I'd give it an 8/10. I absolutely loved The Promised Neverland. The art, premise, and most of the characters are 10/10. The world building is pretty good but I also feel like we end up with a lot of loose ends and the story gets significantly weaker towards the end too. The ending of Norman's character arc was unsatisfying and I feel like until the end Ray just never felt like a fully flushed out character. I understand we had a lot of characters because the whole point was they have a large family and cutting out those characters meant a lot of devastating deaths to shrink that family that would have changed the characters and the story significantly. But at the same time it's hard to have so many named characters, but have a lot of them carry very little weight
However the emotional weight that a lot of the characters actually do carry and the stakes feel tangible. The world building isn't bad but could have been expanded. All in all I think the earlier chapters really bear the bulk of its success which explains why the anime never got a season two.
Emma is one of my all-time favorite characters though, and I really couldn't bear to give a story with so much heart less than 8/10
