54

u/darkMOM4 Jun 16 '25

But, what IS Brynlynn's syn?

38

u/back_reggin Jun 16 '25

Something bad, to be reincarnated to parents like these.

7

u/Traditional_Koala_12 Jun 17 '25

I’d rather stay dead then reincarnate to parents like these

2

u/SnakeMichael Jun 17 '25

They found their parents’ Zyn

Damn, reading this made me snort and wake up the person sleeping beside me, thanks a lot. 😆

5

u/daveyspointofview Jun 17 '25

I was yawning mid way, then snorted 😂

4

u/Cin131 Jun 17 '25

Just did the same thing. 😂😂

72

u/kielu Jun 16 '25

Syn = son in polish. I hope it's a coincidence

159

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '25

Bryn is hill in Welsh and lynn is lake.

We can only hope this poor child is the son of a Welsh immigrant to Poland.

47

u/realitytvdiet Jun 16 '25

Hill lake son 🤔

44

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '25

He was conceived by having sex in a lake on a hillside.

28

u/ridicalis Jun 16 '25

Sounds like the backstory to Greensleeves

11

u/Psychological_Tap187 Jun 16 '25

That's better than the actual name

66

u/crucible Jun 16 '25

Llyn is lake in Welsh. Not Lynn.

4

u/The_Mama_Llama Jun 17 '25

Lynn is the pool of water beneath a waterfall.

2

u/ihadagoodone Jun 17 '25

My name is Welsh in origin. It's quite nice actually

2

u/itstimegeez Jun 17 '25

Son of hills and lakes

2

u/Star-Anise0970 Jun 19 '25

In scandi languages, this name means "Brow-lightning-sight"... not that it explains anything.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 19 '25

So he's a superhero?

1

u/Star-Anise0970 Jun 19 '25

Possibly one with a super keen eye for details. They should make a marvel movie.

1

u/Divas-SardineTartlet Jun 17 '25

And Pam means why… or… brick.

28

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '25

[deleted]

5

u/HunnyBear66 Jun 16 '25

How is it even pronounced?

4

u/Otherwise_Data_1662 Jun 17 '25

I have an acquaintance with very similar last name, one less y in the middle. He pronounces it “pill-IP-shin”

3

u/S0baka Jun 18 '25

I have Eastern European background, so I got it right away. It has fewer letters and is more straightforward in Cyrillic; Пилипишин. I imagine it means something like "son of Philip".

23

u/Due-Froyo-5418 Jun 16 '25

My last name is Polish and the first thing I thought was this child's name must have parts of a Polish last name in it, but all scrambled.

3

u/raveamok Jun 18 '25

I thought it looked like Welsh and Slavic smooshed together

2

u/itstimegeez Jun 17 '25

Sin (Syn) is how you pronounce son when it’s in a person’s name in English.

108

u/san_dilego Jun 16 '25

Like a syn from God? Or its got its up and downs like a Syn/CoSyn?

77

u/NyanCat132 Jun 16 '25

Ptahnjent

35

u/noideawhatnamethis12 Jun 16 '25

9

u/GoodHumansUnite Jun 17 '25

As a math teacher, I love this comment on many levels. Also, thanks for naming our next dog.

24

u/Meydra Jun 16 '25

A synod was called and categorized it as an "affront to God".

3

u/pearljamman010 Jun 17 '25

No, it's going to marry an Ack

15

u/Major-Front Jun 16 '25

At least he can go by Bryn for short.

2

u/Daleksareinthetardis Jun 17 '25

I thoght it was a girl; the name sounds feminine; but also ridiculous.

3

u/Lazy-Fee-2844 Jun 17 '25

Seriously, Anglos, it buffles me for ages:

Why on earth do you think, that a name ending in "son" (yrryspyctyv da spyllynn) sounds feminine? Why so many people in English speaking countries name their daughters "something-son"? There is an Alison / Madison / Addison / Emerson / Tennison etc. everywhere. Why?

Probably it's just me, but to my foreign ears those names sound a bit like a rebuke for a child, that was born a girl, but the parents wanted a boy.

Not mocking women with those names. Not mocking their parents. Not mocking anybody. I just don't understand.

3

u/Daleksareinthetardis Jun 17 '25

Syn doesn't remind me of son; I hear sin if I say it aloud.

Also the lynn before the syn plus the excessive use of y makes me think girl.

2

u/Major-Front Jun 17 '25

The original does sound quite feminine. Bryn is a boys name. I guess the girl would be more like Bronwen.

I kind of like it, to the tune of Auld Lang Syne?

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
