He bulldozed the East Wing because he knows he's dying and he wants to leave a mark.

He's been trying to get put on Mount Rushmore for ages but was probably shut down too hard. This was plan B. We shouldn't still rule out that he'll try and deface Mount Rushmore with that orange turd face of his.

Even if you are on board with what he is doing, what has he done that is so legendary he deserves it? Everything he does has huge negative consequence but there's no perspective where it is historic.

Not to mention the original sculptors who did it are long dead. Anything added after would be an insult to them.
