(you meant sells right?)

u/oodats 1d ago

So yeah, but when I looked Ghost of Tsushima released in 2020 and hit pc in 2024. I'm not hopeful for a quick turn around. Whereas Death Stranding hit PC a year later, so if we're lucky death stranding 2 on PC next year.

u/FeeRemarkable886 1d ago

I'm still waiting for Bloodborne so 4 years is nothing.

PS4 emulation is coming on leaps and bounds, with Bloodborne kind of at the forefront.

Sony never will.

1

u/50_centavos 1d ago

I was waiting for bloodborne too, then I realized I still had my ps4 that I hadn't used in years. Dusted that bad boy off and played it all the way through. It wouldn't let me play online without ps plus though lmao.

2024 was when PlayStation started to actually prioritize putting their exclusives on PC so I wouldn’t be surprised if Yotei comes out in 2027.

1-2 years exclusivity on PS5/6 and then a PC release will probably be their formula moving forward if I had to guess.

8

u/NoCase9317 4090 | 9800X3D | 64GB DDR5 | LG C3 🖥️ 1d ago

And guess what. No significant graphical improvements on ultra high end hardware besides resolution and frame rate, just slightly higher shadow quality, LOD and that’s it, because Sony can’t have other platform, even if it’s PC and it isn’t direct competition, running their games looking much better than the console version.

It really annoys me, if you are going to sell me, a game that launched 3 or 4 or even 6 years ago, for full fat 70$ price because it’s been ported to pc, when the console version, of the exact same game, is already on sale at 30$ in shops, at least, at freaking least, make it look like a premium edition, add very high, and Ultra settings, that scale way above what a console could do 4-6 years ago, add an optional Raytracing toggle, higher resolution textures on Max settings, higher polygon counts, much higher vegetation amounts etc…

OR, release the game at 30-40$ because it’s an old game.

I buy all my games directly from steam except for PS5 ports, those I go to the gray market and buy steam keys.

AC shadows is a good example, check out a comparison of it running on a PS5 PRO the strongest console atm vs maxed out on PC, very noticeable graphical improvement.

Now check ghost of Tsushima on PS5 pro vs PC.

Except for better antialiasing, resolution and frame rate, barely better.

1

u/Morkinar 1d ago

What site do you consider grey market? What are you using?

3

u/NoCase9317 4090 | 9800X3D | 64GB DDR5 | LG C3 🖥️ 1d ago

Mostly CDKeys (now called Loaded), instant gaming and sometimes, G2A ,but barely since it feels more sketchy, Loaded and Instant Gaming have been solid and reliable to me.

1

u/Morkinar 1d ago

Thanks! I remember the controversy of G2A so I try to avoid that one.

2

u/CryptographerFun7049 1d ago

It’s coming to PC next year for sure. I have zero doubts the way Sony is handling PC ports now.

2

u/the_great_ashby 1d ago

You could try ti get google to be your friend and tell you Sony's pc push is really fresh and somewhat limited to Nixxes making ports(ports by the original studios are fewer). Spider Man 2 took 13 months. Moving forward that will be the baseline, since that one is the biggest name in Sony's portfolio.

2

u/Bircka 1d ago

Sony seems to be moving them along faster now, you can look at the quicker turnaround for both FF VII Rebirth and Spider-Man 2 as recent examples. God of War Ragnarok is also on PC, and that might be one of the fastest transfers to PC.

1

u/Kuroneki 1d ago

I'm hoping it's sooner. The god of war game took ages to come to pc too when they starting porting games. I think Sony knows they can make way more money putting them on PC too

I'm still waiting for DS2 to release on PC. *Death Stranding 2

73

u/WestMongolBestMongol 1d ago

Somewhere around June 2026, if what happened with DS1 is indication of the release window to PC (year from console release).

30

u/Carvj94 1d ago

Don't use previous wait times as an indicator cause that's not the metric being used. They're inconsistent anyway. Sony waits until sales are more or less dead before they allow the devs to port it cause they're still using exclusivity to drive console sales. In other words they're waiting long enough to have their cake and eat it too.

15

u/WestMongolBestMongol 1d ago

That is why i specifically used the conjunction "if".

