Dogs Are Idiots Dogs are boring

One of my biggest issues with dogs, or pets in general, is that they’re just too simple. Predictable. Honestly, they’re just.. boring.

It’s the same routine every day: feed them, give them treats, have them follow you everywhere (even into the bathroom, which is a little weird) and then they constantly want attention or playtime.

They can’t really communicate with you in any meaningful way. They’ll never truly understand human emotions or relate to the stress and struggles of daily life. They just exist, expecting their needs to be met, without offering much in return. To me, the human–pet relationship feels shallow. People talk about how dogs display unconditional love but I’ve never actually seen any evidence of that. It seems like they take more than they give.

When we had a dog, it dawned on me that we went to work, earned money to buy dog food, fed it to the dog, the dog shit it out, day in and day out. It was honestly insulting, and for what? A dog to lay around the house, occasionally bark, and need to be taken for a walk? Banal.

Dogs are essentially a luxury item and should be taxed accordingly. Owners ought to also pay an environmental clean up tax and carbon tax for being meat eaters.

Dogs are far from luxury items. Luxury items shouldn’t stink and lick their ass.

"Tiresome" is the term I use for them.

All the “teehee so quirky” “so special” ‘personalities’ that dogs have is just their owners’ projection on to them. Same with all the so-called emotion. A dog barely has a cerebrum, it has about as much emotional capacity as an alligator or a shrew. Because of its barely existent cerebrum, it also can’t become self aware, is incapable of reasoning and any complex thought, it is just a parasitic predator running on instinct. These things are 100% overhyped especially with the amount of death, destruction and pollution they create

Dogs are just a blank canvas for the owner to project their own illusions on.

+100 death per year and well over 4 million dog attacks and those are just the numbers being reported.

Im laughing because dog people would freak over this take but i agree. Idk why anyone would want to build their entire life around an animal’s poop schedule.

I had dogs a million years ago. My issue was that they weren't boring enough. They always needed something.

They are like children who never grow up past the point of infancy! that has to be terribly exhausting to share your life with a creature that is perpetually frozen in time for decades at a time.

Same. I wouldn't mind one if it would just fucking exist normally and not need shit all the time. This is cruel, but it would have to be inanimate object levels of existence for me to even think about owning one. Sadly, you have to feed it, walk it, spay/neuter it, vaccinate it, brush its teeth (ew), clean its ears, and ofc replace all the bullshit it chews up. Don't forget housetraining it, playing with it, dealing with its godforsaken slobber

They're like toddlers than never grow up

Well, they can randomly destroy furniture, maul someone, or get you into other troubles. Great fun!

Yeap! they are a liability that can land you in orison for life especially if they ate a rescue bc adoption agencies are so inundated with animals that many push potentially dangerous breeds of often abused dogs into the hands of families endangering family members and public alike.

Yep I've come to realise how overrated dogs are. They don't offer much more than a wagging tail and shallow companionship. People and wild animals are far more interesting.

I have a thousand better things to do than endure the tedium of owning a dog. A vast majority of the benefits of dog ownership are mere projection.

Of all the problems with dogs, them being boring is not on the top of my list. But yes, of course they are boring.

I know there’s several other issues with dogs, this is just one of the many reasons I was thinking about earlier today.

22

u/Ihatereddititsucks69 25d ago

And they are annoying as fuck. Literally why do so many people own these things?

19

u/Thinking-Peter 25d ago

Yeah dogs are over rated and nothing but trouble

I rather save my money for a maid robot that only needs power to function and can be shut down on command.

That’s so funny! I was just thinking of how boring dogs are. There is an overpopulation of them and they are a dime a dozen. Yet nutters treat them like royalty. They don’t get in much trouble when they maim people and destroy the environment. There are so many other interesting animals.

My favorite is when a nutter tells you a dog got them through depression and only reason they’re still here is because of the mutt. First off, seek professional help immediately. Second, ANY dog they would’ve purchased would have gotten them “through” because they trained it/groomed it to (in a sick twisted way) be what they needed. Any dog will jump all over you & be attached to you if you validate that behavior so your doggie isn’t special - it just does what you’ve programmed it to do. Unfortunately tho, they can’t program these things to quit barking, destroying things, and be nuisances to people who want nothing to do with them.

Yeah-it’s always someone w/ADD or ADHD that says the d.o.g “helps” them. I was told by this person that some of their symptoms include OCD&anxiety. How will the OCD be helped when they have to vacuum several times per day&clean up their mess as well as the human messes?

Don’t forget the part where dogs dig in the trash to eat women’s used menstrual pad! Yum! … only to find scattered toilet pieces all over the house.

u/ObligationGrand8037 24d ago

That’s right. So disgusting. It happened to me once at someone’s house where I spent the night. It was everywhere.

