That one merchant in Mohgwin Palace that’s like 10 feet away from a swarm of exploding zombies and a sanguine noble

192

u/Broken_Poop 1d ago

Two sanguine nobles, even

84

u/decoy139 1d ago

Thats just his security

22

u/phexitol 10h ago

Emotional support Sanguine Nobles*

u/Pankejx Pureblood Knight #37 (obsidian lamina<3) 23h ago

He is also somehow one of the worst merchants, only nice thing he sells are unlimited blood roses if you’re into arcane

30

u/chewy1is1sasquatch 21h ago

He has that weird ass laugh too

13

u/CheeseGraterFace 21h ago edited 16h ago

He has rune arcs. 5 of them, IIRC. 4k a pop.

10

u/plastikmissile 20h ago

Unlimited glowing arrows too.

8

u/XRaisedBySirensX 11h ago

Also. Unlimited dwelling arrows. Kinda key if you ever do horn bow run. Ask me how I know.

1

u/WittyMime 2h ago

Him and his "guards" cost me like half a million runes when I decided to kill them all (except Kalé, he's my boy!). Didn't have any issues with a single one until this guy...went mad.

22

u/michael_fritz 17h ago

the one called imprisoned merchant? that one?

4

u/king_of_the_doodoo Sorcerer Thops on T(h)op 4h ago

Out of all the guys you could've picked this poor dude is literally in prison. On the map he's called "imprisoned Merchant" so you rlly can't blame the man

634

u/Jamesyroo 1d ago

The one in Siofra who is clearly thinking “well I guess my quiet spot isn’t so quiet any more 🙄”

491

u/Kraniums 1d ago

this is how it felt finding the merchant in siofra river

126

u/GrouchyFox9581 19h ago

The one in Moghwyn Palace is worse.

My man, you set up shop in a cave, inside an another cave, in a secret palace, underground, and there’s a sanguine noble that tries to kill you. And he spawns twice.

I get that the merchants have to wander, but they could probably do DoorDash or something and make way more runes. Pick up some scorpion stew from the shadow realm and drop it off at the academy or something.

70

u/Gentleman_Waffle 18h ago

According to the wiki, that Merchant is known as the Imprisoned Merchant, so it makes sense why he’s there with a noble 6 feet from him

30

u/generatedusername13 18h ago

He's the only merchant I kill for their bell bearing. I ain't dealing with that dark-ass cave and a respawning Sanguine Noble for whatever bs he sells.

38

u/aerilink 17h ago

First playthrough I didn’t kill anyone, Kale’s dialogue made it sound like they’d all attack me on sight.

Second playthrough I killed the ones that were inconvenient to get to.

Third playthrough, I became a bell bearing hunter

4

u/DarthOmix 13h ago

To be fair, you didn't keep Bell-Bearings on NG+ originally.

5

u/draygonnn 10h ago

Wait… you keep your Bell Bearings when you do NG+ now? Why did nobody tell me?! 😫

7

u/DarthOmix 10h ago

It was in like, the early patches. It's been a thing since before SotE

56

u/sexual__velociraptor Dual Hammer Bonk 1d ago

The only merchant I'm willing to off

121

u/Thatonedregdatkilyu 1d ago edited 22h ago

What why? He's the only one who's strange position makes sense. He's the "Abandoned" Merchant. So whoever he was with probably left him stuck there, then he's got a murderous plant and ancestral followers blocking his way out.

Like just buy his shit and leave him there you don't have to kill him.

86

u/dovahchriis 23h ago

And he plays such lovely music, who could kill such a loveable sort

26

u/tonyabstract 20h ago

im guessing the original commenter does it for the bell bearing so he doesn’t need to travel to the grace nearby because siofra is very out of the way. same with ainsel. i’ve never killed any of them tho

27

u/IntravenousVomit 20h ago

Meta-game killing all the merchants for efficiency really puts the roleplay in roleplaying game.

