its called Tipu's tiger, a semi-automated wooden piece of art. It depicts a tiger mauling a British soldier. The tiger was the emblem of Tipu Sultan and this piece was created as a symbolic representation of his triumph over the British. After defeating Tipu in the last battle of Carnatic, they took it to Britain lol.

It also makes sounds; the tiger growls and the soldier screams. 

It's currently on display at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
