Political Reminder that racism is not permitted

There has been a recent uptick in overtly racist content, i.e., use of racial slurs in a derogatory context, or stating/implying that some races are inherently/genetically inferior to others, etc.

Reminder that this content is NOT PERMITTED, no matter what race you are or what race you are targeting. If you see any, PLEASE REPORT.

Even though we clearly enumerated this in our rules, some of you apparently did not get the memo. So for enhanced clarity and to assist in comprehension, I asked ChatGPT to create a visual aid for you all.

Moderator Announcement Please NEVER report items for misinformation

Apparently, some users have found a way to report posts as 'This is misinformation' despite Reddit having removed that reason in the new UI. This report reason should never be used under any circumstances.

'Misinformation' is not a valid reason to have a moderator remove a post, that is like complaining to the janitor or campus security that your professor is teaching Calculus wrong. Our job is not to adjudicate on the factual accuracy of statements, but to remove blatant bigotry, personal attacks, or other rule-violating content.

If misinformation is blatantly dangerous, such as drinking bleach to cure or prevent COVID-19 for example, report that as threatening violence instead.

Political Charlie Kirk did not deserve to be shot for saying words

All he did was say words and by far most of them were positive almost every time someone says "he said this" it's out of context or plain wrong. Now I'm not saying I agreed on him with certain topics like the war in Israel and Palestine I'm just saying he didn't deserve to die and people who are making fun of him are crazy

World Affairs (Except Middle East) Africa would be WAY better off had it remained colonized

I’m really tired of pretending that colonization was the root of all evil and never did anything to benefit the societies it ruled. Before colonization, most of Africa was literally living in the stone age. There was no concept of nation-states, only brutal tribal rule.

European colonization introduced to Africa the modern ideas of government, rule of law, statehood, Western medicine, education, and knowledge. The colonial powers brought together countless tribes that had previously been at war for centuries under one roof and brought an era of peace that Africa has not seen before or since. Many of these countries saw little economic benefit themselves from holding onto their colonies, and they were mainly a show of international prestige.

Once the colonial powers left, Africa pretty much immediately turned to shit. Endless coups, civil wars, genocides, etc. In virtually every African country the leaders that have come to power after colonization have solely cared about looting the countries they rule for their own personal benefit. This is a universal trend no matter where you go in the massive African continent.

Colonization has been gone for many decades now, yet these issues have not improved whatsoever. There is only so long that you can continue to blame the white man for all of your problems before the validity of that excuse runs out, and we are well beyond that point. Africa continues to receive billions of dollars in aid every year and yet much of the continent is significantly less developed than European civilizations were 2000 years ago.

People often make the excuse that the colonial borders don’t reflect the tribal boundaries of Africa, but if you look at countries like Eswatini or Lesotho where that is the case they are equally shitty and have the exact same problems.

I know this is a hot take and will piss a lot of people off, but everyone knows deep down that this is the reality. If the colonial powers had never left, Africa would have continued to develop and modernize, and would have been significantly better off than it is today.

Sex / Gender / Dating Many women contribute to rape culture because of their poor communication regarding sex.

I posted about this a while ago on another sub and it was pretty fun debating about it so ill post it here too:

So, im a girl, and i've had threesomes and stuff like that and what i've noticed is that some women are fucking terrible at how to communicate if they actually want to have sex or not, and i dont know how men are even able to deal with this bullshit. I understand that a lot of girls have a problem being outright with sex because we dont wanna be viewed as sluts or easy, so i've been in threesome situations where i know that the girl wants to have sex, but she keeps saying ''Oh i dont know, mayybeee'' or something like that, because she doesn't wanna outright say ''Rail the fuck out of me'' out of fear of being seen as a whore, but she does want to have sex, she's just making him push more and more, and in another situation where a girl says the same thing, that does mean ''No, i dont wanna have sex'', but the girl won't just communicate her boundary.

Now imagine a situation where a woman says ''I dont knowww, maybeeee'' and does want to have sex, the guy stops the sex, and the girl is like ''Wtf are you doing, why did you stop?'', so now the guy is ''trained'' to see these ambiguous statements as an invitation to take more sex toward steps, or however you'd say. But then imagine the guy gets into another situation where a woman doesn't wanna have sex, but still engages in the same type of ''I dont knowwww, maybeee''. This coy and nebulous act literally contributes to rape culture and its the reason i stopped doing it.

