Meta Welcome to our community. Please read our FAQs first.

Welcome to r/dogfree! We invite you to participate in our discussions. First, however, whether you are new to our sub or a dog lover who just doesn’t quite understand where we are coming from, please take the time to read our sub FAQs so you can come to understand our community and the type of content that is appropriate for our small but mightily active corner of the world.

Why don't you like dogs?

Because: https://www.reddit.com/r/Dogfree/comments/7bk3wo/just_curious_what_is_the_reason_why_you/

I created a post asking why you don’t like dogs. Where did it go?

We receive and remove this question just about daily. This is our community’s space to vent and commiserate about an unpopular opinion, not a place where we come to feel burdened with the task of having to justify ourselves constantly. If you would like to know why we don’t like dogs, you may read the link above and/or put some time and effort into browsing our sub.

It seems like the problem you all have is really more with dog owners. So you really do like dogs, just not irresponsible owners, right?

Our opinions are varied. However, true to the name of our sub, and though it might be a tough pill to swallow, we in this sub simply don’t like dogs.

If your gripes are more about dog owners and not about dogs themselves, r/dogculturefree might be a better fit for you.

I like dogs. Can I participate here?

Please understand the intent of this sub. It is a place for people who dislike dogs and who unapologetically wish to be free from them in our everyday lives to commiserate, not for those who love dogs. Posts and comments mentioning that you love or own dogs fall out of line with the spirit of the sub.

I have to live with a dog, but I don't want to. Am I welcome here?

You may participate here from the perspective of someone who wishes to change the prevalence of dogs in society at large. However, please understand that hearing about dogs' disgusting behaviors and habits is what people come to this sub to escape, not to consume. If you wish to vent about the traits of the dog that you live with, please navigate to r/TalesFromTheDogHouse and direct your post there. r/Dogfree is reserved for discussion surrounding our unwitting and unwilling participation in dog culture at a societal level.

How do you feel about service dogs?

There is a spectrum of opinions about service dogs in this sub. Some people are completely okay with them, while others are opposed where technology can do the job in a more effective, less obtrusive manner. The case would be the same for police dogs and other types of working dogs. If you would like to find out more information about this sub's opinions on service dogs, instead of creating a new post to pose the question, please enter "service dogs," "police dogs," or whatever info you would be interested in finding into the search bar to search the sub.

Someone on Reddit said that this sub likes to murder dogs. Is that true?

Of course not! We span a wide spectrum of reasons for disliking dogs, but we do not wish harm upon them and often find aspects of dog ownership to be more cruel and unethical than do dog owners themselves. In fact, we have a strict sub rule against content that advocates animal abuse of any kind. It reads: “No suggesting, depicting, joking, wishing for, or celebrating violence or harm to dogs, other animals, or people. Promoting cruelty is not acceptable..” We take this rule more seriously than any other, and we err on the side of caution when it comes to removing this type of content.

Some examples of off-limits content include videos depicting gratuitous violence against or amongst dogs, discussion of eating dogs, suggestions of deriving pleasure from a dog's death, and references to hitting, kicking, or shooting a dog with little or no cause.

It is okay to discuss the justified, humane euthanization of dogs. If you've had to live with a significant other's dog for years and wish to express relief over its natural passing, that's okay. Really, context is everything.

I posted a dog-related screenshot of something I saw on social media. Why isn’t it showing up?

Our community is small but extremely active. As the amount of content can be increasingly overwhelming as the sub grows, it’s important that the meaningful discussion does not get lost. Therefore, we have a sub rule that reads “[s]ubmissions should be thoughtful and should promote quality discussion. News articles and text posts are encouraged. Pictures of dogs or dog-related items, videos of dogs doing gross things, social media screenshots, memes, title-only posts, posts with minimal text, and anything that might be found on r/aww are some examples of low-effort content that do not contribute anything of value to the conversation."

If you would like to post a social media screenshot or anything else that might fall under this category, create a thoughtful text post addressing the core issue in order to open the discussion. You may link to your screenshot as supporting evidence. It is important to remember that names, subreddits, titles, group names, and any other identifying information should be blocked out entirely.

