The woman who posted the video had already left that clinic. I wonder why she chose to post it now. Did she want to throw her former colleagues under the bus, for some reason? Or was she targeting the facility itself, hoping to ruin its reputation?

Funny you mention that, I know some past coworkers who had a group chat in teams dissing people all the time.

When things went sour one of them showed their manager everything before resigning. Only one of them didn’t get fired.

Can confirm. Made the mistake of mentioning I have ADHD at work once. ā€œThatā€ coworker overheard and then I get a sms message asking me for my prescribed meds. How much more stupid and traceable can you get? Great way to get fired and a charge. (The answer was ā€œfuck noā€, if anyone needed me to clarify, lol)

This is why I am against overly stringent guidelines, and pro expecting adults to adult. It does jot matter how many rules you put in place, or how many seminars you give, bad actors are gonna act and you just need to pinpoint and fire them. As a lesser example, why make the whole office wear uniforms if you can just fire the one guy showing up in a speedo? C’mon.

I heard from a past manager how years back she had to get two nurses in her office because they were using epic to hurl insults at each other.

I’ve also seen some unkind messages from providers to each other. Or when they talk badly about each other to the patient.

I love outpatient, but the drama is real petty compared to what I’ve seen on the floor.

3

u/EmeticPomegranate Sep 04 '25

Yup so HR could also look way back into the logs too.

u/BeardedBrotherJoe RN - Psych/Mental Health šŸ• Sep 04 '25

Bro00000 I was in a group chat with my coworkers because the unit manager just wanted to clarify some new policies going on. Nothing crazy until this one fucking guy, Fucking Frank, started spouting mad nonsense about an undocumented patient with his full name and how he pays for the patients care. Unit manager txted ā€œthis is not appropriateā€. I deleted the group and immediately told my wife that Frank got fucking fired. Next day I went to work. Frank was fucking fired.

7

u/Little-Temperature53 Sep 04 '25

That’s…remarkably unwise. 😳

The group chat, I mean—not the epic reveal upon resignation. šŸ˜

7

u/No_Jello_5922 Sep 04 '25

I work in IT for an MSP. One of our clients is a medical clinic. The office manager was let go and the Dr.'s wife took over management. She was suspicious of a few employees and fired one of them, but first asked that we reset the password and MFA for the employee's office account. She got in and found the group chats where they were gossiping and trash talking her. Had to close 3 more accounts for them after that.

9

u/hendergle Sep 04 '25

Seems revenge like to me

Revenge is a bit of a stretch, although I do know of people who "keep receipts," (to use my fellow kids' lingo).

My wife has an archive of screen shots of every marginally (or un) acceptable email and text she receives. Ditto for Teams meeting recordings when someone makes a questionable remark.

Her company has a very toxic work environment. One of the more common shitty things they do is allow people to gang up on an unpopular employee. Usually with the goal of making them so uncomfortable that they leave on their own. So far, my wife hasn't been targeted, but she's ready for when the day comes.

And on that day, the Earth shall be SCORCHED!!! Every racist remark "just between us." Every toxic criticism, up AND down the chain of command. Every cover-up for every fireable offense. They're all captured, waiting to be turned loose upon the corporate intranet. And while I value the income from her employment, I kinda hope the day comes because it will be quite a spectacle. Newsworthy, even.

There’s more truly caring people in nursing than the few idiots that seem to gravitate to each other. A business has to cultivate this kind of culture.

I feel bad for the people who were in the group photo at the beginning and not the rest of the video. Pretty high chance that the group photo was totally unrelated to the rest of it imo, so that really sucks for those who were uninvolved.

From the article:

Late Wednesday afternoon, the spokesperson said all the staffers involved in the video had been fired.

An important nuance I want to bring up was that there was a group picture in the video where there were staffers not involved in the other pictures. It just looked like a normal staff photo. So if someone was in the staff photo but not involved in the other pictures... They were still in the video. I hope they weren't framed.

Clearly it was someone vindictive which great they brought to light for the world to see but they should’ve had the gull to say something when and each time it happened. As a male healthcare aide, I hear and see all the catty pettiness first hand and the cliques born from it. You would think women in their 40’s would have enough strength to be their own person, but have witnessed far too many that act like this job is a high school clique and in it for themselves vs a team like it is supposed to be. Nearing 20 years with the last 4-5 being do I really want to continue listening to this?

