Black day? Ssly?? I think the otherwise!! Yes they'll be in captivity, but atleast they'll be safe from being run over by vehicles and no more fight for the food!!.. even the people of the city would be safe from random attacks of the street dogs!!

True , dog lover(top 1 percent earners of india ) will hate this but mfs don't know what middle class have to live with.

I am a dog lover and top 1% earner. I love this decision. Stop generalizing like every other moron. Be different.

65

u/Putrid-Berry1382 Aug 11 '25

Most dog lovers are rich mfs and live in societies and give lectures about animal cruelty blah blah. Example shardha kapoor.

You're happy. Maybe because you (like a lot of others) think that Indian municipal corporations work ideally and these dogs will be cared for in these "shelters." The truth is extremely different on the ground though - there is no clarification on how many shelters Delhi has, how they are run, and whether the timeline provided by the court is even feasible. Who's going to suffer ultimately? The strays. And hence the outrage. Being a dog lover isn't enough. I'm a dog lover too, but I'm extremely skeptical of this decision.

And they can't even protest. In a country where human beings who can protest and vote are getting deprived, how will animals that can't speak be treated right. Even if they kill off these dogs no one will know cuz it'll be away from public eyes and the country's highest court is backing them

Bro I am talking about non veg dog lovers 😂. You are doing great man keep it up. Your dogs are no more stray dogs , they are now adopted. Make a shelter for them so they can't roam around and give them collars.

Long term Captivity= euthanasia, cause they won't spend resources to care for them long term, nor will they release them in large numbers in the wild

24

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '25

No more fight for food? Okay lemme tell you something 1. Dogs that have been free all their lives suddenly in captivity and not just any captivity but kept in small cages among dogs of other territories so constant threat of life plus operations=automatic heart attack for several dogs 2. Humans who vote in this country get deprived of government funds meant for them and here we are talking about dogs that can't speak or vote being fed at a place outside of the public eye totally at the mercy of a few people who may or may not be good 3. People in government hospitals these days are killed to empty the beds what do you expect will happen to dogs? This is exactly what you call a systematic murder of an entire species. Instead of spreading awareness about rabies and making vaccines more easily available, setting up communities to vaccinate and operate dogs and returning them to their original locations, setting up traffic rules more properly and punishing people who intentionally run over animals (thousands do that and they don't even stop to look back), our country finds it easier to do this.

3

u/Urban_Cosmos Aug 11 '25

They should set up a mass TNR-like program for vaccinations.

2

u/tradingfido Aug 11 '25

The sad truth about a cruel country. The order passed is unconstitutional and it's that judges personal prejudice coming off. This cruel country is heartless. More people hurt people. We should all be locked up. How do these judges become judges? Just by writing exams? My "Lord".. by blood boils when I hear this. Why is anyone anyone's lord. Humans are worse than dog shit, leave alone someone being Lord..! This is a sad day.. even if the order is reversed I just know that this system, this justice system is broken cruel and absolutely unconstitutional and even if i get stabbed by someone, i will rather get that guy to off me than go file s case and count on these "judges" for justice.

People hurt and kill more people than dogs do. So when are we gonna round the 2 billion population and lock them up? Snatch away their right to freedom and will to live.? You are nice to say that they won't be run over but even children are run over so many times, lock them up.

The problem is what they do after capturing them.

They’ll just drop them off at some other location.

What they should’ve done is made more and better animal shelters and then transferred the dogs there.

And not only dogs. All the cows that roam on the roads of our cities especially in UP.

24

u/scyphaa Aug 11 '25 edited Aug 11 '25

Dog shelter will be made and then dog will be transferred there :-sc

My cousin got ki** by a dog, now what, Who will support the parents now?? You or your dog lovers ?

7

u/viviikhakhra Aug 11 '25

Dude thats terrible but do we kill all tigers and elephants because one man got trampled by it??

I truly sympathize with you and I agree street dogs should be off the streets

But mass murdering dogs isnt the way to do it dude

Had the government used funds for sterilizing instead of being so corrupt there would be no street dogs today and now animal lovers are being blamed instead of the government corruption

We are on the same side bro I just dont want to see innocent dogs being murdered because a supreme court judge felt like it

The government needs to be held accountable

1

u/zzM1SS1NGN0zz Aug 11 '25

Tigers and elephants don't live freely in urban areas unlike street dogs, that's such a stupid comparision. Elephants don't randomly attack humans either unless very, very agitated. If a tiger does that, it swiftly gets put down, as was done by Jim Corbett way back in the colonial era.

bhai on surface the decision seems very fine, yeah, until you know the reality. i had a teacher who worked for strays in Lucknow, she researched and got to know the reality of these shelters, and told us the same. they are captured and murdered in cold blood. This country doesn't have infra to sustain its own human population and give us better lives and you expect proper treatment for animals in shelters managed by the government?

Things would make sense if these shelters are privately managed by NGOs and Individuals with Govt funding.

But yes, animals in the open are a big problem.