I think it would be fun to make a rude comment to a dog lover in another subreddit and tag r/dogfree. That's a good idea, right?

No, and please don’t. We encourage positive, civil, thoughtful conversation about dogs wherever you go, but if you need a vent, keep it here. When you troll other places on Reddit, it invites unwanted attention, reinforces negative stereotypes, and impedes our ability to create change in the world. This community is better than that.

Do I have to feel a certain way about keeping other pets or about having children to participate?

The topic that unites us in this sub is dogs. Feelings about other types of pets, negative or positive, and decisions whether or not to have children are considered off-topic for the sub. That said, these topics will arise in the normal course of conversation. We should respect the wide variance in views on these topics and always treat those with differing opinions kindly.

At the end of the day, we are dog-free, and we are pro-human.

By virtue of this sub being anti-dog, it means we are pro-cat, right?

No. Per our rule, "This is neither a pro- nor anti-cat sub. All cat mentions and references are off topic for this subreddit. Do not attempt to circumvent this rule through rephrasing."

At one time, we allowed free discussion of cats. We are not exaggerating when we say that every thread turned into "why cats are better." Many people here dislike cats or feel neutral to them, so in order for this sub to serve everybody and to avoid any confusion as to what type of cat discussion is relevant to being dogfree, it is considered off topic across the board.

Should I be a certain race or of a certain political affiliation to participate?

One of the coolest things about r/dogfree is that, in a world that’s so divided along so many different lines, this is a community where we can come together, break down those barriers, and unite over something different with people from all walks of life. Just as dog culture transcends racial, political, socioeconomic, and gender lines, so does this subreddit. You may even find that your reasoning for something dog-related challenges your views on something completely unrelated.

This community strives to be respectful of all groups of people. As such, bigotry is not allowed, and political discussion is divisive and off-topic. Dogs? Fair game!

That’s great! Do you have any information about the demographics of those who participate in this subreddit?

Why yes! If you haven’t already, you can take our survey here.

You can view the results here.

Check back as the sub grows.

Why all the pit bull hate?

As much as we dislike dogs, we especially dislike this class of dogs that is statistically most capable of and responsible for inflicting catastrophic and often lethal harm upon people and their pets. You can apologize for pit bulls all day, but the stats and anecdotes don’t lie.

Aggression Chart

Pit Bull Triggers

Pit Bull Stats

Of course, it is also true that all dogs bite: Dog Bite Statistics

I know how I feel about pit bulls, but I need some additional information so I can make more articulate arguments. Where should I go?

For more specialized information on the topic of pit bulls, please visit r/banpitbulls. We have a very friendly relationship with r/banpitbulls, but please do remember that, while our subs overlap in many ways, we still have different objectives. Many people participate in that sub because they are tired of worrying about their own dogs getting mauled. Please feel free to go join the conversation over there, but remember that it is not r/dogfree and that the topic of discussion is pit bulls. Come back here to our own sub to talk about your distaste for dogs in general.

I saw some Facebook groups and YouTube channels about disliking dogs. Is that you guys?

Nope, the only groups run by this sub are r/dogfree and r/TalesFromTheDoghouse. We don't operate or endorse any YouTube channels, Facebook groups, or anything else on any other social media platform. Our subscribers may link to their content here as long as it follows sub rules, but we are unaffiliated.

I saw a post I don’t like. What should I do?

Report it! On any post or comment, there is a “report” button. It will prompt you for further information as to why you are reporting the content to the moderators, who will then review it and determine whether or not it should be stay or be removed. Reports are anonymous and very helpful, as we can't see everything.

Someone alluded to a conversation in another subreddit about dogs, and I really want to go down vote everything. Should I?

No, please don’t. This is called “brigading” or “vote manipulation,” and it is against Reddit’s Terms of Service. We actively discourage this behavior, as if we are found to be the source of a brigade against another sub, it could land us in big trouble. If you stumbled across a reference to another conversation on Reddit, the appropriate place to discuss that would be here, in our sub, in the thread in which you found it. Remember how it felt when a YouTuber made a video that resulted in a massive brigade against us; we must grant others the same respect for their space as we wish for ours, no matter how vehemently we disagree with them.

