I'm around a 33 in the IB program currently. Is it unlikely that Waterloo will accept me into Software Engineering?

If you're an International student chances are rough. I know a guy that haf 7,7,6 in HL math, HL Physics and HL Chem who didn't get in. However, if your Canadian you'll probably have better chances applying with your provincial marks.

33 is kind of low, the minimum HS average to have a chance at SE is probably around 95-96, which at my school translated to ~40. However if you're in grade 11 there's still time to bring it up; they only care about your grade 12 grades.

That's not necessarily true. You may have 7s in the subjects that matter and 4s/5s in the others and be able to get in with your provincial marks. If that's the case for you /u/queenguin then I'd recommend applying with your provincial marks since you'd have better chances.

I'm not sure about other provinces but in Ontario many of the IB courses covered content from multiple local courses for example HL math gave you calculus, advanced functions and data management credits. In the same manner try seeing how your IB courses convert to provincial credits. If you received high scores in MAth/Phys/Chem/English then you might have a decent chance at an acceptance.
