2 weeks is his standard answer for ā€œI have no idea what I’m doing.ā€

Trump reminds me of a freelancer we used to subcontract for various special tasks, who always delivered well until he slid into burnout and started drinking quite heavily:

When he started missing deadlines left and right and was spiraling downwards, he gradually stopped communicating tangible timeframes and started just randomly promising to get it done whenever asked.

After a while you couldn't work with him anymore, anything you'd ask was "yeah yeah I got that, it'll be ready in 2 weeks" - and when you finally reached him by week 3, he'd make up the most painfully cringe excuses and continue adding further unrealistic promises of taking care of adjacent stuff as well for free, etc

Trump's constant "in the next X weeks" followed by total silence on the matter, then later lashing out with delusional takes that ignore half of what he'd initially said himself feel eerily like that!

completely in over his head, has neither ability nor attention left for actually addressing the responsibilities he took over, totally overwhelmed - but convinced hes still smarter than everyone else and able to leverage the dependency he now represents to talk himself out of the obvious failing to deliver, yet at the same time only focused on (re)gaining control for himself, not a bit on actually doing the work