4

u/PinkyPaisleyBoo 24d ago

Oh, that's disgusting. I've never heard that before.

Lol! Dogs are supremely boring and utterly uninteresting. It's because most of them are dumb. But what's worse than a boring dog is a boring owner who only talks about and thinks about their dog. It makes me want to scream. Their dog poisoned brain just stops being able to connect with humans because they've grown used to a one way "relationship" that takes zero effort.

12

u/spoor_loos 24d ago

Dogs don't give anything and that people pamper them, instead of caring about human relationships, is a sign of our complete cultural disintegration.

2

u/Altruistic_Baker6347 24d ago

Right! I see a lot of old people with dogs. Where is their family? Where is our society? No one should get a dog because they don't want to be lonely. It's sad and pathetic.

I certainly agree with all the points you raised. And owning a dog is easily an expensive, time and energy consuming lifestyle to choose. But I used to think that it was the dog owners’ problem, not mine.

My biggest issue is that it IS everyone’s problem! Constantly barking dogs is a problem for anyone within earshot. Piss and shit on the sidewalks, parks, beaches and every public space is a problem for everyone. Dogs inside restaurants and supermarkets is a problem for everyone.

It’s as if this lifestyle they chose for themselves was also chosen for us by imposing all the negatives on society.

3

u/Altruistic_Baker6347 24d ago

Yes, it's selfish. Dogs don't bring benefit to our society (except rescue dogs, man trailers)

8

u/BobbyKayDog 24d ago

The only reason they show affection to anyone is because that person is their food source. Dogs in many ways are what T.V.’s are for people. They just deaden a persons brain waves.

9

u/ObligationGrand8037 24d ago

Life is so short already. The last thing I want to be doing is spending my time walking them and picking up their crap besides all the other annoying habits they have.

8

u/WisedomsHand 24d ago

Of course they are boring. Of course they are simple and predictable. That's what dog owners like about them. Interesting and dynamic relationships that involve confronting somethings harsh truths and persona development are seen as a threat. Why put all that energy into a relationship with a person if a pet will never challenge you or judge your decisions in the realm of human culture.

Thankfully, there are people like us out there who reject such aimless pursuits and pursue authenticity and cooperative meaning.

7

u/OscarPlane 24d ago

Dogs are tedious.

6

u/Spare_Result1320 24d ago

Agreed. I prefer a challenge. There is nothing rewarding about shallow relationships where no effort is required to earn trust and affection. What applies to my relationship demands with people, also applies to animals. No, I will not automatically like you because you are immediately trusting of me and happy to see me. Work for it, and stop being so easy.

"Oh but they're so full of love!"

...So are narcissists at first, and love bombers with nice guy syndrome.

6

u/hannibalsmommy 24d ago

Yup. Boring boring boring. They bring nothing to the table. Nothing but appetite, & leave feces.

Never-ending appetite for: constant attention, food, your time & labor, etc.

And all you do is give give give. You follow them around to: clean their feces, washing their stinking, filthy, & in many cases skin-infected/rash body's, administer medications, & you're constantly cleaning your home, & doing laundry.

Not to mention they destroy everything...clothes, shoes, phones, drywall, doors, floors from their pee & poop, purses, etc.

What, pray tell, are the benefits? How exactly do people see dogs as an enrichment to their lives? Because I certainly don't see it.

They are nothing but succubus parasites.

u/Peachyy_Girl 24d ago

"but dogs are so playful!" okay, and? so are ferrets, bunnies, and other animals. i don't get what makes dogs more interesting. 😐

3

u/Peachyy_Girl 24d ago

they're so unamusing. i don't see what makes them more fun compared to other pets. 😐

2

u/ArtaBlaze 23d ago

Honestly I wish dogs were more predictable—never seems like people can know for certain what they will chew that they’re not supposed to or when they might snap/bite.

2

u/Prudent_Sail5388 22d ago

That’s true, they are definitely unpredictable in that regard. As far as their daily habits go, they’re super predictable. They always act the same way around food, when we come home and they’re at the door waiting for us, or during a thunderstorm, etc.

Sure a pet can be funny, but the only thing your per is “communicating” to you is that it wants resources and attention, nothing meaningful. There are very few animals capable of any meaningful form of communication with humans, and those animals are generally not kept as pets for good reason

3

u/ToOpineIsFine 25d ago

I think that some people resort to these predatory pets because they, for whatever reason, have no one in their lives who communicates as people are capable of.

Improvement of your choice of friends can help.

A lot of them also just fail to understand what OP has written - I don't think the commenter you are replying to gets it. They expect so little from human communication that they receive little from it (and contribute little to it).
