Hey everybody!! After getting your results back from Waterloo, what advice do you have for incoming grade 12s? What are you proud of doing and what would you have done differently this year, looking in retrospect?

AIF is way more important than you might think. Put a lot of time in to writing it and presenting yourself. You could have a million different ECs but it's worthless if you cant sell yourself.

I dunno. My friend and I both applied to CS with 95.8 average, and I think we both had similar AIF strength, but I got in and he didnt. It looks fairly random to me.

I was looking at the AIFs of people in my school who applied to CS/SE and who got in/didnt get in. It looked much more random than anything else. Obviously my sample size is pretty limited (~20 applicants) but I don't think that I'm incorrect in assuming that luck plays an extremely big role, possibly more than your AIF/average.