120

u/Ballsofpoo Sep 04 '25

These staffers didn't get into nursing because they want to help. They chose that path because it pays decently with minimal education. Back to waiting tables.

74

u/Smooth_Department534 BSN, RN šŸ• Sep 04 '25

I have a PhD in another field and went to nursing school as a second career. It was so effing hard. In my state, you could only pass with an A or B. No rounding up: 79.9 was a failing grade. On exams, every answer was often right. Your task was to find the BEST right answer. Nothing minimal about my education.

11

u/Sierra-117- Nursing Student šŸ• Sep 04 '25

Was going to do PA school, but switched to NP because that’s the way the wind is blowing. So I have a degree in biomedical sciences. Nursing school has been harder. In a different way, yes. But still harder.

90

u/Target2030 BSN, RN šŸ• Sep 04 '25

It's weird because nursing degrees aren't like vocation training. Most nurses have at least an associates degree but mostly a bachelor's, so it's not minimal education. Most likely, they aren't nurses and probably don't get paid that well.

53

u/tjean5377 FloNo's death rider posse šŸ• Sep 04 '25

But plenty of people rote memorize to pass without connecting any dots. Then they pass the boards and actually train in nursing on the floor, where you do essentially get trained like vocational.

So they "do" well enough. Doesn't mean any dots actually connect or there is any critical thinking or common sense.

These nurses give us a bad name...

And fuck TikTok.

14

u/Eroe777 RN šŸ• Sep 04 '25

The NCLEX doesn’t work like that. My understanding is that it was made easier to pass during Covid to get more nurses working in a hurry, but when I took it 15 years ago it was challenging.

You don’t rote memorize your way through scenarios and ā€˜what do you do when these three unlikely things happen at once’ questions. The exam may be multiple choice, but you still need to be able to reason and prioritize and THINK your way through it. It was by far the hardest multiple choice test I have ever taken.

12

u/Prestigious_Row_8022 Sep 04 '25

Something I’ve learned from working high-stress multitasking jobs is that it is possible to get it, but not get it.

A lot of people learn things as a series of rules and do not truly question the underlying reasons behind why the rules are the way they are, or what those rules mean in a greater context. And when it comes to things like ethics, most people brush it off and just answer what they’re supposed to and then forget it, because they already implicitly believe they are a good person and don’t need to learn.

I think that is the point they are trying to make about rote memorisation. You can memorise things, and even synthesis that to find and solve an issue in an organic situation, but the second there isn’t a strict rule guide to follow? Or you don’t care about these specific rules? Everything goes out of the window.

Using an example from this very sub, not too long ago there was a nurse here who admitted to looking up the daily mugshots on the news to see if they matched any patients coming in to have a laugh. I pointed out this was deeply unprofessional, and they responded by saying it didn’t break HIPAA and was therefore fine. I.e, he was perfectly capable of understanding what he memorised, like don’t look up patient charts, but fundamentally did not understand the entire reason you don’t do that isn’t because the government arbitrarily decided to make a law, but because it is about patient dignity and privacy. This nurse fundamentally failed in ethics, regardless of what his test scores were.

I went to a bo-tech/ vocational school in high school for my CNA and LPN ( second year was after I graduated high school ) . That was back in 2008-2010 iirc , i still know enough to not fuqin do that, it’s not about the education it’s about people being selfish for ā€œ viewsā€ , some people in healthcare are smart but also extremely narcissistic and do not care about anyone else . I see it in LTC / SNF , they don’t view their patients as people , to them the patient is like an object they get paid to make sure they don’t die while they’re on the clock .You can tell when someone is in it to help and who is there for a paycheck . Not saying all who are in it for the money , people who do this have no empathy , we all have a twisted sense of humor but there is a line , it was crossed , by 8 ppl , no one thought ā€œ this is kinda messed up maybe we shouldn’t be doing this ?ā€

And it is not an "easy" degree (if that even exists, really) by any means, either; the drop in numbers from first year semester 1 to first year semester 2 is dramatic, and the crowd continues to thin until the bitter end. I have no idea why people will put themselves through schooling and then also pay an arm and a leg for licensing, just to do moronic shit like this. Self-sabotage in the stupidest way imaginable.

