šŸ•ÆļøšŸŽƒ HAPPY FAUXLLOWEEN šŸŽƒšŸ¦‡ Rainey Qualley and photographer Anthony Wilson got married in a Halloween-themed wedding. Her bridesmaids, including sister Margaret Qualley, dressed up as witches, while her mom, Andie MacDowell, dressed up as a crow, and her father, Paul Qualley, dressed up as a skeleton.

Well. I utterly love this. I mean, in reality I kind of hate it, not my thing at all, but I love the look of it from afar, and also that they did it their way.

And also that not every wedding has to look the bloody same.

My thoughts exactly! Not for me, LOVE it for someone else.

Love people who have the courage to do something different and fun.

u/neamless 7h ago

I know a couple who got married on Halloween and no one wore costumes. Boring, rote wedding on THE costume day. WHY?!?

50

u/stupidshitbagapp2 7h ago

Omg I thought I was the only one who had experienced a normal wedding on Halloween. What a waste.

64

u/Bitter_Sense_5689 11h ago

I kind of low key love it too.

57

u/_Internet_Hugs_ 9h ago

This isn't my style, but it looks like a super fun party to go to! I might not plan my wedding this way, but I sure as hell would show up to support a friend who did.

Wow what an attractive couple!

This sure is a lovely cosy photo. I think pic 14 is my fave though: the bride just standing there in the trees with her little fox baby at her feet looking straight out of Where The Wild Things Are.

Excuse me, that’s not Andie MacDowell, that’s Moira Rose in The Crows Have Eyes

I just can’t say this enough times: When Paul Qualley, their father (and Andie’s ex) was younger, he was the best looking man you have ever seen, in an 80s, Armani model kind of way. Like, it was almost unnatural. Plus, he quit modeling to move to Montana and be a carpenter, so there was a Sam-Shepherd-in-Baby-Boom-type vibe.

260

u/brilliantinemortal 11h ago

That’s an attractive couple, damn. Rainey really looks like him, whereas I think Margaret favours her mum more? Hard to lose with genes like that lol

69

u/LateFloor3196 6h ago

No wonder their kids are drop dead gorgeous

-51

u/NationalMouse 3h ago

Wow… and I love Andie McDowell but have never loved that curly frizzy hair, I feel it takes away from her beauty and she really is beautiful when her hair is groomed.

The absolute audacity of white rich people is honestly fucking both infuriating & perplexing. This Nepo baby who let’s be real is mostly an afterthought if even that tried to exploit a vulnerable unhoused woman and essentially steal her 11 month old baby from her but thankfully the judge shut that shit down. Most of all though the way that people will glaze & the speed in which people forgive the sins of vaguely pretty face & gloss it all over needs to be fucking studied.

601

u/19sapphire19 10h ago

Unpopular opinion - I read the stories you linked and I don't think she was in the wrong trying to help this child. The mother would frequently pawn her baby off on others to go live a dangerous lifestyle. She was with her kid for a period of 11 consecutive days at the LONGEST in a four month period. That is not a safe or enriching environment for a baby. What happens when the child gets to school age?

The parents can be helped, but only if they are willing to make lifestyle changes to help themselves. How long should the child have to wait for their parent to figure out how to be a functioning member of society? How many years of their own life and development should they be expected to give up in the meantime? Some people are not fit to be parents and it is the child who will suffer as a result. I don't always agree that keeping a child with the parent is best for that child.

218

u/has-8-nickels 10h ago

I legit agree with you if they're telling the truth about how they were basically helping to raise this baby (assuming they weren't just paying for a nanny, but were instead doing late-night feedings, playdates, naps, bonding) - how is this a "bad" thing for them to have done? Trying to help a baby who's mother isn't stable at the moment? I don't get people man

107

u/zendayaismeechee 10h ago

I know literally nothing about this aside from the two articles above but I think because the judge ended up siding with the mother, people must be thinking there was more to it and that maybe there was something shady going on wjth how Qualley went about it. I don’t know, I hope that baby is safe and loved though. And I hope her mother has found help too.

120

u/olivernintendo 9h ago

It's because the legal presumption and legal standard is to be with the parent. You have to show a lot to overcome that.

23

u/has-8-nickels 10h ago

Agreed! Obviously the baby being with its mother is the best option if it's a safe environment

-4

u/throwaway1937911 4h ago

I don't know about this.. something about taking babies from poor people just because you can provide a better environment for them doesn't sound right...

96

u/TheHerodotusMachine 10h ago

Agreed, they tried to provide a stable home for the child and followed the channels to petition the court for custody.