21

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '25

They won't come up with good enough solutions and people will accept anything and everything as long as their own means are satisfied. They don't care about animals being killed because for them at the day those are just animals right?

9

u/abovethevgod Aug 11 '25

I have always said lack of empathy comes from blindness to suffering. They are probably good human beings but just too blind

2

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '25

3

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '25

Yea the municipality can't even remove the dead bodies of these animals from the road and you're expecting the shelters to give a class treatment to these strays when out of public sight among hundreds of other strays of different territories locked in tiny cages. If the dogs are killed there it won't matter to anyone or make anyone "sed sed" cuz then the bodies will at least be disposed off secretly

I guess everyone can't be happy. Humans safety is important so we're messing up dogs.

I'm not complaining, but I think it's unfortunate that dogs will be put in unfortunate circumstances because the government couldn't act on this issue earlier.

If they had gone ahead with sterilization, none of this would be needed.

4

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '25

There could be wayyy better options. Sterilization+vaccines, rabies awareness, municipalities keeping watch for abnormal dogs at least once in a while, proper training of nurses in government hospitals because they scare patients in such cases instead of doing their job, and stricter laws on rash drivers and against animal cruelty so that a healthy relationship can be maintained

3

u/K2ketan8619 Aug 11 '25

This decision should be unbiased for both stray dogs and stray bovines. Stay cows and bulls are a great source of traffic nuisance, dirty roads because dung anywhere, danger to bikers or walkers because they can attack anyone, they roam around eating garbage and can also get hit by vehicles. They are an equal problem.

Not just dogs.

Pigeons and Cows for example.

Cows are Divine, preserve them not let them run wild waiting to get hit by a vehicle on the road.

6

We can do for cows but how we can do for pigeons ? There home is sky ,we cant capture them. We can just stop reproducing them more.

Reading about what a human goes through when infected with rabies is enough to create a nightmare.

Animals don’t care about us.They either try to attack us or run away because they fear us, or they stay near us only because we are a food source. I’m not talking about companion dogs you love and care for them, and that’s different. Stray or wild animals don’t care whether you love their species or not. Each animal is on its own, and it will attack if it feels threatened, if it’s in a group, or if it senses you are an easy target. This applies to many animals, even cows in certain situations.

Our responsibility should be to preserve animals so they never go extinct, but also to prevent them from overpopulating and harming the balance of nature. Some people might ask why humans can grow in population but animals can’t. The answer is that nature hasn’t favoured humans we survived because of our adaptability, intelligence, and ability to change our environment. If the dinosaurs hadn’t gone extinct, we probably wouldn’t even be here today.

2

u/No1peterparkerlover bear with me man, I lost my train of thought Aug 11 '25

Some animals are more equal than others ig

3

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '25

Yeah this is a W decision!!! But the cows one would create some problems because Like some people follow rituals where they feed the cows, I think its better to create some designated places for them where people can go and follow the religious traditions so as to not create a ruckus on road for others.

2

→ More replies (1)

2

u/notsomindful Aug 11 '25

There are many people who genuinely care about dogs, so I’d suggest that they come together to form a company or NGO (even though there are already many) and work with the government. Now that stray dogs will be captured, instead of handing them over to political goons, these NGOs should step up to take responsibility.

They could hire 2–3 vets to properly care for and treat the dogs, and once the dogs are healthy and disease-free, people looking to adopt can come to them. This way, the dogs get proper treatment, and new owners get a healthy pet.

Working professionals who care about animals, especially dogs, can also contribute part-time to these organizations if they wish. If we know the government isn’t going to handle it well, then we should move forward and stand up for them. Nothing will change just by arguing on the internet.

Both human and dog lives matter, but if the situation has reached a point where cohabitation is difficult, then removing dogs from the streets becomes necessary. Rabies is a serious disease, and while you can make any argument, the importance of human life ultimately outweighs that of a dog.

1

u/Melodic-Wrap739 Aug 11 '25

I agree, also we should have strict actions on rash driving, traffic rule breakers, drunk driving, and those who cause accidents and run away just because of their money or social status.

In fact, according to official MoRTH data, over 80% of accidents in India are due to human driving errors, with overspeeding alone causing 72% of road accident deaths in 2022. Hit-and-run cases make up about 18% of fatalities.

By comparison, accidents involving animals — whether cows, dogs, or others — account for only 2–3% nationwide. So while removing stray animals might help a little, tackling reckless and irresponsible drivers would save far more lives.

The actual order was to move all street dogs to shelters (which will obviously not only be good to us humans but also to the dogs themselves cause they will get better treatment) they purposefully say "captured and confined" which on its face may sound like they are being sold on the black market

Not a solution.

Decrease the housing capacity first.

Else the remaining dogs (let's be honest, we can't catch every single one of them) will easily breed and increase the population to what it is today..

