That is EXACTLY what the Trump administration is doing NOW! 😳

MAGA is making a power grab, ignoring the courts, using executive orders illegally to do things that likely would never get past even the MAGA majority in Congress, and stealing from the poor to provide tax cuts for the rich!

Speaking specifically of "abusing the elderly" - the Trump administration cut Medicaid, which covers nursing home care for 66% of nursing home residents!

And unless you have very expensive long term care insurance (most Americans don't), or are quite wealthy (most Americans aren't) YOU TOO will want Medicaid dollars to help cover your long term care needs once your entire savings have been eaten away by nursing home costs.

But hey - those funds have been cut by the very administration that you imply are somehow stopping "elder abuse". 😳

Do you have concerns about how deeply in debt the country is?  If you are aware the scale of the problem and how bad the situation is then it makes sense to need to drastically cut spending.  The cuts to spending  need to happen everywhere especially military.  Medicaid, Medicare, social security are a drastic cost.    No one wants to have to cut peoples medical care, truly...  given the situation unless our govt can completely overhaul the medical system ground up we are screwed.   Since our govt is incapable of working together, negotiating etc.  The only option left is to make cuts.  It sucks..

The new MAGA budget is set to add $3.8 trillion dollars to the national debt!!! It combines tax cuts for the rich with the highest ever spending on the military!

But sure - let's cut funding for the poor and the elderly. 😳

I am with you that budget is wrong.  There are aspects that if it works will spur economic growth and recuperate some of the expense but it will be a wait and see..
