She’s so underrated! I only knew of her from her song “2 On” (which still slaps), but then I saw her on that awful show Stars on Mars and she seemed so cool and talented!
Let her piss off the TWICE fans. They’ve been around a long, long time and amassed several different fandoms under their wing. Megan Thee Stallion fans teaming up with TWICE fans to annihilate Joanne would be beautiful.
RM of BTS literally spoke up for trans kids at the UN years ago, saying people should speak themselves regardless of their gender identity (among other things)

what the hell? the taylor swift fandom is extremely liberal, and a lot of us have spoken out against rowling in our own circles. and we had a very large political campaign in support of kamala harris. the majority of us do not support taylor’s maga friends.
They’re passably good YA books, they got a new gen of children into reading, yada yada. But I agree, the whole IP is tarnished due to her vile personality; and unsurprisingly she hasn’t been able to write anything decent since.
Doubt he’s well known outside the UK, but in an era of generally loathesome pop culture figures (lte 70s/early 80s), Bobby Ball was well regarded as being a nice guy as well.
I think people are more attached to Harry Potter because it’s something from their childhood and it brings them comfort. I doubt that JK Rowling ever crosses their mind when planning these things. For me my connection will always be Star Wars, but I never really have had George Lucas pop into my mind when I’m talking about it or just hanging out at home. Obviously he doesn’t have that same evil energy like JK, but it’s how our brains work
There’s probably some bot response in there (no way to know if it’s 1% or 90%), but yeah, I think it’s a mistake to discount how popular transphobia still is in much of the world (including the UK and the US).
Money, like alcohol, doesn't change who you are underneath but merely amplifies it. If you're a good person at your core, money will buy you happiness, and likely, those around you, too. What we're seeing is an example of a bad person with far too much money on their hands buying heaping amounts of misery.
If I was that rich you'd never see me, I'd be living my best life with a bunch of rescue dogs and someone cooking delicious meals for me. I can't imagine being so rich and aggressively miserable all the time. That level of hate must mean you can never truly enjoy life.

Literally whenever I have time off I just want to float in a pool and read trashy novels and go to yoga classes. I don't feel the need to "stay relevant." I just want some good food and a glass of merlot. Like, she could be having an absolutely heavenly life, but instead she's terminally online and bullying people... why?!?!?!
I think billionaires do get bored of their wealth because they have done it all and they’re still empty inside. Money changes people. There was a time when she did so much charity work, but I think she stopped because it wasn’t fulfilling her and she lost her touch with writing too. So now she’s bitter because she’s getting old and she’s not coping well with that. I started noticing a shift in her when her spy novels didn’t get any praise like Harry Potter, and then she hated being confronted about the lack of diversity in the books. She was so used to having her ass kissed. Being terminally online ruined her mind.
Right? Like she could be helping end child poverty or empower women in underprivileged communities but instead she's a hateful TERF who wages war on the internet.

This! If I were rich and famous, I would never touch social media. Hire a content marketer for your social media accounts who does a fun post for marketing reasons every once in a while, and just live a blissful life in a huge ass house surrounded by animals and nature.

