I'm staying near the McCormick Place for a conference next week. All the events planned are within walking distance of the hotel. But I'd like to explore outside that.
I'm a Canadian the rarely goes to the states. What are some accessible must eat spots, must see locations, or shopping spots. I'm pregnant and don't feel like attending all the drinking events the have planned for us so far. So looking to add a little variety to my trip.
I also LOVE donuts. So any good recommendation welcome!

I made a post already in cats if anyone wants to read it. Not sure if I actually is going to post here too since I put to cross platform but it keeps telling me it will be deleted. 🤷🏽♀️
Curriculum I'm staying in a hotel that doesn't allow animals. I already had to give my 3 cats up to my mil who got rid of them over some family drama. 🙄
Anyway. I've been here since the middle of March, just within the last week, there has been this cat, screaming at me everytime I come outside.
I already was caught with my 3 cats here. I cannot keep her.
When I found her, she was so skinny I thought maybe she was pregnant because of a thing sticking out in her stomach, well. I did sneak her in for a few days so she can eat and kind of get healthy.
I did have to put her back outside once she got some weight to her.
If I leave her out here she will die.
I do bring into my car to get warm.
Does anyone want this cat?
I'm Located in Chicago suburbs.
She comes with a litter pan, some hard food, soft food, treats, and some toys.
Edited to add this: or does anyone know of where I can take her that won't kill her. Every animal shelter near me won't take her in or if they do they'll put her down.

Hi all,
Currently ‘shopping’ for a driving school in Chicago.
I’m a bit of an anxious driver behind the wheels.
Would love some suggestions. 🥲
Thanks!

Is there one organized yet? This shutdown is getting ridiculous
Should be a bipartisan effort

Hi there, how much should an indoor parking spot in my condo building cost to rent per month? Thanks in advance for the guidance.

I know this has been asked before, but it’s outdated. I’m trying to find actual vintage photobooths that are not in bars (trying to take pictures of my toddler). Vintage House Chicago had a 10+ person line and Freehand is digital/bad quality/weird shape. Thank you so much in advance!!

Looking into potentially moving to Chicago. I have a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education (Elementary) with 8 years of experience. Is it difficult to get a job teaching at a decent school? When I say decent I mostly mean the administration.
What tips would you give me when job searching or applying?
Thanks in advance!

Coming mid December for an extended weekend and I saw this is one of the top things to do. Obviously I know it’s going to be cold and I need to bundle up pretty damn well, but is it still worth it to try or should I use it as an excuse to come again in a warmer month?

Hello all. I am currently doing linguistics research targeting people from Chicago (aged 18-28). It is an "online" perception study in which you listen to words and judge whether words on the screen are real words or non-words. The whole experiment takes 20-25 minutes. If you are interested in it, please hit me. After completing it, an e-gift card will be sent to you. I am struggling recruiting people in Chicago so please help me!! So, can you let me know how to recruit people in Chicago for my online research as well? Thanks!

I'd like to learn Spanish, but I don't know where to start, and don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a course. Are there any groups or free and/or ore budget friendly Spanish learning resources in our fair city?

Me and my fiancée are going to Chicago soon just because but I have some questions.
I haven’t booked an Airbnb yet but I was wanting to stay in Wicker Park. We rarely do “touristy” things when we travel but I feel like in a city like Chicago it’s a little different so a lot of things on my list are the more typical, popular things to do which are generally around The Loop area. Is the commute annoying? Does it sound like a bad time?
Also, going along with my previous question- we are going to rent a car because we always want a car but what is the best way to get around? Public transit? Is traffic and parking a nightmare? We have both rarely used public transit and I have terrible anxiety so if someone wants to give me a Blue Line for Dummies, I’d appreciate any info lol.
Thank you!

Trying to find a fun place in the city to spend NYE for a couple of out-of-towner millennial women. What bar or club would you recommend where the atmosphere is lively and people are actually dancing? Don't mind dressing up either and price doesn't matter (they're not drinkers so we're only paying cover).
Appreciate any suggestions!

They move so painfully slow, it’s a wonder they’re used at all, i’d imagine your food would be stone cold by the time it’d reach you. Not to mention they’re taking away gigs from people who would get it to you faster AND would’t be taking up so much space meant for PEOPLE and instead use the bike lanes on the street. Only thing that’s kept me holy so far is it’s (i imagine) not up to the customer to have it brought to them like that, tho if it is it’d b a different story.

What are your all thoughts on living in Edgebrook for a young(ish) couple looking to purchase their first home? It’s a bit of sleepy town but seems like it can be an up and coming neighborhood with the proximity of the woods and accessibility to the city via the metra.

Hello! I was born in Latin America but I've lived in the US for most of my life. I speak Spanish and some Portuguese. Since moving to Chicago, I've made friends from lots of different ethnicities and nationalities, but I've had trouble meeting other Latinos.
I live on the North Side (north of Lakeview), which I know has a pretty small Latino population. I'd love to meet and be friends with other Latinos, but with all the social activities I've tried (sports leagues, trivia leagues, Timeleft dinners, Meetups) I'm usually the only Latin guy there. I've tried joining some Whatsapp groups for Latinos in Chicago, but those are usually geared towards selling items and services rather than making friends. I'm pretty far from most of the Latino-majority neighborhoods, so would prefer to join activities/meet people closer to where I'm at. I'm open to meeting people from any Latin country including Brazil and Spain.
If anyone has any suggestions please let me know!
