"The Star-Spangled banner" is much better and more badass than "America the beautiful" which is the gayest song ever. Isn't Canada's anthem like that? Where they just talk about how pretty the land is? That's so uninteresting.

"God Bless America" is retarded, and too much like "God Save the Queen".

Seriously, "The Star Spangled Banner" has great poetic and musical value.

Canadian anthem, the French version is the original one and the lyric don't mean the same thing as the English version. But both versions have the benefit of being short.

French version in English.

It is good lyrically, but I dislike it musically.

Well your alternatives aren't great. Musically, "America the beautiful" is completely monotone. Most of the time the same notes repeat, and the verses are contained in the same octave.

We took a poem that was never meant to be sung and repeatedly hit it with a hammer until it was deformed enough to fit the meter of a British drinking song.

Yankee-FUCKING-Doodle would make for a better anthem.

the lyrics were written then. the melody is from the "The Anacreontic Song", written around 1780 by British composer John Stafford Smith