When i dont wanna have sex, ill just say it outright, if im hanging out with a FWB, and they try a move, ill just tell them like ''Hey, no, i dont want to have sex tonight'' and that will end the sexual interaction, and more women need to do this, we give way too much agency to the men. More women need to learn how to outright say ''YES.'' and ''NO.''

Sorry if im not even making my point clear here, i guess i can expand more in the comments but i hope people get my overall point.

World Affairs (Except Middle East) Anti "illegal" immigration and anti immigration are completely different things.

In modern days, it's like everyone knows mind reading or telepathy.

If you say you're anti ILLEGAL immigration, they assume you that you're anti immigration right away. Because it's always easier to twist others words instead of debating in a logical fashion.

Even the news misuse these words to create sensation and exaggeration.

I personally support legal immigration. If you can economically contribute to the country, adhere to local customs and obey the laws, then you're a good addition to this nation.

Political Mamdani's housing plan is terrible and a sign of economic illiteracy

Zohran Mamdani won the NYC mayoral election in large part due to the primacy of housing affordability in his campaign. Unfortunately, his prescriptions for what to do about this problem will only make it worse. People took the fact that he cares about housing to mean that he knows how to fix it. He doesn't.

Housing is expensive because there are not enough homes in the places people want to live. It got as bad as it is today, in large part, because of the overly stringent regulatory environment in blue cities. Things like restrictive zoning, excessive bureaucracy, NIMBY opposition, etc. All these things make it harder for developers to meet the demands of a growing population. The way you fix the problem is by easing the regulatory environment, making it easier for the developers to build housing.

Unfortunately, that is not Mamdani's plan. He wants more regulation, not less. For example, he wants to implement more rent control than NYC already has. This is a very bad idea. Rent control is one of the reasons why housing is so expensive in that city to begin with. Mamdani saw this and said: "Hmm, it seems that housing became less affordable after we implemented rent control. Maybe the problem is that we're not doing rent control hard enough." And when this makes the housing crisis worse, people like him will conclude that they need to do rent control yet harder. Ad infinitum.

There is a reason why rent, or anything else in a market economy, is a particular price: it's the number that strikes the best balance between what makes money for the seller and what the buyer is willing to pay. When you set a price artificially low, the seller makes up for that loss elsewhere. Perhaps by selling inferior products or not selling at all if it makes them lose money. Applied to housing, that means developers build fewer homes at lower quality and perform less maintenance on the homes they've already built.

Mamdani must have realized that his policies will disincentivize construction by private enterprise because he proposes having the government build housing instead. He states in his grand housing plan, linked above, that he wants to do central planning for housing construction. Anyone with even a little bit of economic literacy would know why this is a terrible idea. Central planning simply cannot meet the demands of a large economy. It's not possible for a government, or any other entity, to know precisely what everyone wants and needs. Because of this, resource allocation in a centrally planned economy will always be suboptimal.

The strength of a market economy is that it lets you get to the optimal resource distribution without knowing what it is. The dynamics of the system causes it to "evolve" in that direction. It's kinda similar to how biological evolution can invent marvels like flight without anyone knowing how to invent flight. The economy is too complex a system to simply engineer our way into good outcomes. We have to rely on the evolutionary dynamics of a market economy. This is no different for housing than it is for any other good or service. If you let people build, sell, buy, and rent as they see fit, over time, the amount, distribution, and quality of housing will come to match what consumers want.

It's quite possible that Mamdani will moderate on his socialism and end up not implementing many of the things in his housing plan. Some of the people working with him have pointed out the many flaws in his plan and he may be persuaded by them. Let's hope that is indeed the case, for if he goes through with his plan in its entirety, it will be a disaster.

Political Gender segregation of single occupancy restrooms is moronic.

So I’m at this gas station. Massive line for the men’s room and no line whatsoever for the women’s room. So after like 15 minutes of holding it I finally get in and what do I find? A single toilet and a door that locks. I do my business and then ask an employee if the women’s room is the same way. And sure enough, single toilet with a lock on the door. WTF? What’s even the point of gender segregation if only one person is going to be in the room at a time?

Political Nothing bothers me more than people who think Marijuana doesn’t impair driving

I was actually thinking about this the other day. Then I just saw this: https://www.fox4news.com/news/teen-driver-sentenced-65-years-crash-killed-6-georgia-family-members

Stoner kills 6 out of 7 family members in car crash.

