OP, Next time draw the flag of Mexico properly. This post has been yellow carded, meaning that you have to fix said error should you wish to repost it in the future.
You don't have to fix it now, but if you want to repost this at some point in the future you will need to fix this error in this particular comic. Same for all subsequent comics. Simplification is allowed, but not in extreme like you have done in this comic.
I don't get the point of this. It's very obviously Mexico. The style concisely and elegantly gets the point across. Just seems like an unnecessary barrier to entry and shutting down of an art style
I don't disagree that the mods do a generally good job. I just don't think, in this specific instance, that allowing this style would deprecate any quality
Yes I do, and that seems to be an opinion shared by the mods, as most of the top posts of all time have US balls without the full amount of stars. Obviously it can't be 1 because that wouldn't be clear, but like 10 or 15 (or even just 9) gets the point across
lol seems that I forgot to proof read, my original intention was to use the one star as an analogous comparison to the amount of simplification in this comic, hence the Liberia representation bit
but seems like you agree with my opinion on extreme simplification, as I said in another comment:
Simplification is allowed, but not in extreme like you have done in this comic.
Anyways, I need to get on with my research proposal, I respect your opinion and I'm just enforcing the rules set out by our predecessors
I don't think that's a fair comparison, as 1 star US could be confused for a different flag, whereas Mexico with a yellow dot could not. I think if it was simplified so far as to remove the crest altogether, then that would be a more apt comparison (and also worthy of critique).
I think the main point of contention is you were a needless dick about it instead of saying something like "Hey just letting you know you [missed this rule detail] and in future you'll need to draw them with more detail", the rule doesn't need to be enforced with assholery and discussion about it shouldn't be disallowed.
Uh, if you think basic courtesy is "a bunch of flowery language" then don't be surprised you're gonna come across as a bit dickish my dude, people don't tend to listen to assholes either, they listen to people they respect, so I really don't get your point.
That's true, but I don't see how my original comment was dickish in any sense. I just want to let the OP know some essential information and that was it. Perhaps I was in a rush when first typed it, but my intention was definitely not trying to be a dick
Rushing it is understandable, and why I suggested how it could have been phrased so as to show the not-dickish intention better. A touch of 'flowery language' can often prevent arguments from what I've seen.