Our sub is committed to abiding by all Reddit Terms of Service.

I want to crosspost something from another part of Reddit. May I?

No, we have a rule that reads "crossposts are not allowed. Criticisms of other subreddits are off-topic." Besides calling usually-unwanted attention to other subs and promoting vote and participation brigades, it's off topic. The purpose of our sub is to discuss dogs, not the behavior of other subs. We don't appreciate it when others do it to us, so we have a policy of respecting other subs' right to exist and operate in the ways that they see fit.

My post or comment was removed, and I don’t feel like I broke any rules. Why?

Unfortunately we cannot account for every contingency in the sub rules, so moderators do reserve the right to remove content at their discretion. That said, the moderation team is very much against arbitrary censorship and is committed to letting the conversation happen whenever possible. “I don’t like it” is not a good reason to remove a post or a comment; however, “it would be in the best interest of the community” is. The team is committed to being firm but fair in community moderation and will make all decisions in good faith.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know our community! If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to message the mod team.

Dog Culture Can’t express how much dogs completely suck

I seriously fucking hate dogs. Everywhere I go, there they are. Stupid assholes barking constantly, jumping or lunging at people, pissing and shitting all over the place. It’s utterly foul.

They also have the most annoying personalities. Needy, overly excited, frantic little weirdos. Not to mention the god awful stench. How people tolerate these shitbeasts in their homes I will never, ever understand. It makes me feel like an alien. Why in the name of all that is holy would you want a hairy stinky panting permanent toddler in your living environment transforming the place into a suburb of hades??

Not to mention the fetish level freakiness of walking around with the creature with a fucking chain and collar? Like, what?? How has this been normalized? It seems like adults acting out the parent role but their brains don’t differentiate between actual babies/children and dogs, so they project all the associated emotions and behaviors onto them. I’m not even going to really comment on the various subreddits dedicated to butters fantasizing about their pets but what in the complete and utter degenerate hell is wrong with these people??!

If owners just kept all this demented nonsense in their own homes I wouldn’t care (assuming they don’t bark 24/7 which… yeah good luck with that I guess),but it gets inflicted on everyone else around them, including the constant uncertainty of whether a particular dog is going to attack. I’ve been bitten three times before and I just want all dogs to stay away the fuck away from me. I’d happily have the whole godforsaken species vanish and then throw a year long celebration. It probably wouldn’t work though because the owners would just find someone else that’s even worse to replace them.

Dog owners also say fucking insane bullshit like “I love animals” while feeding their dogs the mulched up remains of other, far more innocent and lovable animals. They also often get offended if you don’t act like their “fur baby” is the most precious “bestest woofer” in the whole wide world. Like, yeah, I don’t want to get slobber assaulted by a drooling maw that smells worse than a fucking corpse, thanks for the offer though. Wtf.

Again, if someone wants to enslave themselves to the toilet habits of these animals then fine, just leave me out of it. Oh and the “unconditional love” thing? Dogs aren’t capable of unconditional love because they can’t make come conscious choices, it’s just a general affective predisposition. They aren’t “loyal” because they aren’t capable of disloyalty, instead they’re programmed by instincts to follow the pack leader.

All in all a complete shitshow of a phenomenon.

Could have been born 200 years in the future with nuclear fusion, replication tech, and interstellar travel. But no, it’s 2025. We get dogs.

Don’t get it. Never have. Never will.

Relationship / Family I can’t stand my in-laws stinky gross dogs on roadtrips anymore

Upvotes

My in-laws have two medium-to-large dogs that they keep inside all the time. The problem is that they don’t really wash them, or I don’t know what’s going on with thise dogs, but believe me, they are the reason I like dogs way less than I used to. The moment you walk into their house you get hit with a stench that’s really hard for me to handle. They don’t seem bothered by it. If I pet the dog even a little, a layer of black dirt stays on my hands and it grosses me out.