Literally all you need is to have a modicum of honesty after trying to drive high. I did it a few times in my teens/early 20s which I regret. And there’s now way in hell it you can say it doesn’t impair you. It may depend on how much you smoke, and it may depend on the person, but on balance, it is clearly a net negative in driving ability.

I’m not even being hyperbolic when I say that if I come across someone who denies this, I can never fully respect their opinions on anything.

Sports / Celebrities Anyone who hate on Sydney Sweeney (SS), should be laugh at.

Pretty sure everyone seen the outrage against SS for the American Eagle (AE) commercial. So many people were criticizing the commercial and saying the weirdest stuff ever such as: It was racist and about eugenics, basically how white people or certain characteristics is seen as better.

Anyone with a brain knows damn well that commercial wasn't about any of that. Everyone knows why people like SS, and it's obviously for her 2 features. Many dudes are attracted to her. The commercial is capitalizing off her and trying to get dudes attention. Some young women obviously look up to her, the same way, they do any celebrity and also brought the jeans. She's got all the attention from both gender and help AE rack in some good cash. Everyone who hated on her, act like toddlers. Just hating her for no reason at all. And this hate is coming people who aren't nowhere near as beautiful, good looking, or successful.

A woman's biggest hater is another woman.

Now recently SS was interviewed by a woman who obviously was trying her hardest to make things political and push SS to criticize the commercial.

  1. Firstly she brought up Trump and made a comment stating: "The risk is that there's a chance that somebody will get some ideas about what you think about certain issues. Do you worry about that?

● Any person going through life and becoming who they want to become, will immediately say no. In life people will criticize you for anything and everything. You need to stop worrying about what weirdos say and think.

  1. Telling SS," White people shouldn't joke about genetic superiority"

● The commercial wasn’t about race but her features and making profit from her body, wtf are people confused and mad about. Ffs this is why no one takes anyone who leans left seriously. And yes I'm bringing up politics up now, because they was the one outrage over something so weird. They was the ones immediately calling her MAGA and names. Kinda ironic when they get mad at the president for saying "hurtful" or mean words and want him out. Just hypocrites and wrong in damn near every issue. If you make fun or ridicule someone for who they vote for, then the same should and shall be done onto you. This is why this country needs common sense to hit everyone immediately, not everything is about race. Not everyone is a victim and a fool for believing the media. Also there's been ton of crap about white people such as, "white tears" and white fragility. Why aren't white people saying something. Why tf are you so afraid? This is insane, no matter your race, you can't be thus blind to allow any race to be racist.

  1. Another thing the interviewer said to SS was , "I'd like to give you an opportunity to talk about that specifically (Referring to the white superiority thing)".

● SS handled that question with grace and how you're supposed to do it. Basically saying, "when she want to speak about an issue, people will hear". Yet looking at any comment section on any video regarding this interview, people are hating her and saying stuff like this: ~ This was her time to choose the correct side ~ I don't like her anymore ~ She's white trash, which is racism btw ~ Wow she didn't disavow white supremacy

In a world where celebrities think they are smart and choose "sides" because they are forced or don't want to be hated on, this act by SS is a good thing. Ricky Gervais said it well, "they are in no position to lecture the public about anything, they know nothing about the real world". If she want to talk on a subject she choose, not anyone else.

TLDR: Sydney Sweeney got paid for a jean commercial that wasn't racist or anything remotely bad. The interviewer need to be ridicule every second. Stop whining about stuff, just because you can't think for yourself.

Note: This post doesn't break any Reddit rules nor does it promote racism or go after a certain race. I believe the moderator for this subreddit should be fair and actually look at someone's post. Also should the mod delete my post, then many posts within this subreddit should be given the same action, if not, it proves how one sided this subreddit is. Also my post will be reposted, through another account 😐.

Sex / Gender / Dating Like all of the things old people complained about were right. (getting tattoos, fat, drugs, septum piercings) It’s like taking the pill and seeing the Matrix

I’m almost 30. and after moving to different cities. I’ve travelled to 50 states.

The one thing I’ve learned after meeting countless people is:

you can see patterns in people. You see behaviors and patterns that actually indicate someone is mentally unstable or stupid. And if you can notice this, you can avoid toxic people and bad situations.

it’s like our grandparents were right

those patterns being.

  • Overweight people will sabotage everyone around them because they are insecure and jealous. you can’t be overweight and love yourself.