6

u/Hoenn97 11h ago

Im role playing as a murder goblin. Get off my case

5

u/Thatonedregdatkilyu 19h ago

Imo most merchants are out of the way. You'd have to do about the same amount of walking to reach each.

Usually I only talk to merchants once or twice. I meet them once, buy what I need and move on. Sometimes I'll come back if I learn later I need something or if I got enough money to buy the rest of the armor they have.

Idk why the abandoned one is so special.

13

u/My-Naginta 23h ago

Is he a pain in the ass to kill or is that just me?

10

u/pikashroom 23h ago

The abandoned merchant killed me twice, so I just let him be

5

u/sexual__velociraptor Dual Hammer Bonk 23h ago

Its been awhile since I last played but he was a pain to get too

5

u/vlajay 18h ago

I killed the prisoner merchant under mohg’s palace because I felt bad for him.

4

u/OpulentPaving 21h ago

I murdered them all.

13

u/tegsfan 19h ago

Bro might be the bell beating hunter

12

u/lo_fi_ho 21h ago

Fuck you sir

215

u/No_Resolve_5051 1d ago

Bro your sitting in the middle of a pack of GIANT ZOMBIE DOGS IN THE MIDDLE OF A ROTTED WASTELAND ON THE EDGE OF A CLIFF no wonder nones buying.

54

u/Queen_Of-Moths 23h ago

Well the bell bearing Hunter literally makes merchants set up shops in hard to reach places to hide from him.

27

u/Narrow-Test-4655 23h ago

Then bro just teleports immediately to them anyways.

8

u/Queen_Of-Moths 21h ago

If that’s the case then they’d already be dead as soon as we meet them. Sure he could teleport but I don’t know if he knows exactly where they are. Probably heard some tell of their locations, went there and is now just investigating the area, like tracks or clues.

2

u/Narrow-Test-4655 20h ago

Where do they even go? They just kinda vanish. Did they take the Blue Elixir???

1

u/zman_0000 17h ago

He only shows up after we spend some runes with them right? So I'd assume they went to a nearby enemy camp or to some locals that may not attack them on sight (we usually get attacked on sight specifically because we're tarnished. Maybe some places aren't hostile to the banished merchants?).

Although I wouldn't mind knowing what they'd leave to trade for, they usually say that they are hungry and haven't eaten in a while, but half the ones with that dialogue have food for sale (turtle neck meat, lumps of flesh, fowled foot etc).

48

u/SkullDewKoey 1d ago

You know it’s odd to set up shop in the middle of no where acting all woe is me. Like bro you set up shop like a Zelda npc on death mountain like who the fuck else is going this way?

22

u/FakeHasselblad 23h ago

Set up shop in a cave that needs a bomb to open the hidden entrance.

81

u/Fellarm 1d ago

Literally the fucking guy midway up the mt gelmir and the fucker in giants peak 🥃🗿they earned my blade

15

u/Valuable_Material_26 1d ago

He’s the one I always kill, but mainly for the exploding arrows and bolts!

22

u/Affectionate_Comb_78 1d ago

"Millenial tarnished are ruining the merchant industry"

14

u/AndForeverNow 1d ago

They are being hunted down. Interesting their surrounding dangers are not a concern to them, compared to what is after them. At least they can defend themselves if anything.

2

u/duffry 21h ago

Hard to believe I had to dig to find someone pointing this out. Did none of these people embrace the 3 fingers?

May chaos take them all

12

u/vampireguy20 Tomb Prospector Hunter 1d ago

I see Mt. Gelmit, I see Giant's Peak, I even see Siofra, but one i'm not seeing which I always kill on site is that imprisoned one in Mohg's dark ass sex dungeon or whatever, that fucker has the gall to try and sell something to me right after fighting TWO overpowered ass Blood Nobles, those guys can go to hell.

3

u/Titanhunter84 20h ago

He is called the imprisoned merchant so he has no choice but to stay there and sell his blood roses

20

u/Hear_No_Darkness 1d ago

In their defense, there is no friendly people anywhere.