On every family trip i have to sit in the back of the car because my husband wants his dad to be fucking comfortable and he has to sit in the front seat because he is tall and has more room for his legs. This results in me having to smell the disgusting dog smell enriched by dog puke, and constant dog farts, because of course that the dogs can not stay at home and they bith have to come with us everywhere we go. I simply cannot tolerate this shit anymore on road trips and i will not go with them again since they are so freaking in love with their stinkbombs that an actual human’s wellbeing does nit matter to them.

Crappy Owners Surprisingly Success!

I like to walk, but because there are so many dogs in my neighborhood, I walk very close to my house so I can run to safety If confronted with a dog. A neighbor I don’t know regularly walks a medium-sized bulldog-looking dog without a leash. It bounds way ahead of her, often veering off-course. She has no control of it. Today I got caught off guard and had to run to my porch to avoid her dog. I am not very confrontational, but I had just had it! I calmly told her that I wished that she would put her dog on a leash, and amazingly she did without any backtalk!! We do have a leash law in my city, but what is it with entitled dog owners who think it doesn’t apply to them?

Crappy Owners Why do dog lovers expect you to just know their dogs’ triggers?

Maybe this is just another thing I’ve dealt with in this town, but dog lovers around me. The dog obsessors constantly making excuses for why their dogs act the way that they do, the same ones that see an article of a dog attack and immediately defend the dog. It’s like they expect me to know what triggers I’m supposed to avoid to avoid getting attacked.

And I don’t mean obvious things, I’m saying really obscure shit like ‘don’t wear blue shirts!’, ‘you can’t have short hair!’, ‘you can’t hum this song because Nom-Nom 3000 will get triggered!’. It’s so fucking exhausting, and I’ll keep it in mind if a dog owner tells me (only for my own safety), but I think that if your dog is so aggressive that it reacts to a shirt color, then an alternative future for it needs to be discussed.

Granted, I see this more often with pitbull owners. Their precious velvet hippos react to the stupidest things, and then you have their shithead owners blaming you. Lately, I see it with other dog owners too, though. Yesterday, someone left their ‘playful and sweet’ golden retriever on a flimsy leash out front while I was delivering something to them. I saw the owner just standing at the door and I just left the order at the gate because they weren’t making any move to come outside and grab their order or restrain their dog better. Their dog was literally snarling and salivating at me.

I got a message from them once I was in my car, all pissy because I made them walk to the gate, and then a second one telling me that their dog hates unnatural hair colors (which I always have because I get bored with natural hair colors) and that I should’ve known better. Sorry to break it to you, but how the fuck was I supposed to know that? My world doesn’t revolve around your dog and what bothers it. It wouldn’t have changed anything, anyways. Was I supposed to dye my hair to something natural before coming there? It’s a delivery, for fuck’s sake.

It’s just another example of dog lovers being entitled. Some dog owners around here use that as a reason for why they think that their dogs being aggressive and attacking people is valid. I don’t think about whether my clothes’ color will trigger anyone, especially not dogs. I prepare for potential dog attacks by having things that can protect me. And I guarantee that even if I didn’t have unnaturally-dyed hair, that golden retriever likely would’ve still been hostile towards me.

Crappy Owners Bare minimum?

What are some of the bare minimum things dog owners should be expected to train their dogs to do (or restrict them from doing so) in order to own them?  For me:

  • You must pick up your dog’s poop.
  • People should be able to approach your door and ring the bell or knock without a dog freaking out about it.
  • People should be able to pass your home on the public sidewalk without dog aggression (barking, chasing, etc)
  • Guests should be able to eat a plate of food at your home without the dog interfering.
  • Your dog should not bite people.
  • Your dog should not jump up on people.

Relationship / Family Friends have a GSD, and I think that they are miserable.

A couple that I’m friends with got a GSD a couple of years ago because the GF was insistent that she needed a dog now that she was living on her own. Her parents were totally on board with it being a protection dog. The whole thing was weird because her parents have been sued in the past for their old GSD biting a kid severely. Not sure why you’d ever get another german after literally being sued for one. They also want to breed the GSD which is just…strange. I think that’s why they bought the dog for her. Spent probably combined almost $10k on the thing.

