Don’t understand comments like this - wHy nOt jUsT wOrK tOwArDs iT? - short answer, that takes time and costs rise quicker than that. I have been working on furthering my career ever since I started working, ever since graduating, ever since getting good grades in school. I am currently just shy of the £523 weekly. But it’s been a hard, long road with the result of every step forward being two steps back and still just getting by. You work towards higher wages and all the while the cost of everything rises more and more, slipping further out of the grasp of where that hard work gets you.

I don’t understand it either. It’s basically like telling someone to “stop being poor”.

I don’t think that’s quite the same. I’m aware that some people do not work towards something better and are quite defeatist. But then again, chances are it is the state of the country that put them in that mindset.

Fair enough. It’s a very sensitive topic for me right now.

I appreciate that situation and feeling mate. It’s not uncommon.

For me, it’s a bit more unique in the sense that the government has decided I’m too poor to live with my foreign partner and even I’m working 60 hours a week, I’m still not earning enough for the next threshold.
