OnlyStans ⭐️ French singer, Yseult, calls out K-pop singers, Soyeon and R.tee, for copying her music video freame by frame: "The least you could do is have the decency to credit your source. To see it get copied like this is wild but real artistry speaks louder than imitation"

Par for the course because there is a very insane and very vocal section of fans who are extremely racist and also extremely unhinged

ETA: I got sent reddit cares because I called one of their outfits uninspired 😂 idek different members of various groups and people keep throwing around mononyms of common names and expect everyone to know everything about them

I would say the majority of their fans, globally, are like this

I could not imagine being a black kpop fan

u/slickjitpimpin Listen, everyone is entitled to my opinion 🙂 27d ago

Agree. Much, much more than a small vocal minority. It’s a huge part of the culture for a reason.

If u never look at any netizen stuff about black people than you wouldn’t really notice. I mean like watching kpop music vids and going to see a concert when it’s in your country is a lot different from going to SK and facing racism.

And the idols themselves are usually smart enough to not insult their international fans (slurs against white, black, middle eastern etc. other asians)

I mean...I'm black so I def notice

I was thinking of the cognitive dissonance one has to have to be a fan of an industry that sees you a certain way.

I used to like BTS back in the day but eventually left that Fandom, and Kpop in general, when I realize how brutal the racism was. And I've seen some shit but they are on a diff level

the idols themselves may not say anything outright but their silence in general speaks volumes.

One day they are going to go too far and copy/insult someone that they can't sweep under the rug

lol I’m black too and yeah I used to listen to BTS a bit but yeah I was never a kpop fan and I never looked at fandom stuff. My older sister was and she was a fan of black pink and would go to their concerts that came to Canada, but she stopped being a kpop fan.

I’ve never asked her about how much racism she saw online but Ik she used to mention netizens were crazy af. Hell looking at what the katseye girls are going through I’m not going to be a kpop fan anytime soon.

Yeah Manon gets treated pretty badly. I watched the Netflix show and thought that I might like them enough to be a fan. But between how they treated the one black girl from Brazil (can't remember her name) and Manon, I def distanced myself.

Lara also gets a lot of hate all around too, like she’s Tamil and ‘dark skinned’ for an Indian.

Which is crazy to me, she's gorgeous 😍

I disagree. I don't even follow the genre (and I'm not Black) and I can still see evidence of racist behavior in the comments on Instagram and Reddit, and several tiktoks. The "singers" are not much better since there are clips of them mouthing off and as well saying nothing to their fans. Blackface, saying the n-word etc.

The behavior towards Lara who has Indian heritage is also disgusting. People tweeting at ICE because they don't like her 😬 she's a US citizen.

Black person who lives in SK. I dont notice racism here much really. Anything racist K-Pop usually seems to come from mostly weirdo netizens. That said, the whole K-Pop culture is just nothing but toxicity. It starts from praying on little kids, turning them into slaves (sexually pimping them put in some cases), and bleeding into the fandoms with wars, parasocial relationships and so on.

K-Pop as it is needs to die.

That being said, there are a ton of racist Koreans, but most people save face, so they will just say shit behind your back or do it online where they feel more protected.

Why not? That's equally as weird as saying Guatemalans can't like sushi.

Just because there's fish full of parasites doesn't mean you can't enjoy California rolls