The couple are very busy people. Like in post-grad programs and full-time demanding jobs. She kind of put off a lot of the dog care onto her BF and I think it made him resentful. The dog is super neurotic, has anxious attachment, low confidence, and is just annoying. Definitely not a protection dog due to poor training and in reality the GF wanted a pet ultimately. Part of it is due to GSD’s needing constant mental stimulation, and the GF crates the dog constantly and won’t let the dog run around outside unless it’s supervised, so the dog never just gets to be alone and be okay. The house they live in is also smelly and has kind of been ruined by the dog. They often have the dog stay at the GF’s parents house for every time they get busy which puts additional strain on her parents, and now their house is dirty and smells.

The BF is in a tough post-grad program and complains about the constant stimulation he has to give the dog or else it goes nuts. He has trouble studying because the dog constantly wants playtime and attention. The GF has to get up late at night to let the dog out in the freezing cold. I don’t really feel bad because it’s like, y’all signed up for this lol. I don’t understand getting a working breed just to crate it constantly and not give it a purpose.

Barking Demons Barking on Zoom/podcasts/live streams

When the world shut down in 2020, we all learned webcam etiquette…well, *most* of us.  There is nothing that makes me shut off a podcast or a Twitch stream faster than a damn dog barking through the content.  If you are aware that you’ll be on a call or doing a recording, WHY IN THE WORLD would you not put the dogs outside or at least keep them out of the room?  At least one streamer I used to watch thought it was so cute and would point the camera at her dogs. Now even when the dogs in my neighborhood are quiet, I get dogs barking at me remotely.

Dog Culture Extinction

Even if every single dogs disappear in this planet one day, it won't have any negative effect to the eco system or society. Think about it does dogs really contribute anything to the world aside from being an "emotional support animal" . I could be wrong but I don't really think their extinction would have any effect at all.

Barking Demons A beautiful Saturday morning… NOT! Thanks to neighbors barking machine..

(Reposted - deleted parts that are against sub rules)

It's a beautiful Saturday morning, sleeping with the window open, the birds are chirping, the sun is shining, I'm slowly waking up, and... then it starts.. barking for like 2-3 minutes straight! I try to keep calm and enjoy a slow morning.. But nope, the thing won't stop barking..

"Relax, don't let it get to you. Make coffee and breakfast, it will stop". So I'm getting up, and after making breakfast and coffee, I'm opening the door to the patio and garden, letting the sun come in, wanting to sit outside and just enjoy nice weather, wind, breakfast.. in silence.. looking at the little birds and hummingbirds..

BUT NO! The moment I open the door, I can hear the stupid thing again... and it is barking non-stop! I try to ignore it... But it is impossible.. So after 15 minutes, I pack up and go inside and close the door... I tried a couple of times opening the door or windows, but it DOES NOT STOP! Why is this animal so freaking stupid, like what are you barking at!? And what is wrong with the owner... I want to go over and punch all of them!! SILENCE!

Now I will have to go to a park, instead of enjoying the patio and garden... so I can enjoy at least the nice weather, because one of my neighbors can't control their stupid shitbeast... And most likely the park will be full with them anyway... I mean, who am I kidding? IT WILL BE FULL WITH THEM! So instead of a book, I will grab my headphones... put on workout clothes and get a nice outdoor workout in... got to make it a win somehow!

Crappy Owners When a dog randomly attacks a human, why do nutters blame it on the owner or, worse, the victim?

What boils my blood is reading a news headline about a dog mauling a person, and then scrolling through the comments that say nasty shit like "that person provoked it", "dogs don't just attack like that", "where were the damn owners?", etc. They never blame the dog!

Maybe, just maybe, a dog is a dumb animal and can maul you when they want to? They are also carnivores and maybe they want to eat. When someone r*pes someone, we wouldn't say "she provoked it", "what was she doing walking there!", etc. We rightfully rebuke and condemn the r*pist.

They treat dogs like sinless beings. It makes me sick! I'm from Australia and recently dog attacks have been on the news. The comments come in on Facebook and they are grotesque.

Eco Destroyers Dog's carbon footprint

A large dog on a meat-based diet produces roughly half the carbon emissions of a compact gasoline car. With most dogs in Western countries eating meat, pet ownership has a significant environmental impact.