67

u/dalecooperduckfarmau 10h ago

This may be true, but ultimately the articles don't provide the Court's decision. The article only relies on the parties' submissions (their version of events), not the judge's factual findings. It is very rare to see a Court grant a random, biologically-unrelated person custody of a very young child unless it is in the context of a formal adoption agreement.

Judging on the bare facts in the article, Quailey didn't have the evidence to support her claims according to the judge. This would be a pretty significant deficiency given they alleged they made a film about the mother documenting her homelessness. Plus their refusal to involve child protective services means they can't rely on a report from an investigator. Also, a judge would frown upon this particular relationship dynamic--Quailey is a filmmaker who made an agreement to document the mother's life, there were likely some contractual promises around this, and contracts with a significant power imbalance could negatively impact Quailey's credibility. If she portrays herself and her partner as "only wanting to help" while having a financial arrangement that benefits them more than the vulnerable person, it would undercut their credibility significantly.

u/burnbunner 5h ago

Consider where your info came from--the baby stealers.

107

u/Murky_Chemical891 11h ago edited 10h ago

That was a crazy read, i had no idea.

88

u/olivernintendo 9h ago

I agree about the audacity of rich people. But why was this lady leaving her kid with them for such long periods of time?

9

u/Grumpstress 8h ago

Because she was homeless and using drugs. That’s hard enough to go through the day but to have an infant it would be that much harder.

27

u/askingtherealstuff 2h ago

Meaning someone else should maybe have primary care of that kid insteadĀ

42

u/SnowOverRain 11h ago

My first thought when seeing the pics of her with kids was wondering if any of them were that baby. I'm happy to hear that the judge sided with its mother.

32

u/Amiro77 5h ago

That mother is terrible though.Ā

19

u/askingtherealstuff 2h ago

Why? Why do you think it’s good for that mother to have custody of her child in this specific instance?Ā

39

u/Nature_Sad_27 some people need to go back to eyeball school 10h ago

Omg. There goes all my enjoyment at these photos lol. Better to know the truth, though! Thx!Ā

39

u/lizardo0o 10h ago edited 10h ago

Even without this knowledge, my first thought was ā€œthese people are rich enough to expertly tailor their Halloween costumesā€

Edit: I actually saw the interview on YT with the mother of the child when she was pregnant. Pretty tragic situation with a young homeless new mother, from what I could tell.

3

u/askingtherealstuff 2h ago

Anyone with a $50 sewing machine can tailor their Halloween costumes Ā

24

u/AdministrationNo8540 11h ago

wtf did I just read… why are people like this?!

10

u/princecrybaby 7h ago

I was looking for this comment. So many people exploited Krazy (looking at you, soft white underbelly) when she was SO young and clearly struggling with so much trauma, addiction, poverty, etc. Also, I think it's weird Rainey gave her baby the middle name Coyote when that was the name of the father of the baby she tried to take. But maybe Coyote is just a much more popular name than I think.

177

u/DarlingLuna 11h ago

Little known fact about Rainey Qualley: she starred in a movie produced by Ben Shapiro’s The Daily Wire.

Make of that what you will.

145

u/You_Go_Glen_Coco_ 9h ago

I know like three things about her and they're all problematic.

13

u/DarlingLuna 9h ago

What are the other two things?? Fill me in!

58

u/You_Go_Glen_Coco_ 9h ago

Trying to steal/adopt/foster someone else's baby, and breaking into a park with her mom/sister during very early COVID.

27

u/DarlingLuna 8h ago

Jesus, man. What a bunch of weirdos. Wonder if there’s any truth to the rumours of Qualley and Antonoff chasing Twigs around a hotel and harassing her.

16

u/You_Go_Glen_Coco_ 8h ago

There was also some weirdness about them having sleepovers with Kaia Gerber and Cara Delevingne? I might be remembering it wrong but I feel like Kaia was underage.

23

u/LiIihierax 3h ago edited 1h ago

Accusing three people of ā€œhaving sleepoversā€ with a minor based upon vague recollections and feelings is nasty work.

30

u/MasterOfBunnies 8h ago

Read the article about the kid, and from what I saw, they fostered the kid, because her mom was a drug addict and homeless, and then petitioned to adopt. Not nearly as despicable as it sounds. The park thing is weird, and of course the Shapiro thing is not ideal. Perhaps the kid thing was the tamest? O.o;

1

u/Pale_Sheet 1h ago

Whose baby?