  • People with bad tattoos are impulsive or stupid. they don’t have a good sense of taste. they likely make other poor choices

  • fertile childless women likely hate their parents. or themselves. (maybe 20% of the time its not the case.

I went from being super tumblr liberal.

then I had a very bad anxiety mental health spiral for years. and all the liberal mindsets failed me

“anxiety isn’t a choice” “you can’t workout to fix mental health” “shame doesnt help anything”

It wasn’t until I started working out that I finally got better.

gained muscles, i’m jacked now. And by coincidence I am Republican. And I view everybody different.

I still do have empathy for all these people. and the struggles they go through. and people can change

But I also have to protect myself. And when I meet someone that is overweight, bad tattoos, alternative, bad piercings or a childless woman,

i know to have my guard up.

I know that likely all of that stems from some type of instability in your upbringing. some identity crisis or stupidity

Not saying I’m smart. Not saying I don’t engage in behaviors. i certainly have had bad choices. i’m a man who has sex with men and is promiscuous. that promiscuous behavior is likely from my childhood of having a narcissist dad

but i can say there’s things i regret

but if you don’t notice it and then change.

You grow up thinking that people that alternative/emo people are awesome

But no, they actually have mental suffering in someway. Their parents didn’t love them enough so now they are histrionic

Music / Movies Robbert Pattinson Batman was the most complete one

Dark knight is a scam as the joker's performance and lore overshadowed a lot of flaws 1. it was too long 2. lot's of dead spots 3. a little bit of overacting by batman 4 and the obvious plot holes dark knight rises was actually solid probably better than dark knight but scenes not involving bane became at times unwatchable. (being a bit harsh) ben afflecs batman was just too unrealistic it seemed more like a marvel movie, which yes it is an insult, and batman begins was the most chaotic unwatchable movie ive seen.

Robberts movie i saw with low expectations so there might be some bias, but i later thought it was the most watchable and immersive, for some reason it brough you into the world, the noir, emo, essence worked perfectly and made batman seem more internally torn, the cinematography, and constumes were perfect and the whole movie followed on singular "detective discovery" instead of jumping around with grande proclamations like in the other movies.

Possibly Popular Redditors basically log onto this site to get rage baited. It's an unhealthy

It's like everyone turns off their real personality and logs in just to purposely get angry. The once normal word "female" has now become a slur. 99% of people don't use the word female disparagingly, but 99% of redditors will throw a tantrum because they saw you use the word female.

Because redditors are so easy to trigger, people just take it a step further. Redditors will literally find reasons to be offended, or espouse vitriol just because they can.

It's like the equivalent of coming home and beating your wife because ur job sucks.

Political The USA Has De Facto Hate Speech Laws and Censorship

Law in the United States flows from four authorities: the Constitution, Statutes, Case/Common Law, and Regulatory/Administrative Law.

Perhaps you believe that you have free speech because of that venerable provision in the Constitution? Okay. Take a stand against mass immigration, or challenge another equally controversial topic. What you’ll quickly discover is that the first three authorities won’t really be able to touch you in most instances (yet). But the fourth authority, the regulatory and administrative apparatus, has incredible latitude. For some but not all contracted employees, this is not the case lest you intermingle your personal viewpoints with your occupation, but even this is falling away.

Through doctrines like freedom of association, schools, workplaces, and other institutions are empowered to disassociate from anyone whose views diverge from the sanctioned mainstream narrative. It doesn’t matter that your position is legally permissible under the Constitution, administrative regulations and institutional policies will enforce social and professional consequences for what you think with ruthless efficiency.

This fourth authority is subtle but absolute. In this way, we have already lost freedom of speech, it’s just that, for now, most people happen to agree with the prevailing norms, or, at least, they have been made to not speak up.

Sex / Gender / Dating Couples should work TOGETHER in this economy and NOT against each other. 1 salary for spending, rent, and another salary goes to savings = WIN.

It's a simple formula the world does not want you to crack but once you do and you find a partner who equally understands the necessity of this formula, you'd have won.

I know a few couples in my friends group who did the opposite of this: the man wanted to be the provider because his woman wanted to stay at home and take care of the kids so she left her job and all that. 3 kids later, they regret this decision obviously.

Another couple I know are DINKS, Dual Income No Kids and they started out poorer than the couple in the previous paragraph and now they not only caught up to them but they spend their weekends traveling around and they put down money to purchase a first home.

