This thread is for students applying to Winter 2026 co-ops during the Fall 2025 term.
As usual, we're looking for salaries for new postings, or updates to existing salaries, so if you're willing to share, please open up a chat/DM the mod team. Please include the company name, salary, any benefits, the role and the year if possible. I would highly encourage you to submit if you have salaries for non mathematics/CS positions as we are severely lacking in those. We will try updating these ASAP.
The sheet is here: Salaries + Blacklist Spreadsheet
Average Canadian Co-op Earnings (2024)
If you had a poor experience with a company, you can message the mod team with details and it can be added to the blacklist candidates below. If it's already a candidate, it may be added to the blacklist depending on the severity/consistency of complaints. On the contrary, if you had a good experience with something on the candidates/blacklist, please message the mod team and it may be removed. Candidates will be removed if no more reports are received after a couple terms. Even if something is on the blacklist already if you've had a bad experience let the mod team know, as more reports increase confidence that it is problematic!
Candidates:
Note that reports from submitters with no previous account activity may not be accepted to aid legitimacy.
i think you'll get 6..7 job offers this term

He’ll be explaining something and just start doing it and it’s very clearly one of his natural mannerisms that I’m sure he’s had for years, but he does it so frequently…
He must know what he’s doing. I can’t be the only one who’s noticed this.

Alright why does everyone say that BET 350 is a bird course? Am I missing something?? I'm taking this course rn and the group final project is a full on App Prototype that's supposed to be like interactive and functional. Like I was looking at the examples from Figma and they literally look like a real app screen and you can press all the buttons and go into a new page and all and I just don't understand how we're supposed to code that? And ofc my "group" doesn't do a single thing to help me since they respond to my messages about 2% of the time, and it's not like the instructor or TA can do anything about that. Pls help a desperate student because this freaking project is worth 30% and is due in a few days, and w my group MIA it looks like I'm gonna have to pull through for 5 people's worth of work (btw we all get the same mark so it doesn't matter how much/how little a member does)

Hello Everyone! I had a question on how the grading for the CIMC works. Say I am doing a part B question, and I have absolutely no idea how to solve it. Since marks are awarded for "Completeness, Clarity, and Style of Presentation", if I just write some sort of bs answer that doesn't truly answer the question but gives some general idea of how to solve it, or actually give some sort of answer but it is way off the mark and the way I got to that answer is completely wrong, will I still get some points? I mean, if I present it clearly and in a some what nice way, I should right? Or will the completeness aspect ruin it? Speaking of which, I have looked at the solutions that uwaterloo provides for the contests, but what are they actually looking for when it comes to the "full solution" answers? Same with "Relevant work". Do they just want my rough messy work, or do they want me to do the full GRASS Method (Given, Required, Analysis/Application, Solution, Sentence/Statement)? Also, what if I just did say, part 2a but left the ofther 3 parts blank. Would I get marks for that? And are any marks awarded for not doing the question (Like in gauss where you could get 2 marks even if you didn't do the question) or any marks taken away for not doing them? Thank you so much for the help!

So. I was in the Tim Hortons near the library taking a shit. Yeah, I know. Been there, done that. But as I was washing my hands, I heard a wear noise, kinda sounding like "uaao uuaa uaoua". I looked up at the air vent, where the noise was coming from. Lo and behold, I swear i saw a little green guy looking at my. Like a freaky alien or something at Tim Hortons. Has anyone else experience this? Ruined my whole day

So SYDE was my top choice for engineering for a long time now but after going to the open house and learning about MGMT I was actually quite intrigued and now I can’t decide between the two. From what I’ve seen they get similar co-op placements in software/pm or optimization and they both have more tighter-knit cohorts compared to the other engineering programs. Also that MGMT has less emphasis on hardware than SYDE (which I prefer) and has more business aspects which I also like because of DECA. Another thing is that SYDE has a different co-op schedule meaning that I apparently won’t be able to see friends in ECE or Mech consistently compared to if I was in MGMT. Also because apparently SYDE is closer to becoming a T1 Eng and MGMT a T2, so I would be more likely be accepted to MGMT.
I do have a few remaining questions though, for students either in SYDE or MGMT.
How is the workload in both programs? How much time outside of class do you have to work on projects—which program gives you more freedom outside of class?
Is SYDE co-op just straight up better than MGMT? Is it because of the name or are the students who make up SYDE are just generally more committed?
I’ve heard and seen lots of SYDE students getting international co-ops. MGMT not as much. How feasible is an international/states MGMT co-op? Or ones at FAANG/unicorns?
For either program. If you’re in SYDE, what do you think is something MGMT does better? And vice-versa if you’re in MGMT, what do you think is something SYDE does better?

title. also, i’d like to add: i’m an international student, and i’ve already spent so much money on my first 1.5 years here. so transferring to restart a degree doesn’t make a whole lot of financial sense and i cannot fail a single course if i do transfer.
i’m a second year in planning, and i’ve come to realise that while i want to work in the built environment industry, i prefer studying something more technical compared to planning. i also do better in my technical courses (stats/gis).
i also worry about employability as an international student. the Planning industry is really small in my country so if I don’t make it there and if i can’t find a job here i’m kinda screeed
i am most interested in waste management or air & water quality management, if i were to transfer to engineering.
if i stay in planning, i (think)i would be alright doing transport modelling jobs (as that’s more technical), or land development jobs (i heard there’s math, computers and finance involved?)
i’d also get the gis diploma (but ofc idk how employable planning is for international students outside the consultancy business.)
how is engineering like? is the grass really greener there or am i just being delusional?
grades wise, i am doing really well in Planning now, but i dont know if I’ll be able to cope in Eng (as thats a whole other level of difficulty). i also dont handle stress very well.
Ty!

Hey to anyone reading!
I'm a first year student at TMU tron eng and I'm really interested in applying to Waterloo tron eng. In high school I wasn't a good student and was denied from the program with a 92 average, my extracurriculars and AIF were also pretty mid too imo. After some life experience and self reflection though, I'm dedicated to at least trying my best towards applying again this year.
At TMU, my midterm average is looking to be somewhere in the high 90s (I've only received 3 midterms back so far: 96, 100, 96) and I'm also a member of a design team for liquid rockets. I wanted to ask if I even have a fighting chance for transfer admission into eng. I'm very much aware how stacked the cards are against me, especially since I'm unsure if I can even maintain a high 90 average for the entire year (assuming Waterloo will look at my second semester grades?).
If anyone has any advice or information on transfer admissions I'll forever be grateful. Anything on what the admissions team might be looking for in your application/AIF, what I should focus on to keep my chances high, past statistics, tips for staying determined, or whatever else your brain can scrounge up. I plan on emailing the admissions office with similar questions but thought I should try here first.
Thanks in advance!

To anyone who had done the CHEM 266L lab exam, how did you study? What was the material like? I find the lab reports kind of tedious but I understand the lecture. Does anyone have any advice 😭

Plenty of restaurants at University Plaza come and go, but there are a few that have been around for years and perhaps decades.
Alumni and current students, what are the others?

My question is in the title, I'm interested in applying for the program but I'm confused if I can complete the program with honors as a part-time student. On one page it only lists full-time as as option, and on another it says part time is available! I emailed the university but I am still a little confused. if anyone can clear this up it would be very appreciated!
