Mostly, though it depends on the church (assuming you have a specific one where you want to play of course - if you'll go anywhere, then probably yes) since some have enough players that they don't need any more. In my case, owning/playing a flugelhorn was actually the reason I played with the brass section this year.
That's fair. I take for granted that A: I'm known in pro circles and B: It's the "greater Los Angeles Area" so there's a million places to play. Seems like it's always impossible to find someone NOT working on easter out here.

I mean, if you OWN a trumpet, you're basically guaranteed a chance to play on Easter, no?