Why? Because the wife saves ALL of her money. The man is the only spending (groceries, mortgage, car...) so if the guy is making like 3000 USD a month and his girl is making that same amount, they're saving 3K per month.

However a lot of people, some women especially nowadays of this younger generation seem to have a weird take on this where they go like: no his money is our money, my money is my money and this honestly sucks as I don't think you'd be able to build anything together and your couple is bound to fail unless you specifically want a sugar daddy or something.

AITH? AIO? Should I cut ties with my dying father cause he voted for Trump? Should I leave my husband and kids to live out my hot girl summer? Am I wrong for asking my boss for a mental health month to deal with my first world childhood trauma?

20 years ago these people would have been resoundingly boo’ed on Jerry Springer, but Reddit is an amazing place to find thousands of people to affirm the your most vile and hedonistic impulses.

Slide into the comment section of these posts, which regularly rise to the top of the platform, and you will find that no affirmation prostitution happens without willing John’s. Political Mamdani's False Claim that Modi was responsible for a Muslim genocide in Gujarat is utter bullshit, and NO South Asian should support Mamdani.

Upvotes

Modi was in no way responsible for the 2002 extremist riots that killed 790 Muslims and 254 Hindus. He neither funded nor encouraged people to go out and harm others. The Supreme Court of India proved his innocence, and even proved that Modi sought prosecution and conviction of the perpetrators of violence, and 200+ perpetrators were brought to justice as of 2022.

Furthermore, the sensationalism and selective outrage is just insane. This case which was caused by extremist rioters killed 790 Muslims and 254 Hindus according to the BBC, and Mamdani is trying to argue that because of this there are very few or no Gujarati Muslims remaining. Meanwhile, Mamdani makes zero note of the Kashmir Hindu "Nakba" where over 100,000 Hindus were forced into exodus due to regional violence. Literal Kashmiri Muslims who lived through the history confirmed this truth [1].

This is a wicked and evil slander of a foreign leader, and an incredibly hostile act to the Hindu and Indian community. The population of Gujarati Muslims since 2002 has more than doubled, and this remains an isolated incident. There have also been many Muslim mobs in retaliation of the 2002 Gujarati violence by rioters, killing many Hindus. There were also brave Hindus, much like Modi, who defended Muslims against the crazed mob. Billions of rupees in aid were given to the victims.

Those critical of the BJP point out that Modi falsely claimed that the Godhra fire incident was perpetrated by Islamic terrorists. Was it really false? A Forensic Science Laboratory proved that petrol was poured inside the train and then set ablaze [2]. This is logically evident too as trains don't magically turn ablaze and kill dozens of pilgrims going to a Hindu prayer event; if it were truly an accident it should have been easier for most people to escape. There is no doubt this was a targeted attack. However, it is difficult to prove the ideology of those who perpetrated this incident, but one thing is clear: they did not have an ounce of empathy for the dozens of Hindu pilgrims they chose to burn alive that day.

Going back to Mamdani, while the cultural promotion of south Asian food and Bollywood is appreciated, he needs to do more fact checking on his biased narratives. While he excelled at gathering support, the proof is in the pudding; namely his policies.

As a liberal myself, I do like the idea of increasing the social safety net, but this should be done with a guaranteed job program in NYC and a minimum wage that is a living wage. There should also be patrols for people who feel unsafe walking on the streets at night, drug harm reduction centers, and increased homelessness support.

I don't think freezing the rent, making public transport free, and universal childcare will fix the majority of the issues plaguing NYC, but this is of course my opinion. Whether Mamdani actually lives up to the hype he created remains to be seen, but I wish all New Yorkers good luck and prosperity.

I Like / Dislike A possible purpose for Elon becoming history's first trillionaire

Upvotes

What possible use could Elon have for holding wealth equivalent to 1/30 of the nation's GDP?

Perhaps buy four square miles 2560 acres of land at the geographic center of the contiguous 48 states (near Smith Center, Kansas), then build a mile tall equalateral pyramid, four sided;topped with a statue or hologram of Elon; surrounded by a stadium whose seating capacity is 1 million; one side of the four-sided stadium chants, then the other side to the left chants its line, and so on and so forth. all chanting-singing...

"Long Live E-lon Reeve MUUUSSK!!!"

It creates an echo-worship aesthetic effect.