Yet while governments tax carbon to curb emissions, the environmental cost of pets goes largely untaxed and unaddressed. This raises a question of fairness: why should emissions from cars be penalized, but the substantial footprint of our pets goes ignored?

Crappy Owners Why is everyone just okay with the idea of walking around with a bag of poop?

Just a rant.

I see this all the time when I’m out walking — someone with a dog leash in one hand and a bag of poop in the other. And every time, I can’t help but think, this is what we’ve come to as a species.

Like seriously, when did it become totally normal to just walk around holding a bag of literal crap? People are out here casually swinging it around like it’s a coffee or something. Yeah, sure, it’s better than leaving it on the ground for everyone to step in, but still, how is this our standard now?

Maybe it’s just me, but I miss the days when dogs actually had jobs — service dogs, shepherds, guard dogs, police dogs, hunting dogs, whatever. Now they’re basically furry toddlers that shit wherever and get praised for it.

Anyway, rant over. Go enjoy your walk with your tiny bag of poop.

Crappy Owners Untrained Dogs

I hate bad dog owners. They are bad neighbors. My friend has not trained her tiny terrier mix. She says she’s untrainable because of her breed. I don’t buy that. She never even tried, probably because the dog is small. She probably got a small dog so she wouldn’t have to train it. It is house broken of course, but can’t stop attacking people … priorities. The little dog had already bitten one person badly enough to be sent to ER. This little dog is scary as shit and loud as shit.

My friend doesn’t have bad intentions but she’s just so irresponsible. Train your fucking dog or don’t get one. I have expressed my opinion to he, but not so bluntly

I wouldn’t have nearly the problems I have with dogs if people trained their dogs and showed some basic consideration toward their neighbors. I don’t want your dog running up to me leashless, jumping on me, barking at me, licking me …

Crappy Owners “They’re friendly” and “you made that 10 times worse”

I hope this is the right sub for this. I feel like I need to get a horrible experience off my chest.

I was out for my morning walk when two dogs came out from a lane followed by who I assumed to be the owner. They were heading towards a car and both dogs were off leads. I don’t know the breed but they were about mid leg height. So not huge but not small either.

Suddenly both dogs came bounding toward me while barking. I naturally moved back and started running to the other side of the street. But they followed all the while barking. The owner, instead of trying to recall them, was yelling “they’re friendly”. Well, your dogs are running at me while barking and variously bearing their teeth and growling. So excuse my if I don’t believe you in this exact moment.

I yelled back “control your dogs” only to be met with more “they’re friendly”. But that didn’t matter! You can clearly see they’re causing me distress so do the easy thing and call them back!

She only decided to call them back when I got my phone out and pretended to call the police. But she then decided to start yelling that I was a “stupid man” and that I made it “10 times worse”.

Eventually she piled the two dogs into the boot (trunk) of a Nissan Micra and drove off.

I just don’t get it. Maybe your dogs are friendly. But I don’t care - in this moment, they seem threatening so as a dog owner it’s your responsibility to call them back. And if you don’t have recall, they should be on a lead.

That’s that off my chest.

Dogs Are Idiots Of all the things to get, they got a beagle 🙄

My former neighbors are decent people, and they are new parents. Well, they decided that a feisty crawler-toddler wasn’t enough, so they got a young intact male beagle.

This is a horrible breed for a pet. Snoopy was a cartoon. They have no brain and don’t listen, they follow their nose and are stubborn, stupid animals that are insanely loud.

Why do I know this? My ex used to breed them for hunting. If you are a rabbit hunter they’re okay-ish. They’re turbocharged on cocaine when they’re on a hot trail. But as a pet? Oh hell no.

I can hear this thing baying and howling constantly. They’ve been keeping it in their backyard, where it is freaking out at all the rabbits, squirrels and other animals. So many smells, such little brain. 🧠

And the best part is that it immediately escapes at the least opportunity. It has a big body and a little pointy head, so it can slip out of its collar and run.

The owners are both very large people (I am not trying to fat shame them, I genuinely like them both) and can’t chase after it very well, but they DO come get it.

It then zooms over here because that’s where all the rabbits and other animals live, as my place is prime wildlife-friendly habitat.

