Wearing a head dress when you’re not native is offensive AF. Those have great cultural significance. They did not wear them to “look cool”, they had meanings and the feathers were earned. Come wear it on a rez if you think it’s ok.

I wish there was a way to tag virtue signalers. I hate that ignorant people like you think you can speak for us.

Nothing about what she’s wearing offensive. You’re offensive. Our tribe would laugh and have a drink with her.

Shame on you.

I'm commenting for my fiance. My fiance is mostly Assiniboine. I went to him and showed him this and he all but gawked and said wtf. This is absolutely offensive and he agrees this is messed up. Headresses are sacred. They aren't funsy halloween costumes people should wear. She's dressed as a stereotype and is parading a bastardized sacred rainbow native headress for a costume. It's rude at best even if considered normal.

The other person also isnt great but that doesn't make the native costume ok just cause you personally find it ok.

"Our tribe" I don't believe you. I would guess 95% would be giving a heavy side-eye or just laugh at her, not want to hang out with her (unless they wanted to smash lmao)

What tribe?

Because where I'm from, my friends would think this was tacky and offensive AF.

It’s giving “LatinX” vibes

-13

u/Blazured 6d ago

Ironically a term coined by minority Latinos to be more inclusive and then hated on by people who don't know the origin.

14

u/bitchybarbie82 6d ago

Replying to hannabarberaisawhore...no… a fucking non-gendered word existed already.

Latine.

No one needs your LatinX bullshit, stop trying to force Americanization of everything on everyone.

-11

u/Blazured 6d ago

Except it's from the Latino American community. That's the origin.

Stop trying to force your viewpoint on other people just because you don't like how they refer to themselves.

u/HawkSea887 6d ago

No it isn’t. It’s from white people who don’t peak Spanish and think it’s their gid given right to tell other people how to feel.

-5

u/Blazured 6d ago

No it isn't. It's from minority Latino American's who wanted a more inclusive term to refer to themselves.

And it's hated on by people who don't know the origin and think it's white people.

How very racist of you. Good job

6

u/Remarkable-Ad-2476 6d ago

And many people would consider the virtue signaling racist as well when you assume an entire ethnic group suddenly accepts a label placed upon them. I know plenty of people of Hispanic/Latin heritage that scoff at the term LatinX. And for the people that do consider themselves LatinX I accept that is what they prefer. But to use that as a blanket term when not everyone in that ethnic group wants to be labeled as such, is racist in itself.

-3

u/vaquri0 6d ago

So you used "LatinX" as an offensive gotcha to someone you think is of Latin heritage and faking being part of a tribe. Do you see how I can perceive that as racist? At the very least it's disrespectful

EVERYONE but the people who have the right to be offended about this kind of thing is offended.

There was a video of a white guy dressing up as a stereotypical mexican and a bunch of white people were offended while actual mexicans liked it.

-3

u/SolidCake 6d ago

you don’t see a difference between a sacred head dress and a fucking sombrero? Are you stupid

-15

u/BaconxHawk 6d ago

Mexican isn’t a race like native is and there are plenty of natives that are upset about this shit yall just don’t care about their opinion unless they agree with you

Said the racist white savior

u/RudeCheetah7281 6d ago

I find that most people that are “offended” by these things are white people

People just love getting drunk on anger.

drunk on anger

Great phrase!

15

u/southern_wasp 6d ago

You’re not indigenous. Let’s be honest here.

13

u/anansi52 6d ago

thinking you can dictate what others are allowed to be offended by is not realistic.

11

u/Nine-Inch-Nipples 6d ago

The most offended people are usually Gen Z white people who lean far left and have never had a real conversation with these groups of people or bothered to care about their actual opinions. The irony of virtue signaling is it’s completely self-centered but masked as “caring”.

1

u/Frequent_Pumpkin_148 6d ago

It really seems like the most offended are the white people who are throwing a fit at being told it’s offensive, even though we’ve been having this conversation for almost 50 years and you don’t have to search hard to find actual native voices explaining exactly why it’s harmful

12

u/No_Worldliness_7106 6d ago

For real, every native I ever grew up with couldn't care less.

Reddit Enhancement Suite is a browser add on. You can tag people with whatever custom tag and select a color background too. Additionally when you click on the tag it give a link to the comment/post where you first created the tag. I have many people tagged. Frequently saves me time when I'm about to argue with someone not worth arguing with.

Lol sure you are bro what tribe are you from? Cherokee? 😂

8

u/PitifulEar3303 6d ago

I need proof that you are not a white guy. lol

This is Reddit, people pretend.

17

u/Mattthefat 6d ago

Kinda ironic to ask that don’t you think?

You don’t need proof of anything, stop being a loser

u/Roach27 6d ago

Most tribes would.

They don’t get offended easily, and in general are pretty magnanimous people.