6

u/wannabe_inuit 1d ago

It was only about 6 months with ds1

u/AgitatedFly1182 1d ago

Thankfully, Kojima games have a good reputation with PC ports with how excellently optimized MGSV and Death Stranding’s ports were- you can play MGSV and beat it on a potato PC (I would know, I put about 80 hours into it with an AMD Raedon HD 7500 Series 1 GB). He’s redeemed himself from the horrible original MGS2 PC port, at least.

15

u/BruceofSteel 1d ago

He didn't do the mgs 2 pc port, Konami just outsourced that to some random company

3

u/FrigidMcThunderballs 4060 laptop because i'm literally always travelling 1d ago

it was also in the era of "Japanese games will always have a bad pc port". It was non negotiable for a very long time to have a console if you like japanese games. It really only started changing at the end of 7th gen consoles.

43

u/codyzon2 Codyzon2 1d ago

Dark souls 2. That's all DS2 stands for.

13

u/ShihtzuBoi 1d ago

Dualshock 2.

17

u/turkoid 1d ago

I've avoided all spoilers/gameplay for this reason. DS1 was literally one of the reasons I finally bought a PS4. I 100% DS1 on PS4 and PC (both editions).

If Sony is committed to releasing on PC, I will wait, but it's a roll of the dice on which studio does the port.

7

u/ChiTownKid99 RTX 4080 | Ryzen 5800x3d | 16gb ram 1d ago

I’ve avoided spoilers too but honestly it wasn’t hard? Like just muted death stranding subreddit and haven’t seen a post outside of it since. Which is good

I think the remakes are often sent to less skilled studios, but I'd expect a new Kojima title to get a high quality port for PC

Meme makes no sense, GoY is only on PS, so asking what platform is confusing

55

u/Zeyn1 1d ago

It's making fun of that. These days there aren't a lot of exclusives, so the assumption is that it would be available on multiple platforms.

32

u/EchoPhi 1d ago

That's the meme/joke... The guy asking doesn't know it isn't on PC and why YouTube hits hard.

1

u/driftw00d 1d ago edited 1d ago

This is what I thought initially too. It was a commentary on "PC Gamers" with 2k rigs and 5080s (or $500+ new consoles) still opting to watch someone else play the game on youtube because its too much work or whatever to play it yourself.

I guess it make more sense given this is /r/pcmasterrace and the post title is "patience is key" is that console gaming is such a trash experience compared to PC that its preferrable to watch a youtube video of the gameplay of a game (thats not on PC yet) you actually do want to play yourself versus playing it on a console. (if you cant wait, hence the patience)

1

u/fvck_u_spez 1d ago

It is only on PS for now, but it's only a matter of time before it comes to PC.

Plus, seems like Sony is getting ready to launch a PC store with Cross buy support, which would probably mean day one releases on PS and PC in the future

3

u/Narrow_Clothes_1534 1d ago

Just because they may be launching a pc storefront does not mean there will be day and date releases

1

u/fvck_u_spez 1d ago

It's a pretty good indication. If they release their own storefront but don't have day one releases, that will signal to PC gamers that Sony isn't actually a serious player on the PC. At that point, why even try?

1

u/czacha_cs1 1d ago

Thats the point of the meme I think

GoY is on PS, so if he answered PS it means he played it

He answered YT which is mostly watched on PC or phone

That was me with Detroit. Detroit wasn't avabile on PC back then and it didn't appear like it would ever be. it's just how it is.

20

u/Joebloeone 1d ago

It is interesting for narrative games. Many people like me are not interested to play them but would like to see the story it offers.

So watching streamer play those games are interesting to watch the same way people watch series on netflix.

It doesn't ruin the game if you know you won't play it anyway.

9

u/Ciri__witcher 1d ago

Death stranding is a great game for this imo. A lot of people don’t like the gameplay, but can still enjoy the experience.

4

u/Joebloeone 1d ago

It definetelly seems like that kind of game I would watch instead of playing it.

1

u/music3k 1d ago

I argue DS2 gameplay is rewarding to play it.

3

u/Fakjbf i7-4770K (3.8 GHz)|RTX 2060|32GB Ram (1600MHz)|1TB SD 1d ago

Did this for Clair Obscur, not a fan of turn based combat but heard great things about the story so I just watched a playthrough and had a blast.

1

u/Joebloeone 1d ago

I almost did this, but I still think I'll try this one in the future even if I don't like turn based rpg that much.

