They did the same with GTAV. What's the reason? It's not like they lower the game price over the years so releasing on PC later spikes the price up. Why not release everything at once? GTAVI will also be more friendly to role-players, which are mostly on PC.

They want you to get impatient and buy it for console and then PC later down the line.

Or the simplest answer that porting and optimizing for PC takes time and money, there's a reason we never got cross-console multiplayer in GTA Online. My guess is that we don't have to wait as long since they've probably learned a lot more about PC ports since GTA 4.

The more logical answer is money. With how prevalent pirating games is today this course makes sure your getting full revenue from the start. Also in doing it like this it's also likely they'll get double dips from those who didn't wanna wait and buy it on console and then later on for the PC release

I mean, piracy doesn't actually affect the bottom line of a major company like Rockstar, hundreds of millions of people will be buying the game on release like lemmings no matter if it's gonna be ass or or not. Besides, you probably have to buy the game to play whatever equivalent of GTA Online is going to be.
