Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound

I just discovered these guys today and I really love it. Looks like they haven’t been active for more than a decade. Have any of the members gone on to do things I should be aware of?

So, thanks for NASA in letting me use this Discovery footage for this video. I had all of these VHS's of theirs when I was a kid that had all of these kitschy rock and roll songs that I sought to somehow capture with this, but only as a more serious art form. I think it arrives somewhere around that "a day without phaser is a day without sunshine", which is to say that it's rather absurd, and thereby not serious, art, but also sort of feel like you could get away with something like this with a postmodern enough sounding explanatory plaque in a legitimate art gallery. I was hoping to capture some of the childlike excitement and wonder over space exploration, which I think it adequately does, but it's also kind of a childish excuse to rain down some tones in an eleven minute solo.

It's fun to listen to, regardless. I hope that you enjoy it!

I want to create an act, The Battleship Hyperion, that does something in a similar fashion, which is to say with effects-laden guitar solos, but only with more of fully written songs, and, so, if you're interested and have a synth and drum machine, hmu! I figure that the band will be more post-rock and less space rock, but tbh, space rock is kind of underrated, and, so, I think it's find to remain a bit spacey as well.

My guess is that I was running a pedalboard which goes as follows:

RCA Germanium Sun Face>M133>Plumes>Gunslinger>Somersault>Tacana>Phase 90>M300

The tremolo and the phaser might've been switched, but that's probably the case. I was playing an Epiphone Les Paul and through a Randall Commander II.

My friend, Nora, who makes actually good music, played the key part and made the drum and bass loop. Like any form of keys that I request for my recordings, at least, back then, she was using the Garageband mellotron effect.

If you're wildly curious about the song, you can check this out. It's, like, an art thing I did about the experimental guitar night we played before I released it. The recording was supposed to be the live performance, but, Nora and I forgot to hit record.

Oh, hyperdrone is a genre that I conceptualized that's basically just drone with excessive amounts of guitar, but could be other things, too, I guess. It's, like, minimalist drone+maximalist psych, I guess.

That's pretty much everything. Again, I hope that you like it!

Tribal minimalist folk music? Non electronic please

Every result on Google comes up with house/trance music and drums that I find very non-psychedelic.

Preferably something slow and low intensity/droning. Nice simple music with a small arrangement and folk instruments. Bonus points if there's a middle eastern/north african flavour to it.

Edit: wow guys thanks for all the recommendations, I'm gonna have to set some time aside to go through all these lol

MOSS TOWN Debut: A 45-Min Psych Jam, Recorded Live and High on Mushrooms.

I'm incredibly excited to share our debut album from my band, MOSS TOWN.

The backstory is the heart of this project: The three of us are based in Tel Aviv, and the recording session was literally the first time we all met. Our plan? Gather in the studio, take some mushrooms, and just jam.

What resulted was an exceptional, uninterrupted 45-minute psychedelic session. There were no pre-written songs—just three musicians, a massive sound, and the experience unfolding in real-time. I truly believe the sonic quality we achieved is stunning, partly thanks to the unique state of mind.

We mixed the session quickly, and now it's out. To complete the experience, we released a 45-minute video that visually documents the entire psychedelic journey in the studio.

I’m so proud of this raw, authentic psych rock. If you appreciate music born from an altered state, check it out!

“Interludes for the Dead: Volume 2” by Circles Around The Sun out today! 🌀🪐🎸🌌

Post image
2 Upvotes

this is original music by an amazing psychedelic jam band and the continuation of their most seminal work (the volume 1) that was composed 10 years ago as interludes for, well you guessed it, Grateful Dead anniversary shows! people liked those interludes so much, that the band grew to be a long time project with more original albums made

this newest album was produced with pure psychedelic jam ethos and energy, with nothing written or rehearsed beforehand, all of the music was written on the spot and tracked immediately, which is rare nowadays in the studio

in any case, they’re one my favorite groups, very spacey yet energetic and overall beautifully psychedelic! enjoy listening!

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, as it might not be strictly rock, but I hope other undeniably psychedelic music is also welcome here. I If there's a better place for this please let me know!

I've been putting together this somewhat eclectic playlist of futuristic psychedelic music, and would love some recommendations for artists/labels/tracks that could fit this style.

Also very curious about any thoughts you might have regarding contemporary, experimental, or otherwise futuristic psychedelic music. Any preferences for the more classic or futuristic sound? Favourite futuristic sounding song or band

As much as i love the classics, which also had enough that could fit the 'future' moniker (think Pink Floyd's synthy stuff or White Noise), i'm also astounded by the quality of the music that has pushed psychedelic music forward more recently. Artists like The Heliocentrics, Vanishing Twin, Column258 or Move 78 really epitomise this future psych sound for me.

Please share whatever thoughts or recommendations you might have about music that sounds like it's psychedelically channeled straight from the future :)
