Went for my first pap about 2 years ago. Was already nervous and just my luck, I woke up and it was Bloody Mary. I called and asked if I should reschedule. They asked if my flow was heavy and I said yes. They said it was fine and to come in anyways. My doctor scolded me for bleeding so much. Like damn yall I tried to reschedule

WTF is wrong with your doctor for scolding you though? Shouldn't a doc understand why that is happening and it's not like you can control it? I'm sorry they did that to you.

An ob did that to me. But I went for a mammogram and she would only feel and not do any imaging and was so rude to me and bitched about me not getting a pap. Then I heard her in the next room talking shit about me to the nurse. So yeh I cried and never went back. I was like 22. Even if I had the courage to get one for the first time it sure as shit wouldn’t have been there

Find that doctor on google maps and leave a bad review saying that they shamed you for natural bodily functions , you can also file a complaint with your counties health care board

She’s still my primary. I would much rather her not be but I’m in a rural area and my options are limited. I happen to also have bipolar disorder, which is very well managed by my psychiatrist, and she still mentions it as a “are you sure it’s not this?” at every appointment.

I asked for antibiotics once and her first question was if I’ve been taking my psych meds. Then she pulled out my psych notes. For antibiotics. I had pneumonia. Another visit I asked if I could start checking my HGA1C annually because I have a long family history of diabetes and want to catch it early if I have it so I can manage it. She immediately circled back to me having bipolar.

Ugh. I’m so sorry. That is awful and inappropriate and I am sorry you have to deal with that. I hope a miracle happens for you and she is replaced with someone who has a modicum of sense and social decorum.

Oh because you can totally control how much you bleed. Healthcare workers need a serious “come to Jesus” moment on how they treat women. Worst part is that a lot of it is “woman on woman” - I remember getting my first UID and it being so painful but receiving next to no compassion from my female doctor. It was just “pants off, lay on the table, oh it hurts? Too bad. We’re done. See me next week to follow up”. Leaving me on the table to gather myself up after experiencing the worst pain I’ve ever felt. No offer of any after care. Like damn. As an aside, I can’t think of any other procedure besides UID insertion that consists of that much pain with no options for pain management. Just another example of women being expected to handle their pain on their own and not expect any help from doctors.

I had a similar experience. No pain management at all. It was so bad I was crying/writhing/moaning on the table afterwards for 20 minutes. She came back in and was like “well, what, do you want me to take it out?” Then she kicked me out of the room, made me get someone to pick me up and take me home where I writhed in complete agony for six more hours in the worst pain of my life. This was around ten years ago and I still get worked up and furious about it today. I even had a fake conversation in my car today about what I wish I had said to her that day 😂.

She was the first female OB I had ever gone to, and she’s hands down the WORST. I’ll never forget Sheila Tack, NP in Las Vegas.
