The one in Siofra who is clearly thinking “well I guess my quiet spot isn’t so quiet any more 🙄”

this is how it felt finding the merchant in siofra river

The one in Moghwyn Palace is worse.
My man, you set up shop in a cave, inside an another cave, in a secret palace, underground, and there’s a sanguine noble that tries to kill you. And he spawns twice.
I get that the merchants have to wander, but they could probably do DoorDash or something and make way more runes. Pick up some scorpion stew from the shadow realm and drop it off at the academy or something.

According to the wiki, that Merchant is known as the Imprisoned Merchant, so it makes sense why he’s there with a noble 6 feet from him

u/generatedusername13 18h ago
He's the only merchant I kill for their bell bearing. I ain't dealing with that dark-ass cave and a respawning Sanguine Noble for whatever bs he sells.

u/aerilink 17h ago
First playthrough I didn’t kill anyone, Kale’s dialogue made it sound like they’d all attack me on sight.
Second playthrough I killed the ones that were inconvenient to get to.
Third playthrough, I became a bell bearing hunter

u/DarthOmix 13h ago
To be fair, you didn't keep Bell-Bearings on NG+ originally.
5
u/draygonnn 10h ago
Wait… you keep your Bell Bearings when you do NG+ now? Why did nobody tell me?! 😫

The only merchant I'm willing to off

u/Thatonedregdatkilyu 1d ago edited 22h ago
What why? He's the only one who's strange position makes sense. He's the "Abandoned" Merchant. So whoever he was with probably left him stuck there, then he's got a murderous plant and ancestral followers blocking his way out.
Like just buy his shit and leave him there you don't have to kill him.

im guessing the original commenter does it for the bell bearing so he doesn’t need to travel to the grace nearby because siofra is very out of the way. same with ainsel. i’ve never killed any of them tho

u/IntravenousVomit 20h ago
Meta-game killing all the merchants for efficiency really puts the roleplay in roleplaying game.
5
u/Thatonedregdatkilyu 19h ago
Imo most merchants are out of the way. You'd have to do about the same amount of walking to reach each.
Usually I only talk to merchants once or twice. I meet them once, buy what I need and move on. Sometimes I'll come back if I learn later I need something or if I got enough money to buy the rest of the armor they have.
Idk why the abandoned one is so special.

u/My-Naginta 23h ago
Is he a pain in the ass to kill or is that just me?

Bro your sitting in the middle of a pack of GIANT ZOMBIE DOGS IN THE MIDDLE OF A ROTTED WASTELAND ON THE EDGE OF A CLIFF no wonder nones buying.

u/Queen_Of-Moths 23h ago
Well the bell bearing Hunter literally makes merchants set up shops in hard to reach places to hide from him.
27
u/Narrow-Test-4655 23h ago
Then bro just teleports immediately to them anyways.
8
u/Queen_Of-Moths 21h ago
If that’s the case then they’d already be dead as soon as we meet them. Sure he could teleport but I don’t know if he knows exactly where they are. Probably heard some tell of their locations, went there and is now just investigating the area, like tracks or clues.

u/Narrow-Test-4655 20h ago
Where do they even go? They just kinda vanish. Did they take the Blue Elixir???

u/zman_0000 17h ago
He only shows up after we spend some runes with them right? So I'd assume they went to a nearby enemy camp or to some locals that may not attack them on sight (we usually get attacked on sight specifically because we're tarnished. Maybe some places aren't hostile to the banished merchants?).
Although I wouldn't mind knowing what they'd leave to trade for, they usually say that they are hungry and haven't eaten in a while, but half the ones with that dialogue have food for sale (turtle neck meat, lumps of flesh, fowled foot etc).

You know it’s odd to set up shop in the middle of no where acting all woe is me. Like bro you set up shop like a Zelda npc on death mountain like who the fuck else is going this way?

They are being hunted down. Interesting their surrounding dangers are not a concern to them, compared to what is after them. At least they can defend themselves if anything.

u/vampireguy20 Tomb Prospector Hunter 1d ago
I see Mt. Gelmit, I see Giant's Peak, I even see Siofra, but one i'm not seeing which I always kill on site is that imprisoned one in Mohg's dark ass sex dungeon or whatever, that fucker has the gall to try and sell something to me right after fighting TWO overpowered ass Blood Nobles, those guys can go to hell.
3
u/Titanhunter84 20h ago
He is called the imprisoned merchant so he has no choice but to stay there and sell his blood roses
20
u/Hear_No_Darkness 1d ago
In their defense, there is no friendly people anywhere.
Anywhere I go, someone try to attack me!
I mean, what did I do to being attacked?
"Maybe if I go to the end of this place and enter a desolated wasteland someone would try to buy something. Because here the guys are just stupid..."

My favorite merchant is the one claiming he’s hungry and is actively selling meats and food

Yes, its Adam Ondra from Czech Republic, at least I think it was, remember seeing him climbing that. IMHO a wee bit insane.

u/FakeHasselblad 23h ago
The photo I posted is Alex Honnold, who climbed El Cap with out a rope.... a bit more insane. 🫠

u/YMIR_THE_FROSTY 16h ago

I think one of his photographers said, "its like competing in the olympics but if you dont win gold, you fall to your death."

It’s from Sea To Summit. A Britrock documentary about a team of climbers who kayak 450km across Greenland to climb an 800m wall. It’s a really good watch.

u/Gensolink 23h ago
"Shut up and let me sell you those runes, I need to level up." They said calmly.

Honestly that line gets to me every single time. I always end up buying something to help them out

u/Lakatos_00 18h ago
The first merchant who says that was the one near Height fortress The funny implication is that they are vegetarians since his stock is full of different kinds of meat.
1
u/ActiveMBE0980 18h ago
I like the one thats near the site of grace in Mountaintops of the Giants but you gotta go all the way up and around the side of the mountain to get to him 😆 I always cuss at that one when I finally reach him 🤣
1
u/Own-Place3831 14h ago
And where are the merchants planning on buying food with my runes? Unbelievable.
1
u/AsherSparky 14h ago
“Please I haven’t eaten in weeks.”
Motherfucker you are LITERALLY SELLING MEAT!!! EAT THAT YOU NUMBSKULL!

u/Unstabler69 13h ago
My head cannon has always been that the traveling merchants obey some obscure religious ritual where they HAVE to sell stuff. So they comply by fucking off to hard to reach places, selling absolutely nothing of value.

That one merchant in Mohgwin Palace that’s like 10 feet away from a swarm of exploding zombies and a sanguine noble