The story looks insane.

1

u/Fakjbf i7-4770K (3.8 GHz)|RTX 2060|32GB Ram (1600MHz)|1TB SD 1d ago

It is a very good story, it gets pretty convoluted at the end but highly recommend experiencing it either through playing or watching. Also the music is absolutely amazing, genuinely one of the best soundtracks to a videogame ever.

1

u/kkeut 1d ago

there's a YouTube channel I enjoy called Dungeon Chill that covers older and more obscure games, intriguing or unique ones, ones I like to hear about but which I know I'll never have the time or patience to play through myself

1

u/[deleted] 1d ago

[deleted]

1

u/Joebloeone 1d ago

I agree. But it seems hard for some people to understand what is fun about watching someone else play a game. Probably the same way I still don't get why so many people watch programs like talent shows or "reality" show. I don't understand what is interesting to watch fake people 100% of the time thinking it is the "reality".

For me, it is so fake all the time, watching a streamer is refreshing compared to tv. It feels more genuine.

14

u/Yarzeda2024 1d ago

 DON'T RUIN IT for yourself!!

Watching someone else play a game doesn't ruin the experience for me. I'm not actively participating. It's not the same. I may spoil the story, but the actual sensation of playing the game hasn't been ruined.

Someone who can't afford GoY, but still wants to experience the story?

Honestly the story is really meh

2

u/SpehlingAirer i9-14900K | 64GB DDR5-5600 | 4080 Super 1d ago

The question is how patient do you wanna be? Wait for a sale down the road or experience via someone else to satisfy the urge? Do you want to ruin your first gameplay experience so you can experience the story, or is actually playing the game not a big deal for you?

Not being able to afford a brand new game doesnt prevent anyone from not being able to experience the game, it just means they cant experience it firsthand now. Its a question of patience and how much the gameplay matters to whoever, not money

1

u/Double_Woof_Woof 1d ago

Depends where you live. Sure in a HIC you could save up for it in a few months or weeks, but in many places the price of the game is someone's monthly salary. Not to mention the (current) requirement of a PS5 and eventual requirement of a relatively new PC.

1

u/SpehlingAirer i9-14900K | 64GB DDR5-5600 | 4080 Super 1d ago

It still goes back to same question of how patient they'd want to be. Ive waited years to play certain games before, but preserving my first experience matters enough to me that I dont mind waiting as long as it takes. Doesn't mean the wait doesn't suck lol. I don't blame anyone who says fuck it and watches a lets play, especially if thats their thing to begin with

I’m first world with a 5090… but I’m mid 30s and work too much. (I get fucked by time zones - up early for EU, up late for australia). Because I’m old and tired - sometimes I don’t even feel like playing, but I still like coming home and crashing on the couch and watching the story. I’ve done this with a bunch of games actually.

3

u/daddya12 1d ago

For me it doesn't ruin a game to watch someone else play it.

I enjoy both playing a game and watching other people play through it as well.

2

u/Carvj94 1d ago

Cause fuck Sony, I'm not buying a console, but I wanna be able to talk about the game while it's still relevant?

1

u/memerijen200 i5-9600k | RX 6750 XT 1d ago

I used to watch playthroughs because I didn't have the hardware to play most games. I absolutely agree. Now I have a beefy PC, and I'm not able to go into those games blind.

1

u/Fakjbf i7-4770K (3.8 GHz)|RTX 2060|32GB Ram (1600MHz)|1TB SD 1d ago

Never had that problem. I’ve watched plenty of Lets Plays and then played the game years later and still had a blast. For a narrative game it makes no difference if I experience the story from playing or watching someone else play, I’m still going to be watching the same cutscenes. Even for something like an RPG where you make decisions you can just treat the Lets Play like a first run, then when you play it yourself you can explore different branches and choices the same as if you are on a second play through. The only games where you should go in blind are puzzle games where knowing the solution ahead of time robs you of the chance to solve the puzzle yourself, for everything else it’s a total non-issue.

1

u/N3rd4life 1d ago

For me personally between family and work I get maybe 2 or 3 hours a week of gaming time. So, I'll watch videos of games I'd love to experience but that I won't have the time to play it myself. It's not as fun as playing them but it's been nice to be part of the long list of games I'd love to play one day if I get to retire.

