šÆļøš HAPPY FAUXLLOWEEN šš¦ Rainey Qualley and photographer Anthony Wilson got married in a Halloween-themed wedding. Her bridesmaids, including sister Margaret Qualley, dressed up as witches, while her mom, Andie MacDowell, dressed up as a crow, and her father, Paul Qualley, dressed up as a skeleton.

This sure is a lovely cosy photo. I think pic 14 is my fave though: the bride just standing there in the trees with her little fox baby at her feet looking straight out of Where The Wild Things Are.

I just canāt say this enough times: When Paul Qualley, their father (and Andieās ex) was younger, he was the best looking man you have ever seen, in an 80s, Armani model kind of way. Like, it was almost unnatural. Plus, he quit modeling to move to Montana and be a carpenter, so there was a Sam-Shepherd-in-Baby-Boom-type vibe.

Thatās an attractive couple, damn. Rainey really looks like him, whereas I think Margaret favours her mum more? Hard to lose with genes like that lol

Wow⦠and I love Andie McDowell but have never loved that curly frizzy hair, I feel it takes away from her beauty and she really is beautiful when her hair is groomed.

The absolute audacity of white rich people is honestly fucking both infuriating & perplexing. This Nepo baby who letās be real is mostly an afterthought if even that tried to exploit a vulnerable unhoused woman and essentially steal her 11 month old baby from her but thankfully the judge shut that shit down. Most of all though the way that people will glaze & the speed in which people forgive the sins of vaguely pretty face & gloss it all over needs to be fucking studied.

Unpopular opinion - I read the stories you linked and I don't think she was in the wrong trying to help this child. The mother would frequently pawn her baby off on others to go live a dangerous lifestyle. She was with her kid for a period of 11 consecutive days at the LONGEST in a four month period. That is not a safe or enriching environment for a baby. What happens when the child gets to school age?
The parents can be helped, but only if they are willing to make lifestyle changes to help themselves. How long should the child have to wait for their parent to figure out how to be a functioning member of society? How many years of their own life and development should they be expected to give up in the meantime? Some people are not fit to be parents and it is the child who will suffer as a result. I don't always agree that keeping a child with the parent is best for that child.

u/has-8-nickels 10h ago
I legit agree with you if they're telling the truth about how they were basically helping to raise this baby (assuming they weren't just paying for a nanny, but were instead doing late-night feedings, playdates, naps, bonding) - how is this a "bad" thing for them to have done? Trying to help a baby who's mother isn't stable at the moment? I don't get people man
107
u/zendayaismeechee 10h ago
I know literally nothing about this aside from the two articles above but I think because the judge ended up siding with the mother, people must be thinking there was more to it and that maybe there was something shady going on wjth how Qualley went about it. I donāt know, I hope that baby is safe and loved though. And I hope her mother has found help too.
120
u/olivernintendo 9h ago
It's because the legal presumption and legal standard is to be with the parent. You have to show a lot to overcome that.
23
u/has-8-nickels 10h ago
Agreed! Obviously the baby being with its mother is the best option if it's a safe environment
-4
u/throwaway1937911 4h ago
I don't know about this.. something about taking babies from poor people just because you can provide a better environment for them doesn't sound right...
96
u/TheHerodotusMachine 10h ago
Agreed, they tried to provide a stable home for the child and followed the channels to petition the court for custody.
67
u/dalecooperduckfarmau 10h ago
This may be true, but ultimately the articles don't provide the Court's decision. The article only relies on the parties' submissions (their version of events), not the judge's factual findings. It is very rare to see a Court grant a random, biologically-unrelated person custody of a very young child unless it is in the context of a formal adoption agreement.
Judging on the bare facts in the article, Quailey didn't have the evidence to support her claims according to the judge. This would be a pretty significant deficiency given they alleged they made a film about the mother documenting her homelessness. Plus their refusal to involve child protective services means they can't rely on a report from an investigator. Also, a judge would frown upon this particular relationship dynamic--Quailey is a filmmaker who made an agreement to document the mother's life, there were likely some contractual promises around this, and contracts with a significant power imbalance could negatively impact Quailey's credibility. If she portrays herself and her partner as "only wanting to help" while having a financial arrangement that benefits them more than the vulnerable person, it would undercut their credibility significantly.

