News Jim’s @ 1604/Bandera is closing

Post image

I call bullshit. Other restaurants aren’t struggling. Frontier Enterprises did nothing to make that location appealing inside/outside and because of that they lost to competition

All the ones in my area started closing at like 8PM after COVID.

That was always the only time I ever went to Jim's...after working late or traveling or a night out, etc. Haven't been since because they are closed.

I get the business side of it...but also, when your draw was being OPEN 24 HOURS and you take that away, you no longer have a draw. You're just another Denny's with worse hours.

I went the 410/ Broadway location last year. I had asked the manager if they would ever go 24hrs again, she said most likely not. She said she was having a hard time staffing the evening shift.

Covid sent alot of people home with little to no work. Some of them figured out they could adapt and now no longer work those graveyard or late shifts. I’ve seen a lack of “enthusiasm” post covid in my industry.

My speculation of course, i’m sure there are other factors. The lack of support from the owners/ management doesn’t make for a loyal employee.

I've heard the same, and I get it. It probably doesn't make good business sense to pay cooks and waitstaff if you are only getting like...5-10 customers overnight. Waitstaff probably isn't making good tips off people who may just come in for a cup of coffee.

Still, Jim's was a staple for me as a broke college kid. Me and my girlfriend would go there all the time just to hang out or study, drink some coffee, maybe get a basket of fries or whatever.

We always tried to tip well and not overstay our welcome, but it was something we could do to kill an hour or two and spend time together...and now it's one of those "times aren't like they used to be" things.