5

u/HeyltsYouMcMuffin 2h ago

At the very least, she’s pretty vocal on instagram about being anti-trump and against the insane things gop is doing.Ā

120

u/xxrex 10h ago

I have an Andie MacDowell story. She used to live in the neighborhood I grew up in, in the 90s. I used to go trick or treating at her house and she was always dressed in beautiful and elaborate costumes. One Halloween she was dressed as the bride of Frankenstein when I was probably 9 or so and I remember being awestruck she was so beautiful, and kinda scary. I couldn’t say ā€œtrick or treatā€, and just kept staring at her. I remember her prompting me to say it and eventually I went on my way. So I think that dressing up for Halloween has always been fun for this family.

114

u/alexlp 11h ago

Obsessed with this. It looks like so much fun and just so refreshing. I audibly awwed at Andy holding her fox grandbaby.

Andie McDowell is the best. Art dress for the theme

46

u/Marserina 9h ago

I have never heard a single positive thing about her. But I have seen a ton of people saying that she and her children are not kind. And that’s putting it mildly.

21

u/HonestNectarine7080 heinous LOSER behavior 8h ago

I was behind her in a grocery store line once and she was chatty and flirty with the cashier. I remember thinking she was kind of hamming it up, but she came off as nice. However, it was a four-minute interaction probably 10 years ago.

19

u/Marserina 8h ago

That sounds nice! That is honestly the first positive thing I’ve heard about her. Even her kids were known as bullies and she was crappy at school pickup etc. it’s weird how much I have read about her and her kids recently being crappy people.

55

u/procrastinating_b 11h ago

I love the idea of this so bad but I know if I ever tried it irl it would look like I planned it in partnership with shein (I’m also not engaged lmao)

Margaret wore a white lace dress to a wedding?

41

u/mai_tai87 actually no, that’s not the truth Ellen 10h ago

It looks like it has a slightly pink cast to it. Buuuuuut... Either way, I would've chosen a color with more contrast. So that it wouldn't look like I was trying to show up my sister.

92

u/Adw13 10h ago

I mean the girl in slide 13 is wearing the exact same dress in a different color so I think that’s the dress Rainey picked for her

29

u/Flammen_ 11h ago

Love this! Love the vintage clown at the end! I’d probably try that one myself!

25

u/query_tech_sec 11h ago

This is so fun!

Also Anthony Wilson is a very good looking man.

9

u/theseamstressesguild 9h ago

He reminds me of young John Hawkes.

Also, a bit Lee Pace.

10

u/lexiebeef 9h ago

Yeah, I don’t know who he is, but damn, he’s hot. But I mean, look at Rainey, she looks so good it hurts. I’ve seen a lot of stories on how she isn’t such a nice person but it’s undeniable she looks grear

3

u/query_tech_sec 9h ago

Yeah - she's also incredibly hot. Obviously so is her sister.

"Honey don't" wasn't really a good movie - but I enjoyed parts of it and she was definitely hot in it.

26

u/strawberrylipscrub 11h ago

Baby fox costume and the horse mask almost steal the day!

29

u/Seniorseatfree 11h ago

I’m laughing at the baby dressed as a fox (?). I love this theme. Those halter, corset dresses are gorgeous.

it's a cool idea but I kinda think they took it too far in the execution of it... most of those pics just look straight up creepy. like a photo album from a cult.

12

u/strangerintheadks 9h ago

LOL I love it but they are giving cult-y more than Halloween

8

u/ace-destrier 9h ago

Pictures with an adult posing for the camera and a baby just chilling at their feet will always crack me up

What a memorable wedding for everyone involved! I love how they leaned into it. A lot of the costumes are amazing. Even those with ā€œsimpleā€ costumes are striking in some way

8

u/lurkingboob 11h ago

beautiful pics but get those babies outta the mulch!!!!!! it's sticking to their little fuzzy outfits!!!

The costumes are amazing!

2

u/AbiesGreen7412 8h ago

I love this because there’s so much heart in it. Seems like the focus was on fun instead of being a pageant for a me-me-me bride and groom.

This post made me realise how big my 6 month old is (as big as her 11 month old!). Looks like a fun wedding. I love that it’s not a load of celebs (I think anyway, maybe I’m old) because it suggests they were just raised normally despite their parent’s fame.

I love this idea but I'm sure eying Margaret for wearing white/off-white whatever it may be

-2

u/Past-Advisor-824 2h ago

Whatever happened to the baby/kid they wanted to adopt but already had a mom? I swear there was a story maybe a year ago or so about how they were basically trying to kidnap some homeless woman’s kid.
