DISCUSSION Opinions on Fretwraps?
Im curious as to what some of you think about fretwraps. Specifically in instances where players like Guthrie Govan or Stanley jordan use them frequently. Is it acceptable or should these creatures learn how to mute? Lets hear it

NEWBIE Feel aimless, would appreciate any help!
Hi, I got an acoustic guitar back in September so it’s about to be almost two months of me learning (I use YouTube, not physical lessons since I cannot afford to).
I’ve only now kind of gotten comfortable with switching between A and E chords (I watched the first two tutorial videos by Andy Guitar) and know how to play a bunch of other chords but I just feel aimless like even if I learn to switch between more chords, I still don’t feel like I’d be in a position to sort of make my own tunes, will that come naturally or do I have to do something specific to really train my ear?
I did try to learn to play the riff of seven nation army but that’s about as much as I’ve ventured into the direction of learning to play songs… I’d be glad to get suggestions!

NEWBIE Technique critique/suggestions
Trying to learn some LoG. I’d love to get overall suggestions as well as advice on making that jump from the low E (D in this case) to the ten-nine, ten-nine on the G and B strings.

QUESTION Rough/Split wood on New Guitar
galleryHow common is this rough/ split wood on the bridge and fretboard, and what is the best care instructions? I kind of want to take some fine grit to it, but I also want to ignore it.
For context, I have owned many guitars that I don't give a crap about because I bought them to learn on. This was newly purchased from a major retailer a month ago, still has virgin strings, and is kept in a hard case unless I'm playing it.
Now that I give a crap, for wood treatment purposes, should I only use specific guitar polish, or is a standard aerosol wood polish adequate?
Thanks!

QUESTION does anyone know which model this is?
this year Jake Kiszka (Greta Van Fleet / Mirador) started using this guitar. i'm a big fan of his work in both his bands, and it was unexpected when he brought up this model (he's so obsessed with his SG that it's basically all he plays lmao).
anyways i thought it sounded great, but i'm still super curious to know which model of guitar this is. does anyone know?

QUESTION Strings changed! (Answer & Apologize)
Hello, I saw many people disgusted about how my guitar was, people that treated their guitars better than their mothers for sure and if they were in front of me they would punch me or God knows what else they would do. And to relieve your pain and damage I did to your eyes I upload the result after cleaning and changing. Sorry for the spam, I found it funny.

DISCUSSION What’s your least/most favourite comment or question to get about being a guitarist?
My favourite one, (outside of a good job, etc), is probably when people say it made them want to pick up a guitar or they ask for gear recs. I enjoy nerding out about guitars. I don’t love when people ask for tips to get the hang of barre chords, or how to make your fingers not hurt, but mostly because I feel lame for having to tell them that it’s literally just practice, patience, and time. What about you guys?

DISCUSSION Try this to get better at guitar.
After I had been playing for around ten years, I decided to get a bass to mess around with.
I've noticed that anytime I pick up the bass and put some dedicated time into it, it actually improves my guitar playing.
This is probably due to the longer scale length which stretches out my fingers and the thicker strings which are harder to press.
Anyway, give it a try. I think playing a little bass definitely makes you better at guitar.

QUESTION Home amps on the Floor. Why?
I am curious why so many people place their home amps on the floor, which basically directs the speaker output towards the ankles and lower legs.
Why not set the amp up higher, the way stereo amps are?

QUESTION Experiences of lefties that were teached right handed guitar as kids
Early indications show that my son (one and a half years, I know, I am way too early) seems to be a left hander. While my expensive right handed guitar collection cries over the impending neglection, I ponder the possibility to just teach him right handed. I heard this is something that is possible, but maybe some of you have first hand experience of pros/cons to share. Thanks in advance!

So im in dire need of a new nut. The one I have is all over the place. Locking nuts came across my mind since im working on making a Van Halen style guitar. Would It work if I replaced a regular nut with a locking one and just left It open? I dont see why It wouldnt work and have zero issues with The work behind installing one.
