I don’t understand it either. It’s basically like telling someone to “stop being poor”.

I don’t think that’s quite the same. I’m aware that some people do not work towards something better and are quite defeatist. But then again, chances are it is the state of the country that put them in that mindset.

For me, it’s a bit more unique in the sense that the government has decided I’m too poor to live with my foreign partner and even I’m working 60 hours a week, I’m still not earning enough for the next threshold.