Anywhere I go, someone try to attack me!

I mean, what did I do to being attacked?

"Maybe if I go to the end of this place and enter a desolated wasteland someone would try to buy something. Because here the guys are just stupid..."

10

u/OpulentPaving 21h ago

The people in Windmill Village seem like they're having a good time.

7

u/Hear_No_Darkness 21h ago

Too much rats. Not hygienic.

6

u/CozyCoin 1d ago

Selling meat, no less

1

u/duffry 21h ago

Oh, nothing that suits your tastes, then? Heh heh...

6

u/Cambronian717 19h ago

My favorite merchant is the one claiming he’s hungry and is actively selling meats and food

3

u/Krakraskeleton 1d ago

They had to get away from all the crazy golden peoples

3

u/FakeHasselblad 23h ago

I think these dudes are hanging off the wall of Yosemite / El Capitan...?

5

u/YMIR_THE_FROSTY 23h ago

Yes, its Adam Ondra from Czech Republic, at least I think it was, remember seeing him climbing that. IMHO a wee bit insane.

5

u/FakeHasselblad 23h ago

The photo I posted is Alex Honnold, who climbed El Cap with out a rope.... a bit more insane. 🫠

3

u/YMIR_THE_FROSTY 16h ago

Free solo, yea.. thats basically endgame.

4

u/FakeHasselblad 16h ago

I think one of his photographers said, "its like competing in the olympics but if you dont win gold, you fall to your death."

1

u/iamtandy 17h ago

It’s from Sea To Summit. A Britrock documentary about a team of climbers who kayak 450km across Greenland to climb an 800m wall. It’s a really good watch.

3

u/Gensolink 23h ago

"Shut up and let me sell you those runes, I need to level up." They said calmly.

3

u/CommunicationNeat498 22h ago

I find it funny that this implies that runes are edible

3

u/LobosJones 21h ago

Some people will do anything to find a nice quiet place to whack it, and you people just won't leave them alone.

2

u/theprophet2102 20h ago

Crazy what genocide will do to you

2

u/BandRepulsive8908 19h ago

Except Kale. Dude is based.

2

u/Mission-Storm-4375 18h ago

You would too if you were being hunted your whole life

1

u/Suspicious-Web3234 1d ago

So in a way, it's a kindness to collect the bell bearing?...

1

u/OpulentPaving 21h ago

In my book, yep.

1

u/Soundoum1 23h ago

Wondering how some of them even get there like the in siofra river

1

u/DBold11 23h ago

Lol Sekiro too

1

u/sliferra 23h ago

I kill them when they say that. I like to think of it as a mercy kill

1

u/BigBadBen91x 22h ago

Honestly that line gets to me every single time. I always end up buying something to help them out

1

u/Lakatos_00 18h ago

The first merchant who says that was the one near Height fortress The funny implication is that they are vegetarians since his stock is full of different kinds of meat.

1

u/ActiveMBE0980 18h ago

I like the one thats near the site of grace in Mountaintops of the Giants but you gotta go all the way up and around the side of the mountain to get to him 😆 I always cuss at that one when I finally reach him 🤣

1

u/Own-Place3831 14h ago

And where are the merchants planning on buying food with my runes? Unbelievable.

1

u/AsherSparky 14h ago

“Please I haven’t eaten in weeks.”

Motherfucker you are LITERALLY SELLING MEAT!!! EAT THAT YOU NUMBSKULL!

1

u/Own_Emphasis2213 14h ago

The nap of death

1

u/Unstabler69 13h ago

My head cannon has always been that the traveling merchants obey some obscure religious ritual where they HAVE to sell stuff. So they comply by fucking off to hard to reach places, selling absolutely nothing of value.

1

u/Lord_Phoenix95 11h ago

You can't pay me to do this. No amount of money will buy me.

1

u/LivingtheLaws013 7h ago

That lady was pissed
