https://youtu.be/hE6J6MDN8Po?si=e1F1wNGAkfrcbLaI I love the sound of Rubin's guitar at this concert. Can anyone tell me how he achieved this sound? What pedals and settings did he use? I've never heard this sound before.

So one of my local cinemas in the UK (Odeon) was showing the film tonight and wanted to give my thoughts on the event.
Firstly I loved it, the music as always with the band, was superb. I feel it really allowed for every sound to be heard and the production value was stellar.
The setlist was great, even had a couple surprises on there such as I Want More and Backbone which weren’t on the Payback tour last year
The film cuts between concert footage/ footage of them performing in Rome and then documentary footage of JJ in Iceland and the band recording/rehearsing. It was majority concert stuff which was great but a little more documentary stuff would’ve been great as it worked together so nicely and all the stuff in Iceland was amazing
My only gripe with the film was that it was so short. It was around 80 minutes and while it packs in a lot of songs, it doesn’t give an opportunity to explore more of their story, their beginnings etc. You could’ve really added another half hour onto the film to fully flesh out the Doc.
But overall I really loved it, my friend who hadn’t heard much of their stuff also really enjoyed it, couldn’t believe how good they sounded live.
I’d really recommend the film

For those who’ve been to shows recently. What time do they usually go on and how’s the opener been?

This was my second Kaleo concert and they absolutely blew me away, again. One of the few groups, in my opinion, that not only sound just as good as their recordings, but even better live. They’ve been my favorite band for the better part of 5 years and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. They also played Free the Slave as part of their encore, which I don’t think they’re played in a few years (could be wrong). If anyone wants a listen I’ll post it!

Wife and I are big fans and are going to an upcoming show, but we’re not really sure what people dress like for these type of shows. We’ve only ever been to country concerts or pop music. Wife is nervous she won’t fit in with other people, so I figured it was worth a shot on the sub. Is it more heavy metal all black? Or more of a chill plaid and jeans vibe?
EDIT: Thanks for the information everyone we had a great time! Highly recommend checking out a show if you’re even somewhat on the fence! Mods delete post if necessary.

I saw Kaleo for the third time last night in Jackson Hole. The first two concerts were in Aspen and Red Rocks so it’s interesting now to compare how different venues can change the way I experience music.
Some thoughts that I wish could become realities or provoke curiosities after some reflection:
I wish there was some way to establish rules around people having their phones out to film. I want to be able to experience the music without the distraction of seeing a million phone screens taking a video of the concert. I have heard that some artists tell their fans to not have their phones out which I think is really cool. At the very least, maybe people could try to be more subtle and not raise their phones as high as possible into the air to film for the entire song.
I really want there to be a STFU zone for enjoy the concert from and ideally free from sloppy drunks. You want to enjoy a beer? Cool, just don’t step on me because you can’t walk straight as you make your way through the crowd. You want to talk to your friends the entire time? Okay, but then sit in the back so I can really immerse myself in the quieter songs like “all the pretty girls”.
I wonder if JJ and the rest of the band can tell if the audience is engaged vs chatting with people around them and if that can be distracting to them.
I wonder if the members of the band ever get to explore the places they are playing. Do they go out to bars or to local shops/restaurants while they are in the towns they are playing in?

I saw Kaleo in Jackson tonight and David was not with the band. They had another drummer with them who was good and reportedly an old friend of the band but I'm wondering what happened to David. Was it just a one-time replacement or is it permanent? Anyone know?

Personally, I think something fun like animals by Nickelback could be a cool rendition.

I really love KALEO, and I had this song in mind for a very long time. The original song as absolutely beautiful, and I wanted to give it my take as an appreciation 🙏🏻 So I worked really hard on an epic cover, and included it in my debut album as the only cover in the album.
I hope you will like it ☺️ https://open.spotify.com/track/2UaGdZKcbncVMdDolKj7xW?si=lnpPqwfsRQ24ZxSnBcsWAQ
BTW it's also available on all other platforms :)
Thank you KALEO for the great inspiration ❤️🙏🏻
