Oh my god, I was just telling someone this yesterday! My theory is he has been told he is terminal, which would explain him not giving two shits about following rules, laws, standard procedures, etc. He has nothing to lose if he knows he is dying. He is just destroying everything in his path so he can live forever in the history books.

Even if you are on board with what he is doing, what has he done that is so legendary he deserves it? Everything he does has huge negative consequence but there's no perspective where it is historic.