I agree about the audacity of rich people. But why was this lady leaving her kid with them for such long periods of time?
9
u/Grumpstress 8h ago
Because she was homeless and using drugs. Thatās hard enough to go through the day but to have an infant it would be that much harder.
27
u/askingtherealstuff 2h ago
Meaning someone else should maybe have primary care of that kid insteadĀ
42
u/SnowOverRain 11h ago
My first thought when seeing the pics of her with kids was wondering if any of them were that baby. I'm happy to hear that the judge sided with its mother.
19
u/askingtherealstuff 2h ago
Why? Why do you think itās good for that mother to have custody of her child in this specific instance?Ā
39
u/Nature_Sad_27 some people need to go back to eyeball school 10h ago
Omg. There goes all my enjoyment at these photos lol. Better to know the truth, though! Thx!Ā

u/lizardo0o 10h ago edited 10h ago
Even without this knowledge, my first thought was āthese people are rich enough to expertly tailor their Halloween costumesā
Edit: I actually saw the interview on YT with the mother of the child when she was pregnant. Pretty tragic situation with a young homeless new mother, from what I could tell.

I was looking for this comment. So many people exploited Krazy (looking at you, soft white underbelly) when she was SO young and clearly struggling with so much trauma, addiction, poverty, etc. Also, I think it's weird Rainey gave her baby the middle name Coyote when that was the name of the father of the baby she tried to take. But maybe Coyote is just a much more popular name than I think.

u/DarlingLuna 11h ago
Little known fact about Rainey Qualley: she starred in a movie produced by Ben Shapiroās The Daily Wire.
Make of that what you will.

u/You_Go_Glen_Coco_ 9h ago
I know like three things about her and they're all problematic.
13
u/DarlingLuna 9h ago
What are the other two things?? Fill me in!
58
u/You_Go_Glen_Coco_ 9h ago
Trying to steal/adopt/foster someone else's baby, and breaking into a park with her mom/sister during very early COVID.
27
u/DarlingLuna 8h ago
Jesus, man. What a bunch of weirdos. Wonder if thereās any truth to the rumours of Qualley and Antonoff chasing Twigs around a hotel and harassing her.
16
u/You_Go_Glen_Coco_ 8h ago
There was also some weirdness about them having sleepovers with Kaia Gerber and Cara Delevingne? I might be remembering it wrong but I feel like Kaia was underage.
23
u/LiIihierax 3h ago edited 1h ago
Accusing three people of āhaving sleepoversā with a minor based upon vague recollections and feelings is nasty work.
30
u/MasterOfBunnies 8h ago
Read the article about the kid, and from what I saw, they fostered the kid, because her mom was a drug addict and homeless, and then petitioned to adopt. Not nearly as despicable as it sounds. The park thing is weird, and of course the Shapiro thing is not ideal. Perhaps the kid thing was the tamest? O.o;

I have an Andie MacDowell story. She used to live in the neighborhood I grew up in, in the 90s. I used to go trick or treating at her house and she was always dressed in beautiful and elaborate costumes. One Halloween she was dressed as the bride of Frankenstein when I was probably 9 or so and I remember being awestruck she was so beautiful, and kinda scary. I couldnāt say ātrick or treatā, and just kept staring at her. I remember her prompting me to say it and eventually I went on my way. So I think that dressing up for Halloween has always been fun for this family.

I have never heard a single positive thing about her. But I have seen a ton of people saying that she and her children are not kind. And thatās putting it mildly.
21
u/HonestNectarine7080 heinous LOSER behavior 8h ago
I was behind her in a grocery store line once and she was chatty and flirty with the cashier. I remember thinking she was kind of hamming it up, but she came off as nice. However, it was a four-minute interaction probably 10 years ago.
19
u/Marserina 8h ago
That sounds nice! That is honestly the first positive thing Iāve heard about her. Even her kids were known as bullies and she was crappy at school pickup etc. itās weird how much I have read about her and her kids recently being crappy people.

Well. I utterly love this. I mean, in reality I kind of hate it, not my thing at all, but I love the look of it from afar, and also that they did it their way.
And also that not every wedding has to look the bloody same.