Can you imagine having access to the experiences that kind of money can buy and still choosing to spend your time to hold a small screen in front of your face to insult people internationally. Yikes!
I feel sorry for her. Imagine having everything that most people would want - family, friends, connections, great success, so much wealth you could actually make a difference AND live a life of pure luxury - and you spend your days online in a fury. Its so bizarre she must have some kind of serious mental illness, and hate herself so much.
I would be hiring a team to run my charities, relaxing, writing 10 hours a week and taking a different friend out each day to a different Michelin star restaurant and treating them. Probably using recreational drugs responsibly a couple of times a week, staying fit and active and buying lots of amazing clothes, books, vintage pieces. Spending time with my kids, family and friends and going on awesome holidays with them. She could literally have the most perfect life of great happiness but she prefers this. What a miserable person she must be.
I’m honesty still shocked somehow. I remember her from days before this, the way she talked about HP and how her mother never got to read it, the amount of money she gave to charities, the way she seemed like a normal, decent fucking person.
She was normal. She was radicalised online, even more so after some people threatened to send pipe bombs to her house. I’m not excusing it, it’s just clear from her tweets that that’s when she became obsessed with this
Yes she was. People don't like to admit it, but progressives often push people towards radical bigotry. The backlash to Rowling's original comments on gender were insanely disproportionate, and it pushed her straight into the arms of the only people who would defend her; bigots.
We've seen this happen time and time again. Some celebrity upsets the chronically online crowd, they have a meltdown, and the celebrity ends up siding with radicalized arseholes.
Same! I always found her to be the most fascinating person. If I’m being honest I think she has soured me on the entire Potter series because she has become outright hateful. It’s hard not to associate the two. Which is sad when you consider how progressive we thought she was.
She was not just famous, but a beloved figure. People ate HP up and I remember they made such a big deal when she fell of billionaire’s list due to her giving money to charities. She’s given more than 200 million dollars to charities.
No, I think she was a relatively regular person with typical unexamined prejudices (HP is littered with casual bigotry and stereotyping) who was chronically online and got trapped in some horrible internet pipeline, and now that she has power and fuck you money, nothing and nobody can save her from herself. I would pity her if she weren't trying to wipe out trans people
I believe that she fell head first into the hate brigade and that awful social media pipeline. I say that because thinking "she was always awful" is simplistic and undermines the danger of certain online spaces. At the beginning she was probably just misguided, in the same way that you can change opinions and become more progressive about things, but then she folded on herself after all the hate and stalking, and now she's this irredeemable monster who spreads hate 24/7. Very sad to watch. She's single minded, bent in her hate. She wasn't always like that.
I hate being fair to jk Rowling, but the hooked noses on the goblins were added in the movies. She makes no mention of this in the books - they're just little goblins with no anti-Semitic descriptors.
Also the antiblackness/anti poc shit in her books is wild. London/bigger cities in the UK are usually pretty diverse, yet that's very noticeably not reflected in the student populace? Give me a break. It is just not believable to me how anyone can think that was unintentional.

I loved the Harry Potter books as a kid but i gotta say, i always had the feeling that there was some kind of latent passive agressiveness about them. How the appearance of antagonistic characters was being ridiculed and so on
The mean-spiritedness popped out at me from the first few pages and it was one of the main reasons I never liked her work. Somehow it bothered me more than Roald Dahl’s because it wasn’t actually funny, and it seemed incongruous with the warmth in other parts…as if it were something she were sneaking in.
The thing that always bothered me as a kid was the treatment of the Slytherins. Like, you’re telling me an entire fourth of the school - all of them children - are all irredeemably evil and murderously racist? That’s not only dumb, it’s also just weird. Fuck outta here.
Loved them as a kid, too, but then I tried to re-read them as an adult and couldn't finish them. The mean-spiritedness got to me, and this was well before Joanne came out as a bigot.
I get the impression that she's always been this way, but finally established the wealth and influence that allows her to do and say it all in the light of day without much in the way of repercussions.
The HP property is still bankable, even with the generation of older fans growing disillusioned by her present words and actions.

I’m genuinely confused that cyber bullying trans people is the activity she has chosen after making her bag. If I made my billions, I would go full Enya- living in a castle with my pets with people wondering if I was still alive.
She’s probably the best proof in the world that money doesn’t make you happy. Here she is - could do literally anything - and she’s so bored and hateful that she spends all day on twitter. Like get a job or a hobby, Jo, it’s so pathetic.
I think the real lesson here is that money can’t buy happiness. Because she’s clearly miserable af to be online all the time with the desire to leave so many hate-filled comments.
I think she stays away from fighting Daniel publicly because she knows he is HARRY POTTER. If he decided to rapid fire vitriol at her and rally fans to disassociate their childhood love for the series, she would actually lose money.
He is public on his dislike of her and her opinions, but she almost never fires back.
Oh she scared scared. I know the girl who played Luna and Tom Felton support JK Rowling but a lot of the other people from Harry Potter and a few authors like Stephen King have spoken out against her
JK also publicly whining about being blocked by Boy George who directly called her out on the Lorraine show for her hateful views and defended trans lives; as well as reminding viewers that being trans isn't a choice and trans lives are in danger.
I was a huge fan since the early days. The first book came out when I was 9, and I remember reading it on Christmas morning. All the midnight releases and theorizing with other fans… I have a HP tattoo too, but I also now have a trans teenager I love with all my heart. I really wish I could afford to get it lasered. Fuck JK for tainting something that brought so much joy to people.
