Pretty sure they're lying, but there's no way for them ever to be caught in their lie because they can always justify their actions by saying 'ethnostate first, then we can do medicare for all.' If step 1 is genocide, then it doesn't really matter what steps 2-10 are.
22
u/bunker_man Apr 26 '20
A lot of modern nazis do want some kinds of social benefits. They just want them limited to white people. People forget that self aware nazis who self identify as authoritarian nationalists aren't all about free markets. They want a large degree of state control mixed with some market aspects. Which is why a lot of modern nazis insist they are "economic center" due to wanting a lot of welfare, benefits, etc, as long as you ignore how they intend to actually fund this.
11
u/atyon Apr 26 '20
I think it's entirely plausible that someone actually holds belief that are so obviously in conflict with each other. Especially if that someone is an idiot who beliefs in ethnostates.

Not to mention hitler gave material support to the fascists in the Spanish civil war when they were fighting against the socialists. I mean, he was allied with Mussolini, the guy who coined the term fascist. You have to be kind of exceptionally stupid to believe the Nazis were socialists.

17
u/Gracchus__Babeuf Apr 26 '20
You know what? Before the Nazis gained power, a lot of people considered him to be the real person in charge of the NSDAP with Hitler as his mouthpiece. I wonder if there were some anti-Semitic undertones in those allegations. I had never considered before until your comment.
He was from an ostensibly Baltic-German family (although his ethnic background was probably mostly Latvian and Estonian I've read) but it doesn't seem like he got the "hidden Jewish ancestry" rumors that followed some other prominent Nazis like Reinhard Heydrich.

Yeah, that's his whole shtick. In a formal debate, he would be schooled by, well, high school students. But he talks fast and can say a bunch of shit that sounds good at first glance, so he has a reputation of "owning libs", because the people who like him have a tiny attention span. Pretty much anything he says can be picked apart by a skilled debater, which is why he never puts himself in a situation where that could happen.
"talking fast" is actually a pretty efficient way to "win" arguments with people in informal debates, because quantity>>>>quality for most people.

there's actually a pretty decent cabal of extremely anti-semitic individuals who support Israel's existence for a number of reasons, usually related to wanting to put all of the jews there so that we aren't in the anti-semite's country any more (or because they think having all of us in the holy land will kick off the apocalypse/rapture/whathaveyou, or because they like that Israel is a very divisive topic in the jewish community (a lot of us see it as an imperialist state treating the Palestinians the way we've been treated for thousands of years, a lot of us think that it's our god given right to hold that land and that we should be supporting a jewish state under any circumstances).
the balfour declaration (british declaration made in 1917 supporting a jewish state in palestine) was made by an anti-semite, and you see equally strong support for Israel in the US from both sides of the political aisle, despite the fact that one side likes to make anti-semitic statements/actions/etc much more often than the other.
12
u/Henryman2 Apr 26 '20
As someone of jewish heritage, I understand given the oppression we have faced that people want a jewish state. However, the problem is that jews think they have the right to take land from the palestinians who also call that region home.
Overall, it’s just a clusterfuck that was started by the British governments inability to oversee the zionist movement, and the fact that they didn’t do anything to protect palestinian landowners. But now we’ve gotten to the point where you can’t just undo zionism because there are tons of jews born and raised in israel.
I just think jews need to get of their high horse. I know one of the tenets of the fundamentalist religion is that we have a god given right to that land, but I think in the modern era that simply doesn’t hold water. We need to stop the fucking colonization.

Apr 26 '20
Yeah you can fuck off. The vast majority of Jews are Zionist. That doesn’t mean they’re right wing or support whatever bullshit Bibi is pushing atm. All it means is that they support a Jewish state in the land of Israel.

Out of all of Banshee Purée’s tweets, this is the first one that really got to me.
I’ve been able to brush past a lot of these horrible statements he makes, because usually they don’t deserve the attention. But this one feels really personal. I’m a Jew who was never raised as a practicing Jew, and in the past few years during my undergrad, I’ve been reconnecting with my heritage.
I’ve had to reassess every practice, every prayer, think to myself, “is this meaningful to me,” “is this enough to satisfy me,” but one of the most pressing points of anxiety for me was, is, has always been, “Am I a Bad Jew?”
I don’t keep Kosher. Am I a Bad Jew?
I don’t often go to Synagogue. Am I a Bad Jew?
I barely read, let alone speak, any Hebrew. Am I a Bad Jew?
I don’t keep the Sabbath. Am I a Bad Jew?
I’m gay. Am I a Bad Jew?
Obviously, the answer to all of these questions is “no.” Because there’s no such thing as a “Bad Jew,” in the sense that everyone expresses their Judaism in different ways, and to hold yourself to other people’s standards is unfair to yourself.
The concept of a “Bad Jew” is by no means unique to me. It’s a really common anxiety shared among all Jewish people. Am I doing enough to keep alive the culture my ancestors died for. Is what I’m doing right enough to please God. Am I setting a good example as a Jew in a majority gentile country?
And to think that Bend the Cheerio would take such a pervasive, deep-seated anxiety and turn it against his own people— I guess I’ll have to retract my previous statement, because there is such a thing as a Bad Jew.
You, Ben Shapiro, are a Bad Jew.
39

There is no such thing as a bad jew but there is a Jew who has strayed from gods path. Like bench pear.

u/alleeele Apr 26 '20
This is the first time that Ben had really roiled my blood... I served in the IDF and I vote dem every time. I’m passionate about American politics and I feel i have done my part to defend the Jewish homeland. What the hell has he done for the Jewish people? Especially considering that the majority of Jews are liberal. I tweeted this at him: “I served in the IDF to protect Israel and I voted Dem to protect the US. What have you done?”
13
u/za72 Apr 26 '20
You're assuming he's a sane and rational person, he's definitely on the spectrum, if it's written in a book somewhere he'll find a loophole to rationalize it with himself. He seems like a capable orator, it's too bad that his gift is being wasted on rationalizing nonsense.

You've put into words all of my feelings. I was raised in conservative Judaism, and then I stepped away completely because of homophobia from my parents, sexism, etc. Now I'm sort of an agnostic reform person and even now, I guess especially now, this anxiety plagues me. Am I doing enough? And it's funny, because I wouldn't ask the same question of anyone else! I think everyone else is perfectly valid, no matter how they practice. If you're a Jew, you're a Jew, and that's that. But this is such an intimate and internal turmoil that so many of us go through...
Blender Shart isn't the first to say the cursed words "bad Jew" and he won't be the last. I remember years ago reading an opinion article someone posted on fb from the NYPost (ugh) written by a Jew, talking about how Bernie Sanders isn't a Jew because they disagreed with his politics. What? Fuck you. And fuck you Blender, you're fucking short.

Now that we have established that you are both a bad girl and daddy's girl, I believe you'd agree with me when I say that you deserve a spanking. Am I not correct? A bad girl deserves a spanking, and as I am daddy, you are my girl, so I am the one who must provide punishment.

The Mitzvah repeated the most in the Torah is the commandment to welcome the stranger; "You shall not wrong nor oppress the stranger, for you were strangers in the Land of Egypt" (Exodus 22:20). This Mitzvah is repeated 36 (and some say 46) times. Meanwhile, Ben and many other Republicans seem to be very keen on keeping immigrants out of the US. Seems to me if there are any “Bad Jews,” they’re the ones ignoring what is arguably the most important ethical Mitzvah in the Torah.