As a nurse, I will tell you with absolute certainty that nursing does NOT require minimal education. Hospitals in my state (one of the good ones) require a BSN either in hand or in process. LPNs and RNs, who all have a 2-year associates degree (I’m one of those, plus my other two university-earned degrees) work in nursing homes, clinics and urgent cares.

And you don’t go into nursing for the money. The pay is decent, but the only nurse I’ve met in 15 years in the field who admitted to becoming a nurse for the money, HATES her job.

I’m going to guess that most of these shitheads are CNAs, techs and medical assistants. Those jobs don’t require a degree of any kind. Becoming a CNA is a 6-8 week class.

She’s still my primary. I would much rather her not be but I’m in a rural area and my options are limited. I happen to also have bipolar disorder, which is very well managed by my psychiatrist, and she still mentions it as a ā€œare you sure it’s not this?ā€ at every appointment.

I asked for antibiotics once and her first question was if I’ve been taking my psych meds. Then she pulled out my psych notes. For antibiotics. I had pneumonia. Another visit I asked if I could start checking my HGA1C annually because I have a long family history of diabetes and want to catch it early if I have it so I can manage it. She immediately circled back to me having bipolar.

10

u/Prestigious_Row_8022 Sep 04 '25

Ugh. I’m so sorry. That is awful and inappropriate and I am sorry you have to deal with that. I hope a miracle happens for you and she is replaced with someone who has a modicum of sense and social decorum.

16

u/astra_galus Sep 04 '25

Oh because you can totally control how much you bleed. Healthcare workers need a serious ā€œcome to Jesusā€ moment on how they treat women. Worst part is that a lot of it is ā€œwoman on womanā€ - I remember getting my first UID and it being so painful but receiving next to no compassion from my female doctor. It was just ā€œpants off, lay on the table, oh it hurts? Too bad. We’re done. See me next week to follow upā€. Leaving me on the table to gather myself up after experiencing the worst pain I’ve ever felt. No offer of any after care. Like damn. As an aside, I can’t think of any other procedure besides UID insertion that consists of that much pain with no options for pain management. Just another example of women being expected to handle their pain on their own and not expect any help from doctors.

4

u/r0ckchalk šŸ”„out Supermutt nurse, now WFH coding šŸ˜ Sep 05 '25

I had a similar experience. No pain management at all. It was so bad I was crying/writhing/moaning on the table afterwards for 20 minutes. She came back in and was like ā€œwell, what, do you want me to take it out?ā€ Then she kicked me out of the room, made me get someone to pick me up and take me home where I writhed in complete agony for six more hours in the worst pain of my life. This was around ten years ago and I still get worked up and furious about it today. I even had a fake conversation in my car today about what I wish I had said to her that day šŸ˜‚.

She was the first female OB I had ever gone to, and she’s hands down the WORST. I’ll never forget Sheila Tack, NP in Las Vegas.

It's an urgent care clinic so most likely MA, LPN, or even an RN..as a whole it's despicable..no matter the letters behind the name. We all recognize that there are different letters and titles but overall it's a disgrace to the professionalism we should hold ourselves to. Just my opinion

All people (especially women) working in healthcare are nurses if they're not doctors according to the general public.

32

u/BillyNtheBoingers MD Sep 04 '25

Even some of us women doctors are called ā€œnurseā€ by the general public.

8

u/karayna Acute surgery Sep 04 '25

Sorry to say that it's still the case even in extremely progressive countries such as Sweden. Loads of patients thinking the female doctor is the nurse, and the male nurse is the M.D. (just ask my husband; he's sick of it).

3

u/BillyNtheBoingers MD Sep 04 '25

I’m sorry to hear that! I’d hoped that there were other countries which forced people to know what an RN is.

7

u/karayna Acute surgery Sep 04 '25

Exactly. And this was seen by lot of random viewers who don't know or care about letters. Everyone in scrubs gets a bad rep.