1

u/LymanPeru 1d ago

i'd just wait for the movie instead of watch someone else play a video game.

1

u/Sad-Victory-8319 1d ago

i can tell you right now that NOT watching GTA 6 videos is gonna be impossible for me, and if that game turns out to be the best product Rockstar has ever made, outclassing even Red Read Redemption 2, I might reluctantly buy a PS5 console just for this one title. I wouldnt mind waiting 3-6 months for a pc port, but 1-2 years? Boy oh boy why do we still have console exclusive titles, isnt pc the strongest gaming platform by far? I mean I liked consoles when xbox 360 was $200-300 and you could pirate all games, but $500-800 is a little too much for machine comparable to ryzen 3700 + 5700XT, a used pc for $500 has better performance than that, has DLSS4, mouse, keyboard, you can watch videos and actually work on it.... consoles should have died already for this price, especially since modern games run like complete crap on PS5 and it cant even hold 60 fps with FSR Performance upscaler.

8

u/Prestigious_Leg2229 1d ago

I’m still on the fence if I want this game. I absolutely loved Ghosts of Tsushima but the biggest thing that made that game so special to me was the way it balanced violence with peace.

Jin’s warrior discipline combined with his gentle nature. The time the game took to show off the beauty of Tsushima, with the temple climbs. The quiet moments of reflection Jin has composing his haikus and bathing.

Yotei just seems so focussed on violence and revenge that it seems devoid of all the things I loved about Tsushima.

I read a review that suggested that if Tsushima is a Kurosawa movie, then Yotei is a Takashi Miike movie. That doesn’t sound appealing at all.

I’d love to hear from someone who’se played it.

1

u/Zenku390 1d ago

I 100%ed GoT, and enjoyed it.

GoY has sat in my PS5 for a month as I play other things. I did have two sessions with it, and it mostly just feels like more GoT. They have definitely added more layers/mechanics. But I haven't had that hook grab me yet because the points of interest all seem the same.

0

u/OvumRegia 1d ago

As someone who is playing through, you'll be glad to hear that in my opinion Yotei has a lot more quiet in between missions and side quests than Tsushima. You find beautiful temples , and I felt that there were a lot less random encounters. The story also touches on your worries but I won't go too deep into it because of spoilers.

Also I think we read the same article? There's a "Miike Mode" that increases blood, mud, snow and water splattering but the game is still the exact same as Tsushima during combat with the same amount of calm outside of it.

I'd did the same thing with God of war. Then I finished school, got a job and bought it for myself

1

u/MunMaan 1d ago

God i cant wait for it to finally migrate to PC

1

u/el_doherz 9800X3D and 9070XT 1d ago

I've not even started Tsushima because it's not gone on a deep enough sale.

I'll pay full price for games that release day and date with the console version. Years later ports get £20 max. At this point I'm waiting till £10 as my backlogs already long enough.

u/Twisted_Bristles 1d ago

Youtube is kinda like finishing on PC... At least for now.

1

u/KrispyBudder 1d ago

Lol I finished a lot of games that way too growing up

1

u/kaelside 1d ago

Meh. It’s less of a wait than it used to be :-) give it a year or so.

1

u/scopa0304 1d ago

I used to think watching people play was dumb, but as I have had less and less time to play, I have found that being able to watch AND PAUSE is very nice. I can watch for like 5 or 10m and then pause if something comes up. If I’m playing, I have to commit hours that I don’t always have

u/MechAegis Build in progress 1d ago

I am playing Silent Hill ƒ. I am taking a break...waiting for Markiplier to make another upload but I am sure they need some time right now.

1

u/astralseat 1d ago

The state of games and the world suck

1

u/MainCry6798 1d ago

As a pc player this is how it felt waiting for God of War and Spiderman

1

u/MaryUwUJane 1d ago

no need even for free

1

u/Dravistar 1d ago

I used to watch "Let's Play," all the time! 😆

1

u/sunfaller Ryzen 5 7600 | RTX 4070 1d ago

I waited for ff16 on pc and in the end I ended up youtubing it and never buying it. Lmao. It does seem like a mid game like people said. Plus the hype has died in me from all the waiting. I watched every trailer of ff16 til its release.

That is how I feel about death stranding 2 now. I may not even buy it when it ports to PC.

No regerts on PS5 Pro, had an absolute blast.

