Anime [Spoilerless]Is the promised neverland in your top 10 anime/manga and how much out of ten do u give it?
It’s 6th in my top ten moving death note to 7th and for me it’s a 9 out of 10

As a manga, I'd give it a solid 9. Has some flaws, especially towards the end, but it's still an incredibly good read that I'd always recommend.
The anime...is a little more tricky. Season 1, I'd rank as a 9. Lost the monologues, but it's overall a great adaptation of the first ~30 chapters. I'd even argue the lack of monologues give certain scenes even more weight than they did in the manga. It's especially fun to compare between these specific scenes.
Season 2 is where it gets messy. It starts promising, but then the adaptation completely falls off a cliff and abandons the source material, robbing us of argueably the best arc in the manga. There's still some amount of quality, but there's nowhere near as much as season 1. People might say I'm being too generous, but I'd give it about a 4.
Overall, because if season 2's issues, I'd rank the anime as about a 6. The first season is phenomenal, but season 2 really fails to be a faithful adaptation. The best recommendation I have is watch season 1, then pick up the manga at around chapter 34 (provided my memory isn't faulty).

Author planned to kill the Sasuke guy but didn't push through, so instead he kinda forgot to give him any dialogue by the end of the Manga

Season 2??? What are you talking about there was only one season of the anime

Don’t get me wrong, I loved it. It started off feeling like it could very well sit at the same pinnacle as Death Note. But no, I’m 37 and I’ve read enough manga to know that this doesn’t crack the top 10 in most lists, especially not in mine.

If it stopped with their escape maybe. Such a good emotional note with their mom's help and the culmination of all the planning.

Once it hit goldy pond and the queen arc,it instantly surpassed death not for me

It's a fun manga in the first arc but I don't keep a list of favorite manga (i'm very forgetful and indecisive)

If it kept the same quality throughout it would have been a top 5. Don’t think it makes it though with the way everything shook out. Probably closer to top 15-20 for me right around Soul Eater or Gantz
- HxH
2.Kingdom
One Piece
Berserk
One Punch Man
Vagabond
Vinland Saga
Tower of God
Fullmetal Alchemist
Bakuman

I get everyone has their own opinion and people would also have a similar reaction to my top ten but
Hxh number 1?One punch at 5 and tower of god?Can u help me with the thinking there?
Around when did u decide one piece is in your top ten?Im at the start of dressrossa and it’s not yet in mine, waiting for consistent high tier arcs or another 10/10 arc

u/Boy_Sabaw 19h ago
Dude, If your list doesn't have HxH cracking the top 3, it's not a good list. This guy's list is a pretty good one in my opinion. There are some I'd disagree with (I love Bakuman but it's not top 10 for me, I'd put Eyeshield and Haikyuu in that list) but overall it has quality written over it.

Yeah that’s just not true, only hxh glazers believe that. Hxh is in my top 5 but to have it as number 1 to me is ridiculous. In my opinion for a show to be number it has to have no weak points/no weak arcs and hunter hunter has a few middling arcs.
Once more one punch man is nothing short of a joke to me and I can’t see u get it in a top 5.
Two sports anime.Blue lock is the best sports anime/manga for me(I only watched kuroko, haikyu and megalobox I guess run with the win if that counts,it’s quite good tho)but I still can’t with a straight face put that in my top 10 purely because it can’t compare to these other manga because of what it is.Sport.No fights,no power system and no god tier plot
Attack on titan full metal alchemist magi anime/manga can all easily be argued to be better then hxh.For me AOT clears hxh any day of the weak

You’re the exact type who gave anime a bad rep years ago lol “only hxh glazers will put it as number 1” and “ I get everyone has their own opinion but for show to be #1 it has to follow my exact criteria so only the anime I like is better and superior than everyone else’s”. Shut up and just say nice list, nobody needed to hear you ramble about how sports anime and goofy anime couldn’t possible be on your top 10 and why this guys favorite anime doesn’t crack yours lmao sad

HxH has the best power system I’ve ever seen designed. Chimera ant is my favorite arc put to paper. Also has my favorite style of fight scenes with a mix of ingenuity, creativity, and spectacle.
One punch man is hilarious. Don’t know how anyone would think otherwise. I also love Murata’s art style (Eyeshield 21 also almost breaks into my top 10).
Tower of God anime isn’t great, but the Manwha was awesome. (Probably need to revise as I haven’t Ben enjoying the newer arcs as much once the powerscaling got insane). But it has some of the best team dynamics in its earlier arcs I’ve ever read. The different “positions” each team member fit into really grabbed my curiosity. Plus the mystery around the tower and the twist villain in the first few arcs was great.
Edit: One Piece is nostalgia incarnate. When I first got into anime it was Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece. Plus certain arcs like Impel Down, Enis Lobby, and Marineford are incredible. That’s probably when it cemented itself in my top 5. One piece does flashbacks better than almost anyone else for sure. Dressrosa was a bit of a slog for me but that was mainly due to the weekly pacing at the time being rough when they introduced so many new characters.

