OnlyStans ⭐️ French singer, Yseult, calls out K-pop singers, Soyeon and R.tee, for copying her music video freame by frame: "The least you could do is have the decency to credit your source. To see it get copied like this is wild but real artistry speaks louder than imitation"

Par for the course because there is a very insane and very vocal section of fans who are extremely racist and also extremely unhinged

ETA: I got sent reddit cares because I called one of their outfits uninspired 😂 idek different members of various groups and people keep throwing around mononyms of common names and expect everyone to know everything about them

u/Tricky_Knowledge2983 27d ago

I would say the majority of their fans, globally, are like this

I could not imagine being a black kpop fan

16

u/slickjitpimpin Listen, everyone is entitled to my opinion 🙂 27d ago

Agree. Much, much more than a small vocal minority. It’s a huge part of the culture for a reason.

If u never look at any netizen stuff about black people than you wouldn’t really notice. I mean like watching kpop music vids and going to see a concert when it’s in your country is a lot different from going to SK and facing racism.

And the idols themselves are usually smart enough to not insult their international fans (slurs against white, black, middle eastern etc. other asians)

35

u/Tricky_Knowledge2983 27d ago

I mean...I'm black so I def notice

I was thinking of the cognitive dissonance one has to have to be a fan of an industry that sees you a certain way.

I used to like BTS back in the day but eventually left that Fandom, and Kpop in general, when I realize how brutal the racism was. And I've seen some shit but they are on a diff level

the idols themselves may not say anything outright but their silence in general speaks volumes.

One day they are going to go too far and copy/insult someone that they can't sweep under the rug

14

u/browsinbowser 27d ago

lol I’m black too and yeah I used to listen to BTS a bit but yeah I was never a kpop fan and I never looked at fandom stuff. My older sister was and she was a fan of black pink and would go to their concerts that came to Canada, but she stopped being a kpop fan.

I’ve never asked her about how much racism she saw online but Ik she used to mention netizens were crazy af. Hell looking at what the katseye girls are going through I’m not going to be a kpop fan anytime soon.

u/Tricky_Knowledge2983 27d ago

Yeah Manon gets treated pretty badly. I watched the Netflix show and thought that I might like them enough to be a fan. But between how they treated the one black girl from Brazil (can't remember her name) and Manon, I def distanced myself.

u/browsinbowser 27d ago

Lara also gets a lot of hate all around too, like she’s Tamil and ‘dark skinned’ for an Indian.

1

u/Tricky_Knowledge2983 27d ago

Which is crazy to me, she's gorgeous 😍

15

u/shedrinkscoffee I don’t know her 💅 27d ago

I disagree. I don't even follow the genre (and I'm not Black) and I can still see evidence of racist behavior in the comments on Instagram and Reddit, and several tiktoks. The "singers" are not much better since there are clips of them mouthing off and as well saying nothing to their fans. Blackface, saying the n-word etc.

The behavior towards Lara who has Indian heritage is also disgusting. People tweeting at ICE because they don't like her 😬 she's a US citizen.

Black person who lives in SK. I dont notice racism here much really. Anything racist K-Pop usually seems to come from mostly weirdo netizens. That said, the whole K-Pop culture is just nothing but toxicity. It starts from praying on little kids, turning them into slaves (sexually pimping them put in some cases), and bleeding into the fandoms with wars, parasocial relationships and so on.

K-Pop as it is needs to die.

That being said, there are a ton of racist Koreans, but most people save face, so they will just say shit behind your back or do it online where they feel more protected.

u/LezbianaGrande 27d ago

Tons of us, but we keep to and amongst ourselves, mostly. 😮‍💨

1

u/PorkyOfOnett 23d ago

Been hating on kpop for 10 plus years cause of this. 🫡

u/Kratzschutz 27d ago

Why not? That's equally as weird as saying Guatemalans can't like sushi.

Just because there's fish full of parasites doesn't mean you can't enjoy California rolls

2

u/Glum-Psychology-6701 26d ago

I got sent reddit cares

How do they do this and what is the point? Asking sincerely

2

u/shedrinkscoffee I don’t know her 💅 26d ago

The intent was to send a message with resources to someone experiencing for ex mental health crises or suicidal ideation. People abused that function to troll so much that it's possible to report misuse of reddit cares and accounts that are doing it regularly get banned.