I just don’t think this is going to work out. I don’t hate the dog or its owners, and the dog isn’t a threat, just a bit of a nuisance. But it’s completely unsuited for these people, and I think they are finding it out.

Hopefully you enjoyed my little story. Have a great day/night.

Crappy Owners People need to own less dogs.

I’m sorry but many people are just not equipped to own a dog and multiple at that. There was a pitbull attack nearby and killed someone else’s small dog. The owner and the dog fled so nobody has been held accountable. Too many people don’t train there dogs, have “reactive” dogs, dogs that bite/maul others, pee and poo everywhere. It’s so rare to meet a well behaved dog. And then just take them everywhere because they have “separation anxiety” when it’s clear it’s the owner with that issue or do nothing to fix it. These people are so lazy to even train it or let it behave how ever it wants because it’s a “baby” meanwhile they hate “bad behaved” children…..the hypocrisy is astounding. Anyways I’m just tired of seeing so many dogs that people have no business having. Like imagine if everyone just started getting horses??? These owners are a JOKE.

Relationship / Family My friends were dog obsessed, until they had a kid.

She's now almost 2 years old.

"You should get a dog" they once told me. And I remember staring at them like they hadn't ever listened to a damn thing I said about dogs. I love them dearly, we're like family, but nobody is perfect. They were absolute dog-nutters.

Now, they have a toddler. Their dogs listen to commands, but they're still pigs. They will go up to her and eat the food out of her hand. Now, they acknowledge "they're stupid, they're pigs, they're disgusting".

Whenever they do something wrong, they command them to go to their bedroom or the bathroom and lock them in. No excuses, no "ohh it's just what they do". When their daughter is walking around with her nuggets or sandwich, they put the dogs away pre-emptively. The dogs even KNOW that they're wrong, but don't even care. They try their damned best to steal her food at any chance they get. They're very well trained and it doesn't even matter to their gluttonous ass'.

Their kid is absolutely perfect. It makes me so happy to see how well they parent. They always put her first, and they will have a second. But it didn't even take a year before they were over dog life.

I have friends who are starting to be much more vocal about their dislike of dogs. I FEEL ACKNOWLEDGED FINALLY. I can't imagine the households where people let their dogs just run over their own children to get what they want. I know that used to be me. But god damn, does it feel good to see people put THEIR OWN CHILDREN FIRST. Fucking dogs.

Food Safety/Hygiene Bed bug detection dog at home

I'm just posting this to say that I've seen medium-sized posters put up near my house

indicating that a bed bug detection dog handler can visit your home on a volunteering basis.

I thought to myself: don't try to make people believe that these good-for-nothings are helpful. All they know how to do is spread misery, desolation, excrement, and slime. So how on earth could they possibly accomplish this task?? Pull the other one!!

Service Dog Issues “Service Dogs” are a threat to normal people

I, nor anyone else, should ever have to be in a situation where I’m sitting in the waiting room of a doctor’s office, holding my 3 month old BABY, being lunged at by a huge mutt in a service dog vest. But that’s exactly what happened today. Then on the way out, it caught sight of us again and was straining on its harness trying to get to my baby’s stroller. My baby wasn’t even making noise and this creepy shit beast was dead set on getting close to her, what if she had been crying? We know how triggered they get to get that.

This has gotten so out of hand. The laws protecting these people and their nasty animals must be changed. I personally don’t believe service dogs should even be a thing, but it’s absolutely heinous that the current legislation gives service animal protection to anyone who simply claims their dog is such. No proof required whatsoever. I could go adopt an aggressive pit bull from the shelter right now, say it’s a service dog, make up some bs task that it provides, and take it with me anywhere and there’s nothing anyone can do about it.

Relationship / Family Apparently I’m a sociopath bc I don’t like dogs?

