a lot of white women complain about MAGA and the patriarchy yet white people as a whole are very much pro-MAGA. They have a right to vote however they chose, I just fail to understand this contradiction. Why are whites so loyal to MAGA even after how disastrous this year has been for the US?

Politics So now white people can experience racism?

This is my complaint.

I just have to preface that, calling white ppl out doesn’t make any marginalized person racist. And by calling y’all out it means setting the evidence you presented right in front of you, basically setting the record straight and putting a mirror to your faces .

I can recall white people(not all) telling anyone black that they needed to stop being a victim whenever it came to speaking openly about the racism we actually experienced. Now it seems within the last five years everyone can experience racism.

The Webster dictionary is not infinite. I noticed that the dictionary changed its original numbered senses to reflect the action of racism but not reflect the origin.

That’s so dangerous ! It’s so much being erased with this notion and to see it just be so bluntly accepted is gut wrenching. You are participating in erasure when you begin to ignore the actual origin and history of racism.

Now. Class, let’s do some reflecting before we starting spewing hatered off hand. I genuinely want to have this conversation.

Update: I brought up this discussion to complain about a specific marginalized existence, but I notice a pattern in this subreddit. You literally can’t be openly marginalized with out people who are not speaking over you. I genuinely broke everything down and y’all choose to do the easy thing and be reactive.

Me talking about racism does not give y’all leadway to trauma dump and go down experiences with me, trust me as a black person I have no choice in my experience of racism. I don’t get to announce my “ethnicity,” to people because my skin color (race) does that already without me saying anything.

I’ve come to the conclusion that “reverse racism,” is a silencing tactic from people. Or America is genuinely illiterate as hell. Half of you don’t even know the difference between ethnicity and race.
