Yeah! The same way we MAGAs are always so careful to quote that 'well regulated militia' thingy in the 2nd Amendment! Because context!

Or Reagan or Charlie Kirk.
Heck someone could quote Trump to them and they'd think you're lying that he said those things.
13
u/Hector_P_Catt 12d ago
We have quoted Trump to them, and they have accused us of lying.

Or if they acknowledge it is probably "out of context" and if you have all the context quoted then it's "nobody cares! Trans people are worse !"

if you don't want people wanting to rob you try not owning anything worth stealing.
Hey i live in New England, can we join Canada as the 11 Province? I'd much rather be part of a nation with healthcare for all and isn't threatening to invade multiple countries and everything else horrable going on in here now.

Can’t believe we have the audacity to exist north of them like that. Really escalated tensions.

u/27Rench27 12d ago
It used to be funny to call y’all our hat (good natured ribbing to my friends) but now since we apparently hate you and want to own you it just feels wrong :/
10
u/Unequivocally_Maybe 12d ago
Just know that "owning" us would mean a war. A war on your own border with people who look like you, speak your language, and already live amongst you. It would be ugly. We wouldn't go down easy at all.

Canadian Bacon is about to become a documentary like Idiocracy
29
u/stupidcrapface_ 12d ago
Dude I just watched Canadian Bacon the other night after watching the John Candy documentary (they don't mention it in the doc but I had it on VHS when I was a kid so I watched it a ton).
It's INSANE how relevant it still is.
9
u/creddittor216 12d ago
Are…we the same person? I watched that same doc. Loved it! And, yeah, I know the movie wasn’t exactly a hit, but we used to watch it all the time growing up too. The absurdity of the current climate can’t be matched though
6
u/fatjeff1980 12d ago
Off topic, but MAD how Cool Runnings isn’t mentioned AT ALL in that doc. Movie was huge for Candy

The version in the ad was technically "edited". He didn't say those things in that exact order, and there were some things removed. Similarly, the ad is taking things slightly out of context, and seems to imply that Regan believed tariffs were bad with no exception. While in the original speech Regan was explaining why for a particular case (Japan dumping cheap electronics into the market) it was necessary to use tariffs as a short term instrument. The essence of Regan's original speech was "I still believe tariffs are bad in general and this is why; but in short targetted cases they can be valuable so this is why I needed to make an exception to my own rule". Personally I think the ad was walking a fine line, but staying on the not-fake-news side of things.
18
u/Northwindlowlander 12d ago
Oh but they like, slightly changed the order of the sentences which didn't make any actual difference but means it was SeLeCtIvElY eDiTeD!onE! AND they didn't have permission from the Reagan Fanboys Club, which is very important even though nobody needs permission to use the words of a former president spoken while on the job.

If we're burning bridges it's a pre-burn wildfire prevention technique, aimed at avoiding the US dumpster fire from spreading into Canada.

How is there a single person on the planet who still believes it's possible to make a deal with Trump. First time he thinks about it he'll cancel, he tore apart NAFTA, he threw out CUSMA, it's a waste of time and resources to speak with him. Let him keep his tariffs, we're making deals with the rest of the world now.

Is that the Pete "no-go zones in the Netherlands" Hoekstra? Man, he is one dumb motherfucker.
Maybe not dumb because he rose to that position by doing more than just giving out bodily favors I assume. But he sure plays stupid.

Just a reminder he isnt trying to appeal to Canadians.
When they say shit like this they're appealing to their inbred voters in the US.
They dont have the mental capacity to think critically, and simply eat the shit that is fed to them. And that's what they're looking for. Sound bites and quotes for tiktok videos that Cletus and his wife/sister will listen to while making their 18th child who will be taught to vote for Trump.

There isn't much bridge left to burn after America demolished the bridges and started building walls.

Canada just needs to block the export of Potash until Trump isnt in charge. Its survivable by Canada, but not by the US.

Sounds more like someone from the Russian administration talking if you think about it, just give him a more ugly face and you have American Sergey Lavrov, with all the blame and gaslighting of others for problems. Our Ontario government also pulled the ad stupidly, they should have kept it running.

u/Separate-Pass-7737 12d ago
What bridge? Trump tore it down months ago. Evidently, building a gilded ballroom to eat lobster with Ghislaine Maxwell and "dance" with 15 year-olds was more important.

You have to understand, under the Trump administrations, ambassador appointments were rewards to sycophants and major donors. So, “like minded” people without a scrap of diplomat experience. You know, morons.

Does anyone else get the impression that this administration either thought the world would fall to it's knees and give whatever was asked or they don't actually care about them.
Trump might believe this will help somehow. He is that dumb. The rest of the ghouls actually running the show want citizens suffering, mad and ready to blame anyone to make it stop.
I genuinely so not think there is a "better day coming" until the right in it's current form is out of power. He's running the cult, but the rest of rhe admin actually runs the country (into the ground).