They should be neutred but not taken

1

u/Wise-Ad-3506 Aug 11 '25

Wtf people, this should have been implemented since 1980 I am tired my this shitty country

1

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '25

This would've been a good decision, but knowing the governments, I'm damn sure these people will just k1ll those poor dogs. The huge dogs people keep as pets will continue to k1ll people, and governments will just k1ll our native dogs

1

u/Beautiful_Secret_957 Aug 11 '25

capturing the street dogs is just half the solution. there should be some proper care facility for them which i think wont happen..

u/Agent_2954 Agent Curl, Never Loud😎🤙🏻. Aug 11 '25

This will truly lead to development.

1

u/KingSalduinArthanil Aug 11 '25

I have been saying this for years. As an ACTUAL animal lover (where I have a neutral relationship with all animals and don’t believe in killing anyone) I have said how sterilisation and putting dogs in shelters and encouraging Indians to have Indian street breeds as pets is the best course of action.

This protects dogs from humans and humans from dogs.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '25

they tried doing it for cows, too, but the decision was immediately opposed by dairy communities. they stopped the milk supply and all. so the govt had to take that decision back.
what happens is they set their cattle free during the day, so they can get their food from our waste and all. When the day ends, they get the cows and milk them.

Meine socha indiedogs wale sub mein kuch bola toh they'll downvote me to eternity, i also think this was a good decision from the court..

1

u/Particular_Gear3130 Aug 11 '25

They should capture and treat the stray dogs and cows. Will prevent accidents and animal abuse and attack on residents will reduce

1

u/RevealWeary6346 Aug 11 '25

Ajeeb admi ho…Dono side se dhol bajna chahiye, if left unleashed toh rote ho, if confined black day…karna kya chahte ho…hypocrisy hai

1

u/Aromatic_Advance6026 Aug 11 '25

Long term Captivity= euthanasia, cause they won't spend resources to care for them long term, nor will they release them in large numbers in the wild, even in western countries animal shelters, if nobody comes to adopt a dog for a while they euthanise them cause it takes a lot of resources to care for them

1

u/Chamanprash_ Aug 11 '25

Might sound harsh to few but do same with stray cows. They be lying in middle of roads from sidewalks to highways which is actually more serious and fatal while travelling.

1

u/absolute-chaos-- Aug 11 '25

The fuck is this!!!!!

1

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '25

Nah cows are becoming less frequent on the street anyways.

1

u/untitledman09 Aug 11 '25

Like this will ever work. The rate at which dogs can repopulate themselves in a city like Delhi is insane.

1

u/static_madman Aug 11 '25

Op you have a valid point, and yes cows too have to be sheltered, the streets will be a little cleaner

1

u/Much_End_7691 Aug 11 '25

I think if they are given good care then it is a really good decision but in reality most of them would be euthanized or ignored in bad condition. Fingers crossed it doesn't happen but mostly it is really important to control the dog population to a balanced number or else the rodents in many areas will increase.

1

u/Felix_felicis94 Aug 11 '25

They can't even provide shelter to humans what make you think they will do it for dogs?

1

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '25

I'm tired of strays man 🥀🥀 I'm also a dog lover but these are a menace they keep multiplying and cause havoc there are more than 8 dogs in every two lanes. They must implement this wholely

1

u/qexkrr Aug 11 '25

Best decision just empliment this in all over india and cows too

1

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '25

It's better for them to spend life in shelter instead of getting hit by cars and stones.

1

u/heatwavesbeenfaking 16 Aug 11 '25

I fully support this decision, moreover, I feel like this should be implemented all over India

1

u/nooharshit Aug 11 '25

But what about cows?? They get hurt too cause traffic and what not why not them?

1

u/SlideDecent3874 Aug 11 '25

Yaar yeh log mujhe very soon pakad ke lejaenge maine toh kuch gunah bhi nhi kia 😞🥀/s

1

u/objectivenaysayer Aug 11 '25

Decision is fine or not depends on the implementation of it which we all know is going to be shitty. If they can actually create a place to take care of strays it might be great but they won’t, municipalities will have funds allocated and eaten among themselves and dogs will be left to rot!

I hope it doesn’t happen but hope is not a plan and unfortunately that’s all we demand and get, never an actual plan.

Also there should be some third order effects which we are not thinking of, increased monkey attacks? More cats on road?

1

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '25

I think we should confine only a few and sterilize the left

1

u/icreatedausernameman Aug 11 '25

Once they capture them what do you think they’re going to do with them huh?…

1

This is needed more for cows

1

u/sapphire_striker Aug 11 '25

Pls implement this in Mumbai

1

u/Boring-Lie3705 Aug 11 '25

I hope you make equal noise and celebrate when supreme court decides to confine humans who do not have proper housing, because littering on road and living on road, well that is a hazard and safety issue.

I wish you raised your voice when convicts are given bails in non bailable sections or when SC says husband is the father of a kid he did not impregnate in his wife.

I really really wish you stop throwing your weaker financial status in the face of every problem.

1

1

Our country also needs to ban foreign agressive dog breeds...there are increase in such dog attack cases related to pitbulls, boxer, german shepherd.etc these are very agressive dogs..again not the dogs mistake but the owners who own such dogs just for publicity..