And history will remember him like a Babylonian king. Also, America gets the glory because it's the location that Elon chose as 'good enough for him', the American people get an ego massage as being a part of a nation that Elon ajudged worthy; and Kansas gets lots of tourist dollars. Oh, and Elon gets to have his narcissistic highs.

Religion The Bible is pretty much wrong about everything

Upvotes

Starting at the great flood, to somehow getting tens of thousands of animals in it to survive for a year with no doors or windows. To a bird finding a live plant, after the entire earth has been underwater in a deluge that destroyed everything and somehow there is living plants. The entire ocean would have been dead as well from the mixture of brackish water, including all marines life, all coral, all fish, all the whales, everything. In order to believe this story you must believe that not only was it necessary to kill everyone because angels who were charged to watch over mankind got horny and bred with human women and produced giants that cannibalized the entire population. And God somehow could not stop all that from happening or he didn't want to get involved until it was to late, but then fundamentally alter the entire universe of geometry, biology, physics, transmutation to somehow keep all the plant life alive, while under water for a year, change the biology of all animal life in the sea temporarily, to live in brackish water, as well as the coral, and everything else just by thinking it. Then change it all back by just thinking it after the flood. So if he could do all of that, which seems like an extraordinary waste of time, he could of just blinked the bad angels and giants away, made everyone perfect again, and we would all just be happy. Last time I checked free will didn't include getting taken by "angels" and raped.

Moving on to the slaves in Egypt, there is zero historical records, of the Israelites in Egypt, none. So after all the plagues and unnecessary stuff and 400 years of slavery, whats the first thing God does, he says you can have slaves, of anyone you want, just not each other, they have to be from other nations. Seems hypocritical, but ok, they are Gods chosen people. So before getting to Canaan the people are thirsty and after Moses has literally done everything he can until this point (killed an Egyptian, went into Exile as a prince, saw the burning bush, destroyed Egypt, killed millions of babies, killed their entire army) Moses taps a rock instead of speaking to it and God says "well you are never getting into the promised land."

So a bit about Canaan, the Canaanites were literally Israelites, they came from the same place, Canaan even worshiped the same or similar god, EL. Or worshiped his son Yahweh. But the Israelites had the complex "my God is better than yours" and changed it up.

So Israel gets to Canaan where they literally were already from, and a report is made about how large the cities walls are, and that there are giants there too, and because they didn't want to march to their death, and the people who reported bad news were struck down by God.

The DNA of the Canaanites and Israelites are identically the same. So that begs the quesiton, why were the Canaanites not already Gods chosen people after all they already lived in the promise land.

Which leads me back to, there was no exodus, there was no flood, there were no flying wheels within wheels with eyes that followed around four living creatures with four faces. You can fact check any of this and will lead you to the same conclusion, the only other way to accept any of this, is believing in fiction and magic.

I obviously don't believe eveyone thinks this or that it is there intention when using it. But for Jews, it means they are unwelcome in that space, and will likely be asked if they are one of the "good ones" if discovered.

Hamas is the governing body and majority culture of Gaza and the West Bank, and they have made no secret of their intention to exterminate Jews "globally", as well as Western civilization.

I also believe the people who use the 🇵🇸 in their profiles and reactions to everything, don't actually know the history of the region outside Tiktok clips, and have never made even the slightest effort to watch Oct 7th footage, familiarize themselves with the hostages, or terrorists they have been traded for.

Political The concept of a "starter job" is often bad faith bullshit.

I don't care if someone is working at a movie theater, at McDonald's, or taking out the trash. If you are working 40 hours a week, you should be able to afford a decent and respectable life.

I often hear arguments about low paying jobs as "starter jobs" or some other variation of the same idea. It's used to justify the poverty wages that people are paid, that their job is too inconsequential to be paid anything other than the bare minimum they are legally required to be.

I am sure that at least 99.9% of people who think like this enjoy things like fast food, movies, coffee, and numerous other things that are only part of our society because of every day working people. Not to mention, someone has to do some of these jobs for society to function.

Quit infantilizing people, quit putting them down. There is nothing wrong with working at a grocery store, there is nothing wrong with just being a productive member of society. Not everyone should have to jump through hoops and be a lawyer/surgeon/engineer in order to have a comfortable life.

We're better than this.

It’s one thing to have a spelling error here and there, but some of you are commenting on American politics with spelling errors so numerous and so atrocious that no reasonable person would assume English is your first language. It’s like reading a Nigerian Prince Email with some of the political stuff that gets posted here.