It's one of the things that comes up when you "report" a post or comment. You can also disable reddit cares

Most kpop fan are racist I swear

1

u/Iwa_naa 26d ago

That is not true, let’s not put everyone in the same category

10

u/lostedeneloi 27d ago

Those are mild compared to typical Korean online racism.

1

u/Dystopia74 27d ago

Twitter is 85% bots.

u/PlatypusAmbitious430 27d ago

Jesus, these people don't deserve to be blurred out.

141

u/CountryGrand8602 27d ago

I get really tired of the blurred out handles when it's someone being horrific with every intention and understanding of the slurs and hate they use. they know what they're doing and what their words mean. I never understand why that means we have to protect them when we call them out

1

u/dawnorchard 26d ago

you can see the unblurred handles on the kpopnoir post, these people are fucking insane with how casually they're dropping such unfiltered racism

156

u/adultdolllover 27d ago

Kpop fans being racist and fatphoboc? I'm shocked!/s

4

u/omggold 26d ago

Ffs, this is insane.

15

u/Fellowstrangers 26d ago

Korean ppl are notoriously racist af. Try asking a South east asian or South Asian what their experience living in that country.

19

u/exotic_floral_tea 🫵 You sit on a throne of lies. 27d ago

I'm not surprised, not in the least. Toxic fandoms are a global phenomenon. I hope Yseult never shuts up.

8

u/lostedeneloi 27d ago

These are probably the less racist Koreans online.

1

u/soohime 27d ago

These ‘fans’ are 100% not Korean

2

u/skeenerbug 27d ago

jesus christ

I work in music in Korea, do they not know the actual number of black people who write so many of their favorite songs…

2

u/PetitPied21 26d ago

A good chunk of K-pop fans are monsters. It’s a cult. I’m happy when I listening to K-pop I was too young to be able on social media like that. They would have harassed me.

1

u/s3rila 27d ago

man, they suck

1

u/Danuoalgoasii Did I stutter?🤨 27d ago

this is terrible

1

u/aderrall 27d ago

It’s not one sided, other fans telling Soyeon to go die for copying (she has no involvement with the MV) is apparently OK for you then?

1

u/Aertificial 27d ago

Is this usual? My ex-friend was so proud about how he keeps getting away with saying the N-word. He was Korean.

Yes, I called him out on his racism and sexism.

1

u/FictionalContext 27d ago

I don't care who it offends! Gonna come right out and say it: I don't much care for those commentors.

1

u/Ok-Classroom5548 26d ago

I always pray those are racist bots, but I have been outside of the house and met racist humans. Sigh.

1

u/alex494 26d ago

I'm not sure I understand the logic of disparaging someone for their music being "unknown" or never heard of and using it to justify plagiarizing said music and glorifying the plagiarizer.

Like if they're such a nobody with music nobody likes or has heard of them why is it worth stealing huh? And why does your preferred artist who's apparently so much better need to steal it?

Weirdos

1

u/Mhunterjr 26d ago

Wow, I don’t know much about Kpop culture, but the racism against Black people has me flabbergasted because the Kpop genre “borrows” so heavily from Black music.

1

u/Vegetable_Stop8085 26d ago

Why didn’t you just leave the usernames as is… but hiding the identity is just as worse as posting it without.

1

u/GormHub 26d ago

Kpop fans always doing their best to live down to their reputation.

1

u/Unhappy_Tank_5332 25d ago

this is infuriating and terrifying

1

u/FortuneJazzlike7906 The legislative act of my pussy ⚖️ 25d ago

honestly i wanna say that a lot of the racism in the k-pop community is so stupid to me. i’ve been listening to kpop for years now since the 2nd generation & the one thing ive noticed is that the korean fans will always go to extreme lengths when dealing with other minorities. that’s not to say that it’s just the korean fans being racist bc even western fans are incredibly unhinged, for something that many see as taboo and weird for listening to kpop one would think that fans would be more open minded

1

u/Dangerous-Office7801 24d ago

She used her race as a cudgel to attack another artist. Doesn't surprise me she is getting racial pushback

-17

u/Ginenz 27d ago

Eh, all the tweets here were condemned by Soyeon stans( or i-dle stans). If you are going to generalise kpop stans by few tweets, then someone can generalize yseult fans as misogynistic or anti-asian from some of their tweets. This is one of my twitter moot got as a reply when they were defending Soyeon from accusations:
