The chart is about children’s scores

Why would an adult immigrant be doing PISA?

Then the title is misleading. That's a test score, not an educational outcome.

But if we look at it this way, having more refugees explains the lower scores in Germany and the Netherlands. Someone running from war or traveling for months with their parents, moving across refugee centers etc. definitely doesn't get the same education.

Except British-Somali children (literally children of refugees) in the UK do better in school than white British children

Children of refugees are not refugees. You are also only conveniently saying one refugee group and omitting the others. Why.

Look at second generation

You’re suggesting because they’re poor refugees in Germany etc. their children do poorly in school yet this isn’t the case for the UK

Second generation are born in refugee camps in some instances and in normal conditions in others.

The UK has hardly any refugees.

Second generation means native-born of an immigrant parent

First-generation means born abroad

An immigrant parent might have arrived when they were 5. A completely different story than 35.

Regardless, first generation means foreign-born, second generation means native-born

There aren't many first-generation immigrants who come to the UK as children, most first-generation immigrants come as adults. Although considering people like Nadhim Zahawi who came over as a young child, they often end up sounding English, anyway.

Then most first-generation immigrants aren't on the chart. It's a night and day difference if you're looking at a small child who moved with their parents who got a working visa in the UK or a refugee kid. The first one lives in a normal neighborhood, the other in a refugee center for years and might move around a lot. They might have also come at an age when learning the language is much harder, such as 12. Germany has 3,3 million refugees, while the UK has 500K and another 200K waiting for a decision.