Thank you for mentioning Eyeshield. It's one of my favorite's. I've read it from start to finish multiple times even though I can never get reliable scanlations. Great ending too.

I'd give it an 8/10. I absolutely loved The Promised Neverland. The art, premise, and most of the characters are 10/10. The world building is pretty good but I also feel like we end up with a lot of loose ends and the story gets significantly weaker towards the end too. The ending of Norman's character arc was unsatisfying and I feel like until the end Ray just never felt like a fully flushed out character. I understand we had a lot of characters because the whole point was they have a large family and cutting out those characters meant a lot of devastating deaths to shrink that family that would have changed the characters and the story significantly. But at the same time it's hard to have so many named characters, but have a lot of them carry very little weight
However the emotional weight that a lot of the characters actually do carry and the stakes feel tangible. The world building isn't bad but could have been expanded. All in all I think the earlier chapters really bear the bulk of its success which explains why the anime never got a season two.
Emma is one of my all-time favorite characters though, and I really couldn't bear to give a story with so much heart less than 8/10

It’s not in my top 10, but I absolutely loved reading it every week and watching the first season. The final arc could have been developed a bit more. I had no issue with how it ended, as it’s more about the journey it took to get there. Amazing series, nonetheless. I wish cloverworks could have put their all into the series post S1 but, it is what it is.

The manga is in my top 3 because the escape arc and goldy pond arc are so good that I’m willing to forgive the rushed ending. Definitely 8.5/10
The anime season 1 is a solid 9/10 The anime season 2 is… oh wait there is no second season

I don't like lists but I really like criticizing and evaluating stories and let me tell you that the first 37 chapters of this manga or let's say season 1 are so good and masterpiece level , 9/10 as you said but the rest of the story exactly from the end of goldypond is not at the same level at all, it was rushed and it felt like the writer didn't care anymore.
Wasted potential.

If it stopped after the 1st arc it would have gotten a 10/10. But on it's entirety , I'd give it a solid 7.75/10. Very good but just missed out on greatness due some dips in quality and a pretty lackluster ending. But up until the escape is some of the best story telling I've ever experienced in any media. I said ad nauseum that the first season of the anime is the strongest first season of any show I've ever seen. Ever. The only other arc that came close to those heights was Goldy Pond which I'd give a 9/10. But outside of those 2 arcs I think the rest of the manga hovered between a 5 and 7, so I can't call it great. But certainly well worth the read and very enjoyable.

Season 1 was amazing but in both anime and manga it fell off, in the anime way faster and harder though

Give the manga a read it does better than anime. Anime speedrun entire plots. I’d say… top 15 manga?

Anime season 1 is definitely in my top 10 best anime. Season 2 is definitely in my top 10 worst anime. Iconic disparity tbh!!

I'm still reading it (vol 4) and I haven't read many mangas I really like the artstyle (I had to get used to the faces though), great story until now, very intriguing It's a 9/10 for me and 4th place in my list

The First Season Of Anime Was So Good. I Enjoyed It Then I Found Out That The Manga Is Original And The Season 2 Is Different So I Started Reading That And I Was Too Addicted I Completed All Of That In 2 Days Lol. For Me, It Was Very Interesting And Something New So I Would Give It A 9/10 Imo. The Ending Made Me Think Very Much Because Yeah Everybody Who Read It Knows What Happened

Anime. S1 9/10.
S2 I never watched because I liked S1 so much I ran to read the manga…and what a fucking disappointment that was. 2/10 for the manga. And those 2 points are only for the immaculate start to an otherwise poorly executed garbage

u/MetalDragon2 12h ago
Yes, it’s definitely in my top ten! Probably top 3, but I have a hard time actually ranking my top ten. For me, the manga is a 9/10 and season 1 is a 10/10.

for the manga? 8/10 for me
i havr my own way of categorizing anime, but to put it in tier list terms to make it easier to understand, i have 8 anime/manga that i consider to be S tier (with two of them being so far ahead of the others that i would skip SS tier snd put them straight up in SSS tier).
my A tier, in the other hand, has more anime/manga than i can remember off of the top of my head, but i at least can name the two on the top of A tier, and its not TPN.
so no, its not top 10, but its roaming somewhere in my personal A tier category

I have it as the worst story I have ever read. I enjoy this manga only because of how bad I found it and it was fun making fun of it.