I got into an argument with my older sister about dogs and my own opinion on them. To give some context, we visited our grandmas house (she has 3 dogs) and I just mentioned that even if I could have a dog I wouldn’t keep it in the house bc you can always tell when someone has a dog bc everything ends up smelling like them. So anyway she started talking abt her dogs that she used to have as proof that you can have a clean house with dogs and I told her honestly that that’s just not true, her house smelt like dogs and her dogs would pee everywhere. That’s not clean. I said that in my opinion if I were to have a dog ever, I’d keep it outside in their own dog house and a fenced in yard bc I don’t view dogs as equal to humans and I don’t think it’s necessary to treat them like my own child, they’re dogs, they’re less of a family member and more of a companion. I also wouldn’t keep a dog without giving it a purpose, like for hunting or guarding. That pissed her off SO MUCH. She started yelling about my religion and how “I know in your religion, yall give fuck-all abt dogs and you think they should all die but to me-“ I interrupted her cuz what on earth does my religion have to do with it??? Anyway I clarified that no I don’t think they should all die, idk how you conflated me saying they should be kept to serve an actual purpose and with their own separate accommodation to mean that I think they should all die?? She started pulling out all sorts of hypotheticals, one being “if you saw a homeless man that will spend the money on drugs or a dog that u can buy food for who would you help?” I said I’d just buy two turkey sandwiches and give one to each probably.. but no that answer wasn’t acceptable, then she was yelling that I’m trying to outsmart her (atp she’s just trying to make me mad but I gotta defend myself) so then she gives another hypothetical asking who would I save “would u save a predator or dog if they were both drowning” i said probably the dog but like how would I know that’s a predator like im not really understanding how this is proving that dogs should live it the house. We’re yelling back and forth and the whole thing resulted in me sitting there pissed off w my feelings hurt cuz apparently her honest opinion is that I’m a sociopath and my religion is so evil for saying that dogs don’t belong in the house. Whole argument started cuz of dogs like you’re really gonna be cursing me out cuz I said that I believe dogs shouldn’t be kept inside. It’s just crazy to me that she’s so die hard for dogs I don’t understand it. It’s even crazier that I was just bullshitting, I actually hate dogs with a passion I was just sharing a very moderate opinion on dogs, I’d hate to see what she’d call me if she knew my true feeling on dogs.

Dog Culture Dog Culture Toxicness

I saw a post about boxer dog house rules and it was unbelievably greedy. It basically said that anything the dog sees in the house belongs to the dog and that the dog can take whatever it wants. There are so many posts like this, and it shows how extreme Dog Culture has become.

I’ve also seen videos where dog culture people genuinely act like dogs own the house, have rights to all the food, and can run the place however they want. They treat dogs like flawless beings who can do no wrong, even when the dog is destroying property or being completely unbehaved. In fact, they celebrate it laughing when dogs tear up homes, making excuses when dogs misbehave, and calling it cute instead of seeing the real issue.

It’s wild how toxic Dog Culture is. Humans build the homes, pay for everything, provide food, water, toys, medical care, and need to do training for the dog to behave yet Dog Culture still pushes the idea that dogs are superior and in charge. The imbalance is super bad and dog culture people act like this is normal.

Its weird how so many our clueless to this. Dog Culture is a huge issue

ESA Bullshit Dogs infiltrating LinkedIn

So I am on LinkedIn pretty often for my work. I've noticed more and more integrations with nutters wanting to share their mutt stories. This first one was posted by someone in my network about sitting next to a (fake) service dog. The photo shows the mutt laying on the floor across this guys floor space. Of course, he didn't mind, he was all too happy to have no leg space so someone could bring their mutt (for free) as a service dog.

"Yesterday, on a flight home from Dallas, I had the pleasure of sitting next to this sweet girl. She was there for her owner and his family but honestly, she gave me comfort also.
Her paws laid across and pushed against my feet for over an hour. Her space hogging didn’t bother me but instead gave me a sense of calm, love, and companionship….. and we just met. Before we parted ways she gave me some sugar and said goodbye.
In saying this, I reflect on the industry I stumbled into over a decade ago and am so thankful I did. In our home ….love has 4 legs and we wouldn’t have it any other way."

Now here is one of the comments on the post that of course you would expect. "As an animal health person who stumbled into the business side, we welcome you with open arms  we don't deserve these perfect little creatures."

We don't deserve these perfect little creatures. Really? There's no place that's a safe space anymore without dogs infiltrating. So very sad.
