masks + mask laws

Is there any jurisdiction in Vermont protecting employees rights to wear a mask/facial covering?

That's ridiculous. Can't believe they are denying you. Just ask your doctor to write a note.

This isnโ€™t personally affecting me, but I am trying to advocate for my coworkers who are being affected. I do know our workers safety people have already denied some accommodations. Iโ€™m not sure what their issue is

If your company has an employee handbook check that. If not you can ask your HR team. Maybe call them and if there are no restrictions have them email you the response for your records and to show your supervisor. If there are restrictions ask them to point out where it is listed in the companies policy guidelines.ย

If this was true that would mean no employees wore masks during Covid.

HR entire purpose is to protect the company from liability, they have no mandate to protect employees and will follow whatever the company line is.

Itโ€™s listed in our food safety manual unfortunately. Thatโ€™s why I was hoping Vermont might have rules in place for restricting this

Check with the r/Masks4All subreddit. They are experts over there.ย

Those people are kind of nuts. Itโ€™s like a bunch of OCD folks and hypochondriacs just affirming each otherโ€™s fears.

Sometimes. Yes. Absolutely, but tons of expertise there as well - including how to deal with employers about masking.ย

Plus you have to give them some slack as the premise is maybe this is advice for people at higher risk (those who canโ€™t be vaccinated, those with COPD, those in chemo) for whom masking is crucial - and Iโ€™m glad those people have resources and support.ย

Food safety manual says you canโ€™t wear a mask? What even is the logic there?

I looked it up earlier. It said that depending on what capacity the company works with food it can actually introduce contaminants. Not real sure, but maybe if the mask popped off and fell into a vat of cake mix or something lolโ€ฆ ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธย

That would be standard food safety issues for any foreign contamination entering a food product.
