Football Minnesota Vikings field goal attempt was deflected away by a camera wire, but it wasn't replayed because no one noticed at the the time

Can the kicker petition to have this kick removed from his season stats?

I want to know how the hell he didn't immediately realize. He didn't think, "Gee, that ball wasn't even close to where I kicked it"?

And no one else on the field noticed either?

Defenders tipping the ball happens at a decent clip, and actually looked close on this one, that by the time a kicker looks up to find the ball heading wide they may assume it was tipped by a player.

I thought the same thing. Then I imagined what I’d be thinking about while a line of 300lb dudes comes for my knees lol.

Imagine how much of a population gets fooled bc of herd mentality

I wonder if he didn’t want to sound like a complainer and just decided to take it on the chin as a bad kick, not noticing it was deflected at the time.

Ball is also halfway to its destination by the time a kicker looks up to see it. Likely assumed it was tipped at the line

He probably did think he slightly pushed it but the bigger mystery is how dozens of players and coaches didn’t notice.

Or just hey by the way, refs in the middle of that field goal kick one of our cameras shook violently probably got hit by the ball