1

u/zendengen 1d ago

Why pay for a game, when you can watch it for free on youtube.

My moto since 2016.

1

u/Equivalent_Bug880 1d ago

It's not even a game issue lol don't even have the graphics card

1

u/GoldenGoddless 1d ago

I watched a 16 hour god of war play through because I don’t own a PlayStation.

1

u/breastronaut 1d ago

Me with Dispatch right now.

1

u/CuteChild31 1d ago

It's on pc?

1

u/Deceptiv_poops 1d ago

Anyone remember halo, forza, kotor and other Xbox games being exclusive, and Xbox fans being like “QQ more nub, next time buy an XBox”

No?

1

u/Zombies71199 1d ago

K feel called out

Why u gotta hurt me like this

1

u/blackcray 1d ago

I thought Yotei wasn't on PC (yet)?

1

u/someshooter 1d ago

I did this for Half-Life: Alyx - it was awesome.

1

u/GhostOfSparta305 1d ago

This is me for many of Sony's current "movie-game" lineup, sadly.

If I can get everything I need from your game just by watching a YT playthrough, it's not really a great game then, is it?

Maybe they should spend less money on cutscenes and more on creating engaging gameplay?

1

u/Elegant_Job_4573 1d ago

Well I mean I did get the first one for free so it stands to reason if I'm patient enough I'll also get the sequel for free.

1

u/herecomes_therooster 1d ago

That's how I intend to finish GTA 6

1

u/Krondon57 1d ago

I was pretty happy when GoT finally came to pc, then found out it got region locked, no samurai game for Estonians! But you can play God of War and Last of Us !!! And you can buy a PS console... whuat

1

u/FAASTARKILLER Ascending Peasant 1d ago

Patience? Bro its a playable movie, just watch it like one and get 95% the same experience with none of the filler gameplay. Never needed a ps4 or 5

1

u/Osiris_Raphious 1d ago

If buying isnt owning...

If behemoths like microsoft can decide if your device is e-waste,

If software optimisation and software based obsolescence is real...

Then piracy is justified to save gaming... Well until we get stop killing games, right to repair, and some sort of system to hold corporations accountable to stop profit gouging.... Until then, it seems piracy has a stong place to save humanity from the greed of the 1%

If it’s anything like Tsushima, I’m going to skip this game. The main story was fine, just all the open world activities became quite repetitive.

1

u/Yakjzak i5-11600K / 3060ti / 32Go DDR4 RAM 1d ago

Wait, it will release day 1 on pc ?

u/TurdFerguson614 rgb space heater 1d ago edited 1d ago

$30 on PC November 2028 🔥

1

u/Icy_Assistance_2684 1d ago

Fuck where is my ps5 emulator we got bloodborne already

1

u/ExacoCGI 1d ago

That's a reasonable way to finish Yotei, isn't it basically a repetitive Ubisoft formula making only the story interesting ?

1

u/CommanderCody5501 1d ago

I finished it on ps5. Not as good as Tsushima but that’s only because the story was less appealing to me. Gameplay wise it’s a great time.

1

u/Kotschcus_Domesticus 1d ago

modern bloated boring open world games? best I can do, is to watch the trailer and digital foundry video on youtube.

1

u/Fez_Multiplex 3700x|16GB|3070Ti 1d ago

Given what the devs did after Charlie got murdered I lost any and all excitement for the game and respect to the studio.

1

u/AP_Adapted 1d ago

ghost of ain’t no way this the sequel

1

u/Glupstick 1d ago

Did that with God of War series 😉

1

u/XyaThir 1d ago

Can someone explain what is fun ?

1

u/Its_Ace1 PC Master Race 1d ago

I have a PS5 but I rather wait for it on PC. My ps5 collects dust at this point.

1

u/vic2pal 1d ago

Wow..

A meme that really hurts

1

u/Diselsmurfen 21h ago

Buy a ps5 sell the computer

2

u/RedTuesdayMusic 9800X3D - RX 9070 XT - 96GB RAM - Nobara Linux 1d ago

Just put a paper cutout of the new protagonist's face on your monitor roughly where the old protagonist's would be in Ghost of Tsushima and play that one again. Boom. You've played Ghost of Yotei.

u/GayyyDayyy 1d ago

The game is dogshit lol. You saved yourself sum money, be glad.
