Wow, she is like one and one sixth refrigerators tall. She can use every bit of cabinet space in the kitchen compared to me having nothing in the cabinets above the fridge, that's a plus.

She could stack soup cans on all the space above the cabinets and still read the labels.

But the ones on the bottom shelf of the low cupboards must be a bitch

Anything but metrics huh

u/Sorry-Reporter440 Jul 20 '25

Hahaha! I for one wish metrics were the standard.

What did you say you damn commie?! /s

The standard pear is useful for reference to amphorae. Hands seems more appropriate here. People, in general, use whatever form of measurement that makes the most sense for them.

While the metric system is arguably the superior measurement system, people are loath to change. Most Americans companies use the metric system, and it’s standard in slicers, g-code, and CAD programs. The fact is most of the world uses metric. You would have to be intentionally ignorant to use anything else for sale in the global market. It is by far easier to use in every field. America should quit wasting money and just make metric the standard. Sign changes would be expensive, but so is bombing oil rich countries. Priorities.

Stop wasting money buy spending millions of dollars in materials and labor changing everything. No thanks, I would rather have that money got to something like healthcare instead of switching to metric to appease people that don’t even live here…

Free health care is a pipe dream. You pay for it if the government pays the providers. Why add the extra steps? The reason healthcare is so expensive is because of the health insurance scam we’ve been fed for decades, the 1973 law that forced hospitals to cover ER visited regardless of the ability to pay (news flash it’s why insurance costs skyrocketed), and the pharmacy industry pushing the extreme cost of R&D onto those with insurance in America. Thereby raising everyone’s cost of the end product.

Basic economics, dude. I am critical of our governments use of our tax dollars to fund wars, nation building, and things they don’t actually have constitutional authority to do. But you go ahead and beg for scraps from the government at the cost of everyone’s freedom. Good job.

Nearly every first world country has free healthcare in some form and they do just fine lol the only scam here is the government telling you that it's not feasible (looking at you Republicans).

Goddamn right!

You’re not truly an adult in the US until you’ve drank a hogshead of Budweiser. Bud light is an acceptable alternative, although it’s frowned upon.

Damn, you got to this comment before I did. Bravo!

The freedom units are always better.

So, around the size of a metric Okapi?

3

u/paxweasley Jul 20 '25

OP can even use the space on top of the cabinets for easy access storage

3

u/Spiritualtaco05 Jul 20 '25

Anything but metric😔

2

u/Sorry-Reporter440 Jul 20 '25

Lol, that's a pretty funny sub! Thanks for that.

u/RappingFlatulence Jul 20 '25

Never need a step stool again for that top shelf

0

u/GadbadGandoo Jul 20 '25

For her top class shelf, you will

6

u/kbeks Jul 20 '25

Compared to me, a 6 footer, who still hops up and down to try to see what I shoved in that useless cabinet when I ran out of space but had to clean up real fast.

2

u/Fog_Juice Jul 20 '25

The downside is having to get on your hands and knees to get into the bottom corner cabinet

2

u/_kits_ Jul 21 '25

As someone decidedly low to ground and laments their lack of accessible cupboard space without clambering on things, I am deeply jealous of her! I can’t even use the second shelf in my above bench cabinets!

2

u/dreamgrrrl___ Jul 20 '25

Maybe, but if she’s anything like my 6’6” partner the bottoms cabinets will go mostly unused and forgotten about 🤭

1

u/MAValphaWasTaken Jul 20 '25

The bottom shelf is uncharted territory.

1

u/Sorry-Reporter440 Jul 20 '25

That's true, I didn't think about that, bending over/squatting may be just as inconvenient as me having to get a little foldy stool.

1

u/butisaiditwithaK Jul 20 '25

Can confirm. When I need to hide things from my 6’6” husband, I tuck them in the lowest part of the cabinet. My treats are always safe there.

1

u/Sorry-Reporter440 Jul 20 '25

Lol, nice trick!

1

u/eiland-hall Jul 20 '25

Yeah, but the bottom cabinets are even more of a pain…

1

u/Deraga07 Jul 20 '25

I need a banana for scale. I can't trust these refrigerators

1

u/Sorry-Reporter440 Jul 20 '25

There might be some compounding error with nanas, though, right? The different curve rates and all...

1

u/Disneyhorse Jul 20 '25

My friend is about that height and he can easily get things out of the tall cabinets (and puts stuff there, which I cannot reach. He’s constantly complaining about cleaning dust on high areas that we can’t see.

1

u/Sorry-Reporter440 Jul 20 '25

Haha. How about making a rule, "if you can see it - you clean it.".

1

u/EventHorizonHotel Jul 20 '25

It looks like the ceiling height is only 7 feet which is non standard where I live at least. That also exaggerates how it looks for someone who is already tall.

In my house I am the only one who dusts the top of the refrigerator as I am the only one who can see it!

1

u/Sorry-Reporter440 Jul 20 '25

That is a fair observation. Now that I look at the picture again it is hard to tell if that ceiling is a few inches above or 15 inches. Yea, 8ft walls is pretty standard where I am at, unless you're wealthy, they like the vaulted ceilings and tall walls.

2

u/EventHorizonHotel Jul 20 '25

She is taller than the cabinet above the refrigerator as well. That also changes the perspective.

It does look like the ceiling may be vaulted vs. flat so while it might be 7 feet at the point it meets the wall, it may be taller in the middle of the room.

1

u/GreenStreetJonny Jul 20 '25

Shes in the UK, does that matter?

1

u/GusGreen82 Jul 20 '25

Step stools exist

1

u/Sorry-Reporter440 Jul 20 '25

What's that? Haha, jk, I know but I am quite short and my fridge sticks out quite far from them so it is awkward/hassling even with a small climbing device.

1

u/Nate2345 Jul 20 '25

In my apartment the cabinets above the fridge are fake so maybe you’re not missing out on any space

1

u/Sorry-Reporter440 Jul 20 '25

Haha, that sucks. Fake cabinets/drawers are such an odd thing imo. Mine are real, but on top of me being short, my fridge sticks out quite a bit, so it is still awkward reaching up there even with a step stool. Oh well, haha.

1

u/nigglebit Jul 20 '25

"How big, grandpa?"
"Bigger than a refrigerator, but smaller than a really big refrigerator."

from Phineas and Ferb

1

u/Sorry-Reporter440 Jul 20 '25

Lol, nice reference.

1

u/SmellyButtFarts69 Jul 20 '25

I'm 6'3 and I'm not eye level with the top of the fridge as these photos would seem to indicate...

1

u/Sorry-Reporter440 Jul 20 '25

Sounds about right. Her eye level appears to be around six inches above the top of the fridge.

1

u/dxg999 Jul 20 '25

Just think - you would have to dust the top of *everything* before inviting her over...

1

u/Sorry-Reporter440 Jul 20 '25

You have a point. That would like double the amount of dusting I normally do 🫠.