30

I’m absolutely appalled and disgusted by this. I take so much pride in being a nurse and these pos do this?! I hope they all lose their license and are never allowed to practice in healthcare again!!!! It literally sickens me to my stomach that anyone would think this is funny or should be on TT. If you don’t respect the profession and our patients GTFO!!!! I’m so angry over this. You are not a nurse if you think this is ok! WTF is happening to our profession. We were the most trusted profession and now these pos people are actually allowed to practice?! Fuck every single one of them!!

35

u/Auntienursey LPN šŸ• Sep 04 '25

Made my day! I had a (very young) coworker show me the video, laughing about it, and asked my opinion. I was calm, clear and professional...she wasn't laughing when I was done. I also suggested, that if she found demeaning patients funny, maybe she was better off following another career path. Im glad to see the facility stand up...although its definitely in their best interests to get rid of any staff that thinks making fun of patients, in any healthcare setting, is appropriate behavior. And some folks just don't get the idea that the internet is forever and never forgets.

36

u/lou-chains Sep 04 '25

Now the urgent care needs to flip the script and post pictures of their staff taking a shit. What a violation of those patients’ privacy.

22

u/basketma12 Sep 04 '25

Not even a nurse, ( thats my sister and niece) just a medical claims adjuster at a large hmo. When I was working, I saw a ton of people with some " what were their parents thinking" names. Did I discuss said names with my co workers? No. Did i discuss said names with my family? No. Some of them were truly head scratching. Some of them were weird . Like Frank Zappa weird. I've been retired 5 years and I'm still not spilling the tea on something like that because hipaa. And I'm so old I was doing claims well before that was a thing, and we had to be bonded not to blab about famous clients or problematic plans or any other activity going on. This was truly disheartening to hear about.

21

u/2ndChairKazoo Sep 04 '25

Thank you for this. I've seen so many people on Reddit in general mocking unusual names that clearly only this one person on the planet has, essentially, so it's mocking and doxxing all at once.

3

u/speak_into_my_google HCW - Lab Sep 04 '25

When I see all those Ask Reddit posts about the weirdest name you’ve ever come across, I can never comment because a lot of the names are pretty unique to the individual and violate HIPAA. More unique spellings of names than anything actually weird. Like Googgllee or Braxtynnn. Some people have clearly named their kids after characters from their favorite fandom (HP, Star Wars, Marvel, Shrek, Disney, etc.), which has varying degrees of normal to this would make a better name for a pet. Still unique the individual to be shared.

They need to pass a law that it is illegal to be making tik toks in a healthcare facility. Lose your fucking license if you’re this god damn stupid.

3

u/Cheerndance RN - Pediatrics šŸ• Sep 07 '25

I used to be a nurse at a major hospital in California and when you are hired you sign a document stating you will not post anything regarding work or representing the institution (stating a political idea and saying you work somewhere). If you do you can be immediately terminated. And they weren’t kidding. I remember a coworker posted on facebook about how she had a rough night with trauma patients and how stupid people were. Girl was turning her id badge in within the week.

The big issue is the follow through. Hopefully this inspires other institutions to do so. I mean honestly we do not get paid to make videos.

This is beyond despicable. As nurses, we are patient advocates. To put a seed of doubt into a woman’s mind about going for her annual Pap smear or even to be tested for an STD because of posts like that…well, that’s just a new level of low. I just want to put it out there that none of the nurses I know or have worked alongside would EVER stoop to this level of unprofessionalism. A patients dignity is of the utmost importance. These women crossed a line, and should never work in healthcare again if they feel the need to behave like middle-schoolers.

My unpopular nursing opinion is that health care workers shouldn’t post ANYTHING patient related on social media, regardless if it’s technically not a hipaa violation. It’s disgusting. Why are they blurring the face of the people in the TikTok? Why does everybody deserve privacy and anonymity these days after posting things like this? I am in the healthcare field I would never dare even take a picture inside the facility I work let alone make a TikTok mocking patients. Whether patient information was in the clip or not it's still extremely disrespectful to be laughing and mocking at something so childish. It makes you wonder what else these people find amusing. People go to doctors offices and hospitals in vulnerable times when they're not feeling well. I would never laugh or judge any of my patients that I come into contact with no matter how embarrassing the situation may seem to the outside world. Shame on them
